First Ever Grow - Auto White Widow x Auto Candy Cane

I haven't heard a whole lot about those king lights personally but have seen them in a few grows. Hard to say if they really stand up to some of the better brands or if they are quality built. I know some cheaper ones crap out a lot which is why I was leery on buying the one I have but so far no issues at all. Sometimes you get what you pay for right, but other times it may just be that good of a deal. I wouldn't mind trying out a decent cob light setup if I could get them cheap enough to build a couple rails myself for them. Put 4 or 5 of the 200W cobs in a rail about a foot apart or so and make 2 rails :) I seen a similar setup in a journal so I can't take any credit but that's the short of it lol

Cob lights? I haven't really seen them. They go back and forth on rails? The king had good reviews I just need something in the 200 dollar range to add to my tent. I'm still looking. I just really want a good yield. My ol lady smokes me out of house and home lol

Made it home a little early today. So I checked on my girls they are doing great. The big ww loved the topping and the others seemed to go for the fimming. I watered with 1/4 strength nutes probably go with half strength next water then just ph water alone after that. I seemed to have fixed the calcium issue in my runt. Probably start lst here soon if anybody has any suggestions. My big ones leaves are sitting on my pot. Will that affect them? Thanks guys

Ya light lst a few days after topping. id let them grow a bit more before i lst them also you can ponytail them as well but no more then 8 hrs at a time. Have you tried that before as well. That helps let the lighy in lower budding branches. Hope hat helped

Wow they are looking so much better now, especially the runt, nice pictures of them to. The leaves sitting on your containers wont hurt anything at all. If it happens to fall down inside the pot just lift it back up and rest it on the edge, eventually they will grow out some more and stay there if they aren't already.

It may be hard to start training them as they are right now unless the main stems are still soft enough to bend them over. I would wait until the lower branches start to leg a big longer and flimsy to pull them around. You will also want to train the 2 tops when they start to grow up some, give it a week and you will see a big difference in the size and flexibility of the branches. Don't make the same mistake I did though and get impatient, I broke off a couple tops because of it, I was rather upset at myself. One thing you could do though is ponytail the top 2 leaves on each plant for half the day each day so they stick straight up and put a garden wire around them to hold them together, this will allow light to the lower branches and get them catching up with the tops while you wait for the tops to grow out. you don't have to but some people use this technique.
I use pipe cleaner wire

I just got my roof doen last year 3300 and chimeny knocked down and sealed. Homes are cheap. Lol

Alright so it's day 26. My girls haven't asked for much water but gonna give them some nutes tonight. They are doing all right my runt is having some problems that I can't fix. Her leaves have spots and some tears in the leaves? My big one is out of control she is getting big. Hard to water. It's a little over whelming lol. Tried a little lst but hard to move these busy ones around. Noticing some purple on the stems. I got some pics out of the led. Over the top and side views

You think? I had a rough time lst bc they are so bushy but I guess that is good haha. I have done learned to fill my bucket all the way to the top next grow its making it hard to water bc the leaves fill the whole thing lol
I know im learning that as well. Haha.

Listen go to weedman613 profile click on threads started by him or see signature new grow. Few pages back watch his tutorial for lst ing seriously. I just learned from him.

Yes keep that middle open bud and those branches down even bro.

Alright guys how is it going. Been kind of slow around here my girls are just doing their thing and growing like crazy. This ww is getting tall. I just ordered 2 more mars 300w to add for flower. My runt is still having a trouble with calcium I'm thinking might have to make her her own water with more calcium. My other cc is looking great but a few of the leaves look like they have been chewed on but my tent has been closed up so idk what it is. Been doing slight lst but can't do alot bc they are so bushy but a little is helping. The third pic is the cc with leaves chewed. Thanks for reading guys

Hey dude, sorry I wasn't around. Had a couple late days at work and then had to do a side job driving limo the last couple of days lol Been quite crazy around here. Then next weekend will be my roof likely, so much to do!!

All your plants are looking great man. I'm not really sure why the leaves would look eaten like that, I have found random holes in the odd leaf here and there but usually like that. Always check yourself for creepy crawlies before going into your tent or even change your clothes if you were doing yard work and such, that will minimize the risk. Not saying that is what's causing the chewed looking leaves but it's always a possibility that I'm just throwing out there :)

Good call on the 2 mars 300's, couple of smaller panels that you can move around to exactly where you need the light focused, you can actually get a bit bigger of a space lit evenly that way as compared to one of a bigger panel sometimes. There will be lots of light coming from your tent my friend! Keep up the great work in here.

