First Grow - 4x4 - 1000W MH/HPS - DWC

I was always told to keep the mh in until after stretch(same with veg nutes) and then switch to hps and bloom nutes. Also as far as defol goes, you can defol a week or 2 before 12/12 and then again after the stretch to open it up. I will tuck fan leaves out of the way in early flower to expose more bud sites to light but not stall the plant during the stretch period. Just how i do it and others may disagree.

Hey Lazarus, thanks for stopping by and helping out, really appreciate it.

Anyways, I do tuck the larger fan leaves down like twice a day as much as I can so I can expose the actual budsites. It seems to be working because each plant has many bud sites from what my very rookie eye can tell.

And if keeping the MH in till after stretch is the case then I estimate I have about 1.5-2 weeks left of stretch/pre-flower. Then I will switch to bloom nutes and the HPS. Thanks for the help!

11/28 UPDATE: Last nights update this morning :P

So these are the ladies as of last night. Everyone is looking pretty good to my eyes. This morning they had stretched a little bit more; can't wait to see the progress after night night time.

Gave all THREE ladies 3ml of M,G,B and B-52 this morning. Will add another dosage (10ml) of voodoo juice and piranha tonight. They have used up a little over a gallon of water in the last 24hours too =)).

ALL THREE

Thanks for looking everyone, as always; any and all advice/questions are welcome!

Quick Update:

Gave All three ladies 10mL of Voodoo Juice/Piranha this evening when lights came back on. Will check them again tonight and measure the ppm.

Here is my nutrient line up; most of it is for Bloom obviously here in another week-week and a half. but I am ready =)

Anytime in flowering is a good time because as the photo period changes in nature so does the spectrum of light. Although it is an immediate change in a grow room Vs the sun's gradual change. MH veg and HPS bloom

Agreed! The only thing I might add is that you can be strategic about when to switch the light based on how you want your final plant structure to look. The MH with the blue dominant spectrum encourages short, bushy growth. When you switch the the HPS light, the plants receive more red light which induces more "stretchy" growth. Basically, the longer you leave the MH in for, the shorter your plants will be, but the nodes will be closer spaced.

12/2 UPDATE:

Hello everyone, things are going swimmingly with the ladies it seems. There are minor imperfections on some leaves, but probably from me causing trauma and possible nute spillage. So I am not overly concerned about that.

Nute schedule: as of now, I am feeding each one EVERY day 3ml of M,G,B and B-52. Fed Z7 last night on 12/1.

I am thinking of switching the light next week; probably Thursday...give them a little bit more time to veg/stretch.

Once I switch the light to HPS; I will wait a day then start adding Bloom nutes.

Good plan fam?

Stretching can be useful, giving you more room between flower sites. Strain, personal preference and grow height are all factors. Root pron! Sorry distracted.

Ex.
Growing a compact strain might want a little stretch, vice versa with a tall growing strain.

My nutrient schedule says to use grow nutrients for week one of bloom. Then switch. I've always done this to help keep N levels up before the finale.

Okay cool, I think I am right on track with the light switch next week some time then.

The roots have exploded in the last few days with that Piranha and Voodoo juice haha.

I planned on doing the same with my Nutes; however should I count this week as bloom? Since they are pre-flowering and all. Or will first week of Bloom be more when they have actual official buds forming?

Myself I consider week 1 after the light flip pre bloom, getting grow nutes. Week two is the first bloom feeding and first actual week of bloom. It takes some strains longer to pre flower though.

Okay gotcha, thanks buddy.

12/6 UPDATE:

Hey there everyone, hope everyone is doing great and gearing up for a nice holiday season.

Not much has changed over here....JUST MASSIVE GROWTH. These young ladies have pretty much filled my tent already from side to side, there is not any space left for them to bush out more...this being said...maybe i should switch to HPS now> then start bloom nutes at the start of next week?

Still feeding 3ml of M,G,B and B-52 daily. Each is drinking 1/2 to 1 gallon a day of DO water as well. Z7 every three days (1.3ml)
Temps are staying around 75 with lights on (light is at 75% still with MH, flickers to much with 1000w... i think the bulb was messed up upon delivery) 65ish with lights off.

Also thinking of defoliating a little bit once we get a week or two into Bloom.

NEED SOME ADVICE ON THIS FAM, thanks a bunch

1st. week of bloom started the moment you switched to 12/12.

I grow Autoflowers, I am not switching to 12/12 ever. 18/6 throughout entire grow is what has been proven to be the best it seems.
