First Grow Fire OG LED 900W In Soil

It went really good, so far, seems like she barely noticed. Wasn't nervous, seems like a pretty simple method. Plus I've topped a plant before. Which went well. That was my actual first grow. But it was a bag seed, and turned put to be a male. Bummer, but I learned a lot growing it. So it gave me some confidence/experience for this time around. I will be topping both new main tops again at least once. Thanks for stopping by!

Looking really good man! Bummer about the #2 seeds, but those kinds of things will happen when growing from seed. Even if you only end up with one plant, your setup should produce a good yield and 3.5 oz is def obtainable or more! I used 3 300 watt marshydro leds on my last grow and got 5oz from one plant.

Keep up the good work!

Hey there JayCseed! Thanks man, yeah it's a bummer about the seeds but that's life. Hoping to have success with this next one. Been germinated and put in the soil, just waiting for her to pop. Thanks for stopping by, I'll be following your grow too. Interested in seeing how the HPS and led work together! Also, what strain is that in your pic, looks awesome!

So I have very limited experience compared to most members here. However I was in your position 40 days ago. I'll share some thoughts after reading everything.

You might be overwatering a bit, it could be the reason your #2 hasn't done well any time. Put your finger into the soil down to your middle knuckle. If the soil is cool or moist, wait a little bit to give water. It took me awhile to get my watering habits dialed in.

Also, you could look into getting some small 2x2x2 rockwool cubes. I use them with my soil grow. I pre-soak them to 5.8 ph. and shake all the water I can out of them. Be careful not to squeeze them or it will screw up the air pockets. I pop the seed into the cube, and keep it in a dark warm place with a humidity dome over it. After 3-5 days it's sprouted, I will wait until the taproot comes out of the bottom of the rockwool cub before transplanting it into the soil. This usually happens around day 7-9 after I popped the seed in.

The benefit to doing it this way seems to be that it shows a visible sign that the seedling is ready to be transplanted. As a Newbie, I found this extremely helpful in seedling success. So far, out of 7 seeds, all 7 sprouted and were transplanted. All 7 survived. Until I found out which ones were male that is :)

Fingers crossed on the next one, third times a charm lol.

Thanks! I grew some SFV OG outdoors about ten years ago and must had had some hermies ( although I never saw any ) but ended up with a few seeds(3). I kept them in a film canister in a box and finally decided it was time to grow again and they were the only thing I had on hand. It work out very well:smoke2:

Hey Apbeast! I've really tried to be careful about overwatering. I check down to my middle knuckle, last water felt like it was right time, but maybe your right. I will definitely make sure to be certain next time! Thanks for the advice.

And I had hoped for a germination rate as good as yours. I think I'm gonna look into getting some jiffy pellets or something. Maybe even invest in a whole germination/seedling station! Lol next go around I'll have that probably going and a flower tent. Anyways, thanks for stopping by!

So here's an update: Today GDK #1 (Charlotte) is 3 weeks and 2 days old. I have topped a total of 3 times. Once on the main stem, then topped two other stems. She's seems to be doing really well so far. We'll see how she takes to the lst. I have tied down each new main stems so she grows out and bushy. How's it look? Last watered her 7/11, one gallon Ph water 6.5 with 1.5 ml of calmag.

As for GDK #2, it's under the soil still and due to pop up any time! (Hopefully) I will be topping her, and doing some lst. Going to try and make them about the same size when I flip to flower. We'll see how that goes.. Lol anyways, that's it for now. I'll make another update once #2 sprouts. If anyone has any input or advice.. Please feel free!

Before I started lst

Anytime Kevin. I'm happy to be here. For germination I use the 2x2x2 rockwool cubes and put them in a propagation tray with a done lid. I think it ran me about $30. I keep the dome misted every day, and close the airholes. On the 2nd day of the seedling popping I crack the holes open. On the 3rd day the holes are half open. 4th day fully open, and 5th day the dome is completely off.

Also when you germanate I've had the best luck doing it in the dark.

Update: so today GDK #1, Charlotte is 1 day shy of 4 weeks. 3 weeks 6 days. And she seems to be doing really good. Fed her last on 7/15, yesterday. She got her last water at just a gallon, next water will be 1 and 1/2 or maybe 2. She got 4 tsp of Big Bloom, 2 and 1/2 tsp Grow Big, and 2 and 1/2 ml of calmag. PH to 6.3. She has taken very well to the lst, and I am about to start step 2 of her lst. These pictures are from earlier today. I will take more pics and post them after I'm done with step 2.

As for the seed I had, that had just popped... It was victim of my cat. BUMMER. I had it outside the tent, stepped out of the room for 1 second, and my cat got to it. It was very young, and there's no way it could have survived. So I'm just down to the 1 plant. Frustrating, I really wanted to harvest 2 plants. But I'm not going to be trying for another one, it will just be way to far behind. I'm just going to finish this out, then I'll be trying for 3 plants next grow, one will be Gumdrop Kush. I have some Purple Tai seeds, so probably one of those, and the third is TBD. But that's a ways away, and a whole other journal.

Anyways, so far, it's been a rough road. Hoping it's not a sign of things to come with #1.

I did step 2 of my LST on Charlotte today. Also did a slight defoliation, just a few fan leaves, to open her up and get light/air to the undergrowth. We'll see how it turns out. I was planning on trying a scrog, but I think I will wait until my next grow to use it. I'll just try an train her as best I can. But it is a Sativa dominant hybrid, so it's going to stretch a lot in flower. Worries me, but I think I can manage it. Anyways, really excited to get my new Led lamp. Although, with there only being one plant in my tent now, I think I want to finish and complete this grow using the 300s. I'd like to see the buds they will produce on their own. Plus, I want my new light to last as long as possible. Lol not completely decided yet though. But I have decided on which light. I was having some last minute.. I dunno, thoughts, about getting something else bigger brighter stronger.. But just don't want to spend that kind of money, yet. So the Mars 2 900 it is. Not that it's not a great light, I'm excited to get it and use it eventually!

Any comments or tips, are very welcomed.

Nice, I may join in you in removing a couple problematic fan leaves as well in the next day or two.

@ Knight hawk : hey there, yeah definitely needed to get them out of there, causing to much shade. lol trying to keep the canopy growing even. I'll for sure be doing another more dramatic defoliation again before I make the switch to flower. And maybe even once more in early flower, if it needs it.

So go for it, it definitely won't hurt!

@ Oregon Farmer : well, like I stated, it was not done on purpose. I accidentally did my math wrong for the amount of soil I needed for the two 5 gal pots. So I planted them, when it was sprouted added more soil. Plus, originally I had them filled with just Fox Farm Ocean Forest. And Happy Frog they say is more suitable for seedlings. Lighter nutrients. So I filled the top few inches with Happy Frog soil. All mixed with 10-15% perlite. I hope that answers your question, thanks for stopping by!

Yeah I actually did go for it with 2 leaves on my Candy Cane because they were just too in the damn way preventing other training and also rubbing up against everything causing transpiration\sweating spots on other leaves, but remember mine are auto's so I have to be very very judicious\selective about it cause I can't control the recovery time\flip. ;) I wanted to do 4 ... but I was too paranoid about it, the two I removed though gave me I think the most bang\space\clearance for other things for the proverbial buck\damage.

That's right I forgot your running autos, good call. Well Just getting those 2 leaves out should help tons.. Have your's shown pre flowers yet?
