I'm at a loss then.

Here is my recirculating system doing a trial run. A SCROG cart is in the process of being built.

Nice. I know I don't have the flexibility of having a separate rez for each plant. I just dont have the room in such a small tent. I plan on cloning the best ones before they go into flowering. Hopefully I'll know which ones to keep by harvest time.

Re: First Grow - 4x4 Tent - Cap'n Style - Easy Kush - Non Sponsored - 650XML Advanced

Update: Humidity was definitely a problem for the issues I was having. I upped the humidity from 10% to 50% (lights on and off) and growth definitely improved. Since the 4th when I installed the humidifiers, Ive seen faster growth and nute uptake. The first picture is this past Sunday and the second is today just 4 days later. Lots of roots have also reached the bottom of the pots, finally. If I had taken care of this earlier, oh man. Oh well, at least they are still alive!

Re: First Grow - 4x4 Tent - Cap'n Style - Easy Kush - Non Sponsored - 650XML Advanced

Ok, busy week. Had to add a reservoir for the humidifiers. PPMs are now at 500 (was at 330 and you'll notice in the pics leaves getting lighter). I've also transplanted to a bigger airpot. I skipped the next size because the next size up was the same height but only wider. I am also still watering twice a day because of the airpots.

Is there such a thing as plants only absorbing so much light in a day depending on the intensity? With the light at full spectrum power at 3 feet, the plants would droop after about 13 hours of light. With five hours of light left in the cycle, it sure felt like I was wasting electricity. Also, the leaves were feeling hard after about 3 days at full power (im still experimenting with the light). In the morning they were uncurled and growth was ok. There are some IR LEDs in the panel and the temp in the tent went up to 80f (in the shade) and 82f at the canopy level (sensors exposed to the light). RH was at 50% Also, new growth was pointing straight up like it was trying to avoid the light/heat. I turned off the flower spectrum and the next day the leaves were soft and alot of leaves turned pale overnight along with the ppms dropping by 40 in one night--time to bring the nutrient level back up.

Im thinking the plants still need some time to mature to be able to take the extra intensity. Maybe a bigger root system by then when they get larger so they have enough water to help transpire and cool the leaves. They looked and felt waxy. Maybe the hard leaves were dehydrated?

Right now I have 2 stationary fans on opposite corners to recirculate the air like a tornado. The air does make the plants move a little bit but maybe I could use an oscillating fan on low to blow the air between the light and the canopy to cool the air?

I keep wanting to say these things are staying short, but they are tied down per LST. If they weren't I would guess they've come close to doubling in height since adding the humidifiers (JAN 4). These things are bushy. I topped every set, three nodes after the first topping on the two mains, and also the secondaries.

There are already so many things that I have documented that will remind me to follow for my next grow (at least for this strain) so I do feel like I'm actually learning. I would imagine my next grow I won't stunt these plants so many times. Anyways, here's Tom with the weather.

Got rid of the airpots. Just too many roots out of the bottom. regular pots for now. A friend told me extensive air pruning can stunt growth if I'm looking for fast veg times. Going to do some more LST in a couple days, then wait a week, then flip. These fan leaves are big!

Here's some pics on the progress. I have the light at 24 inches from the top with only the crees. Slowly back to introducing the flowering lights (increasing slightly each day for a week and a half). There's still some unanswered questions above if anyone wants to throw me a bone here.

I'm not any help to you on your questions, not sure exactly which post to look for them in.

But, I did want to say your girls are looking fantastic.

Yeah the air pots are not a thing the Cap'n still feels are needed. I don't believe he used the smaller versions ever.

3x3 cube, tiny pot, #1, #3, #5, then #7 or its equivalent in air pot.

Gonna build the mobile scrogs tonight and hopefully install them tomorrow. Finished pics will follow.

Recovering after more LST. I'm now getting a better clue of the amount of tops I should have.

Re: First Grow - 4x4 Tent - Cap'n Style - Easy Kush - Non Sponsored - 650XML Advanced

Alright, got the mobile scrogs built and installed them. First I'll say that these things stay short and bushy. I started the 12/12 today and I'm going to go with a 6 gallon res of the the VEG formula I am using. Then over the next five days add a gallon of water of the FLOWER formula. I'm going out of town for 6 days so before I leave I'll make sure the res is up to 12 gallons. I have a friend that will come over to check ph and add nutes if necessary. I'll have to stop tucking under the screen the day I leave for the flight so hopefully that doesnt leave to much above the canopy and make the scrog itself useless.

