Day 56. 1.5 gallons added at 1:3 with 10ml cal mag added. Refractometer arrived so I got to play with it. Brix level of 12 for the topped plant. Brix 9 for the untrained one. Nlxbb soil still moist, I'll give it a couple days and refill the swick. Need to top it soon after that. Still waiting for my microscope to arrive so I can get a better view of those trichs.

Roots healthy.

Here you can see the calcium deficiency. Not ph lockout this time, started as we switched to more of a flowering blend.

Day 58. 2 gallons added at 1:3 with 10ml cal mag. Calcium deficiency looks worse. Don't want to add too much cal mag though. Refilled swick and topped NLxBB. May have been too early to top but we'll see how she responds. 2 days until recommended harvest day. Quite a few undeveloped bud sights, so in no way are they ready. I'm aiming for 30% Amber so I'm thinking at least a few more weeks. Still no microscope.

Day 60. Lotta fun stuff past few days. Ph has been wobbly since adding cal mag. Rose to 6.1 yesterday, Ph'd it down to 5.7. Today it was 6.3, dropped it down to 5.5. Watered 1 gallon at 1:2, with 5ml cal mag. Not sure why ph rising so much suddenly, possibly nutrients sedimenting at the bottom of the res?

Microscope arrived. Topped plant is 75% cloudy with no Amber yet. Untrained one 75% clear. Not sure how to harvest since they'll be ready at different times and the roots are too tangled to pull one for a flush. Might plan harvesting all of them around the untrained one reaching 30-50% Amber, letting the topped one run long, and plant#3 early. Could make for some interesting comparison tests.

Topped NLxBB growth doesn't seem to have slowed. Some tacoing of its newest leaf set, so I'll look into that also. Lights 18 inches away so its not light stress. Temps are 70℉, not heat stress. Humidity is 60%, not low humidity. Overwatering maybe. I top watered pretty heavily when rewatering in addition to refilling swick.

Day 63. 3 gallons added at 1:3 with 15ml cal mag. Not much change in trichromes, spotted a few Amber on the topped plant. Maybe 50% cloudy on untopped one. Plant#4(tiny plant) mostly clear, not much developement. Buds are nice and dense on the topped f&v. Managed to get a shot through the microscope.

Nlxbb 2 new tops developing nicely.

Yeah just a cheap Carson 60-100x pocket microscope. Held phone up to it to get a picture. Took a few tries to keep it in focus though. Probably won't do that again lol.

71 days from seed. A lot happening. Had the flu for the past few days so I've been sucking on a bottle of Nyquil. 4 or 5 gallons were added, probably full strength nutes but it's all a blur to me now lol.

Checked trichromes today, made sure to check multiple locations throughout each plant for averages. Topped plant is 30% Amber, untopped is a surprising 50% Amber, and the late blooming plant#3 is 75% Amber. Don't ask me how, it's buds are small and spaced out, but the trichromes say she's mature.

Reservoir changed with just Ph'd tap water no nutes, planning to harvest 9/9, next day I'm off work. Not as much flush as I'd like but oh well.


NLxBB started lst today. We'll see how she likes it. I've decided to plant a Greenhouse seeds White Widow and Royal Queen Sour Deisel into the same soil setup as soon as we harvest our fast & vast.

Heavyweight Fast and Vast 76 days from seed. Harvest.

Harvest was last night. A lot more work than I expected. My wife insisted on making me wait all day until she got home from work before I could start harvesting. She wanted to help. We got started around 10pm and by midnight she turned in. I didn't get finished until around 5am. Was more work than we expected, but they're all drying now.

I wanna start out by giving a shout out to these trimmers. They're called bonsai trimmers and can be picked up for around $2 each. They're razor sharp and require little pressure to use. 7 hours of trimming without my hand getting tired.

We started by pulling them out of the closet and unhooking the air line. Then began trimming all fan leaves off.

With most fan leaves removed (about an hour later). You can also see the topped plant just kinda fell over with no oxygenation of the water. I was surprised to see them dying so quickly. Could be disastrous if the air pump died during growth.

With the fan leaves removed we began trimming colas. So many leaves.

Eventually it all got finished. All the top bud got hung to dry and the rest got trimmed in a tray.

Left wire - Topped plant, middle - Untrained, right - plant#3. Most of plant#3 got further trimmed because the buds were so spaced apart. The box is 16" wide and tall and 24" deep for size reference.

Loose buds. Right tray are dense top buds that didn't make the hanging wire. Left tray have all the bottom "fluffy" undeveloped buds.

I'll get the final weight in next week and startup a new thread for our swick organic grow.

okay I'm impressed with your auto turnout... 76 days is fast IMO and it looks like you got a decent yield.
this has gotten me re-thinking my current stance on autos!

I didn't get finished until around 5am.

76 days isn't much faster than photoperiod. My nlxbb could be flipped to flower now and be finished around 90 total days from seed. I got into the autoflower hype without researching the real grow times.

And yeah. About 9 man hours to trim it all, although I trimmed it a little more detailed than necessary, but I didn't want to have much more trimming when it's dried.

I'm hoping total yield is around 4oz, that should easily get us through until the next harvest. Definitely a descent yield especially since I only used like 3sq feet of grow space and ~270 true watts of lights.

I'm glad to be done with Dwc hydro. The results were nice but the last few weeks I'd gotten tired of checking on them twice a day.

Next grow will be in the same water only soil as the NLxBB. Might try something else after that, dwc was just more work than I'd like.

I can see autos being useful for outdoor growers, but I can't see enough time saved to warrant them indoors.

At first it seems the topped plant did best, but in defense of the others, it also had a mutation causing 3 branches per node, and it received more direct light during flowering.

A note about my DIY dry box. Worked great for drying but did little to nothing for smell. I used 6 layers of activated carbon pad filters. 1/2" thickness each. Next harvest I'm going to have to invest in another exhaust fan and phresh filter for a drying area.

Smoke Report​

Initial smoke report of "Mids" (90% clear trichromes)

Dosage: 0.5 grams in a bong.

Burned very smooth. No coughing. Smoked about half the bowl immediately then had the rest after an hour. Very skunk like odor. Burned to a fine white ash.

Very cerebral high. Energy Weed best describes it. I felt like I needed to move constantly. Cranked up the dubstep and danced. Minor pain relief or focus taken away from minor pains. Huge appetite followed. Cooked a 6 egg ham and cheese omlet(shared with my wife). Some difficulty completing basic tasks.(like cracking eggs). After a couple hours high slowed down and I went to bed. Dreams were very vivid and weird.

Would save for social occassions. All in all good smoke.

I will add that my tolerence is low, I smoke .5-1g of "Mids" daily, which is highly compressed cheap weed possibly from Mexico. Still has a nice smell and green color, but smokes somewhat harsh. (Probably pesticides)