Hey my man how you been? Sounds like you're busier than shit. Thanks for taking the time brother. Yeah I got a good deal 2 mars 300w for 120 so I figured might as well. Yeah with only 4 plants I think that will do what I'm needing. My next upgrade will be to get new intake and exhaust fans. Them little 4 inch don't do shit. That tent stinks to high heaven but I love it lol. Yeah other than the leaves that candy cane is happy. My big ww is getting huge compared to the others. Gonna keep on with the light lst. They are just so bushy they don't like to cooperate lol

Ya I been alright, busy is right lol. Luckily it was a long weekend and I had some time to re-energize and get some things done around the house. I meant to get back here and reply earlier as well, been hard even updating my own journal some days lol

Wow, that is a good deal! $120 US? They may be the first generation panels (I'm assuming) but they are still a good brand and light panel itself. I find any of the decent ones are pricey, I tend to steer clear of some of the brands I see. Kind of like when you see a 2000W double chip panel that is only pulling just over 300W from the wall, seems a little odd to me. Most bigger brand panels all usually pull just under half the rated amount of the panel from the wall. We gotta remember that what it pulls from the wall is what counts even though we are getting more light.

As for the fans, did you just purchase and in-line duct booster fan? Or did you get the actual cyclone looking exhaust fan? 4 inch is decent if you can get the proper cfm needed for your room. Have you calculated how many cfm you need with the dimensions of your tent? Generally the 6 inch has more selection to choose from when it comes to brands and cfm ratings and these are what most people use for tent grows. If it were something like my 2 rooms ( 10' x 12' divided in 2 rooms ) then I would need something in the 8 inch category with a booster fan.

Plants are looking just fine though. The lst will come with time, it's just a matter of practice. don't be afraid to move them leaves out of the way when you need to, they are really bendy. If you don't think a branch is ready for bending then let it grow out a bit and keep gradually bending some each day. Just support below where you want to bend with thumb and index finger, then with the other hand slowly push top over, you will be amazed how much they bend, as long as you aren't trying to bend close to the node, ensure you are an inch or more away from there.

Hell yeah man I hear that. Yeah 120 us dollars. They were a package deal. I think those 3 mars with my side supplemental lights should be plenty for my 4x4x8 room. I hope haha. Yeah I went cheap on my duct fans bc I had spent so much I was trying to cut corners. Now I know I was being stupid. I read about cfms after I had them so now I'm just needing to upgrade them. I've been bending them out of the way for light. My ol lady was like you can be harder on them than that haha. I'm getting more and more used to growing. With help from this site if course haha. Yours are looking great btw. Most mine are looking good but so bushy that the lower leaves I can't tell if they are droopy bc of light penetration or bc I just moved their nutes up to mid strength. It's been just mostly checking on them but I've tried to leave them alone a little

Dam that is a good price. I think them ones were just over 100 canadian a piece, I would have to check again. Where abouts did you get those? Can pm me if ya want.

You can likely still use the 4" equipment that you have now but you would have to purchase the actual exhaust fan itself, then you can use your booster fan farther down the line to help out. What are your tent dimensions again? I can help ya figure it out if you'd like and then you know what to look for.

I see what you mean about the droopiness on that one plant in the first pic. Generally when the leaves are pointing downwards it is something to do at the roots. Is the plant needing water and are you getting run off when watering or feeding as well? Even though them leaves are big they should still hold themselves up. So find out if that container is dry all the way thru or not and water to get 10% roughly of runoff, possible that the top half is getting moist but the bottom isn't. If you are sure this isn't your issue then it's possible it could be a ph imbalance but your plants are showing any signs of that and seem to be growing fine. Are there any roots poking out the bottom of the pot by chance? If so are they nice and white or more of a tan-brown color? Just trying to think of what it could be lol I don't think it's a light penetration issue because too much light will just bleach the leaves, you would notice this right away. Shouldn't be too much nutes either because that would just burn up the leaves from the outside edges in.

You will get the hang of it, and you will keep learning every day! You can certainly keep bending them gals over some as well, your wife is right. Just do it slowly, letting it come back up then bending again, get the stem warmed up with your fingers, she'll go!

Yeah I got them on ebay I hope they work good. I couldn't really pass them up. Yeah I can already smell outside of the tent. I was looking at a 6 inch exhaust fan that was about 400 cfm. My tent is 4 foot wide, 4 foot long and 8 feet tall. With the droop I've been watering to run off about every 2-3 days. I mix my nutes and then ph it to 5.8-6.0 but I mainly try to stay right at 5.8. I've noticed that my big ww is getting purple stems on some so i upped the nutes to half strength and want to try to keep it there. Good news tho I was poking around last night and my candy cane runt is showing pistils already. I thought that was cool haha. I forgot to check if roots were coming out of the bottom. They are 5 gal pots so I hope not lol. Other than that they look and smell great. I can't wait for my new lights lol. Should I be watering everyday with nutes? You think it's a build up of salts or whatever?