I did have to trim some fan leaves underneath because the screen pushed the two mains down and made the side/fan leaves cram themselves down into the rockwool cubes. I didn't go crazy, but I couldn't have them just sit there being soaked.

Over the next five days I plan to trim excess leaves under the scrog. All my stems (shoots?) are at the canopy level so I dont have to remove any of those just the leaves. Some leaves are VERY large because they were the early leaves off the two mains. These are the ones I'm leery about cutting. The other leaves aren't that big so two leaves here every day not so much of a big deal. I am worried though as some leaves have water between them when I move them around in the scrog. Leaves are on top of one another because they're so dense.

Room is completely light proof so no problems there. Humidity stays at 57-60% and will be lowered as flowering starts to show. The light is at 24 inches with 100% crees and 50% reds/blue. Temp is 75 day 69 night.

Any scrog growers with some suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Had to change the layout to bring the most bushiest one up front because I'll need to tuck more often.

They're still not dead yet! lol.

Re: First Grow - 4x4 Tent - Cap'n Style - Easy Kush - Non Sponsored - 650XML Advanced

Alright. Got back from Florida on a six day vacation. Had a friend watch ph and turned out fine. PPM's were at about 600 when I was gone. Had two gallons to add to res after 3 days of my trip to bring ppm back up.

The ppm was raised to 700 and dropped 100 points in 3 watering cycles ( day and a half). So upped the nutes to 800.

PPM dropped 80 points in one day. This is 14 days into flowering today. Do I keep adding nutes until there is barely any drop or just look for deficiencies at this point.

If I under feed will yields be really that different? The plants look green and healthy as far as I can tell, but in budding stage don't I have to keep high levels of P and K?

Leaving the larger fan leaves under the screen. Cant hurt to leave them there. Some have actually stretched their stem to get more light. Crazy. Here's some pics.

I do have a friend to help me but doesn't grow hydro and has only been doing it for maybe 2 years ( no perpetual grows)

IMG_073134.JPG

Moved some soon to be colas around the screen for max light exposure. Bent some fan leaves above the screen out of the way.

Tomorrow will be the end of week three. Tops would be more even but I needed a vacation. Overall I think pretty good.

The stretch seems like it's slowing down finally. Used some string to spread out the canopy to let more light in instead of cutting more leaves. This also made the canopy more even again.

You can nudge the nutrients up just a tad bit to see if they will stabilize, in flower you will notice the plants want more PPM/EC up till week 6-7 (10 week strain), then you will want to begin the ramping down process. If you do find stability in the PPM readings jot that down for your next grow with that strain as a good target.

I would increase each ingredient by something on the order of 2.5-5.0% and see what happens. That's a pretty small change but you don't want to go all crazy with things that are doing OK as is.

Re: First Grow - 4x4 Tent - Cap'n Style - Easy Kush - Non Sponsored - 650XML Advanced

Well, found two male sacs, one on each plant. Was trying to find out what could be causing them and well, my wireless sensor blinks a red light when it sends a signal to the receiver. I overlooked this because I just stuck my head in for a couple seconds to check for light leaks. Damn. My question is now that the sensor has been pulled, will the plants still send out the nanners? One was open just REALLY small. Hopefully didn't pollinate anything. Tomorrow I will give a full inspection. I can't believe I missed this one. DAMN.

I went back and tried to find out if you purchased feminized seeds, I skimmed pretty quick and didn't see one way or another...

If they are feminized I would certainly suspect light infiltration as the primary issue, if you purchased unsexed seed...I don't need to say what you already know.

My suggestion;

You can carefully remove flowers that show intersex traits or leave them on and allow some seeds to form.

If your plants seeds were feminized the resulting seeds are going to be pollinated with reversed female pollen and you may just become your own feminized seed producer.

Your setup is absolutely spectacular by the way. I love the humidifiers auto refill functionality and the double membrane RO system.

You could tape over the red light, but my understanding is red light tends to be safe, I'm not sure about that being true though, I'm not going to test the waters on something like that.

Re: First Grow - 4x4 Tent - Cap'n Style - Easy Kush - Non Sponsored - 650XML Advanced

Looked today and all plants have too many to pick off. Gonna trash these because I don't want to ruin future grows with a pollen outbreak. Damn. This sucks. All because of what I'm pretty sure was a red led light. I can't imagine any other stressors. Oh well. Might as well close this thread. Next strain will be "Crown Royale" from Royal Queen Seeds. Next time I will check EVERY inch. Even though I failed, I still learned a lot, though. See ya on the next run. DAMN.
