Thanks mate ;) I turn my lights out for photos, I use a hand held LED torch for lighting with no flash to capture closeups so it doesn't wash out the trichs, I use a combination of the torch and flash for further away pictures, generally try not to use the flash as much as possible :thumb:

Interesting - does turning out the lights not bother the girls then? do you do it at any particular time in their cycle?

No it will not affect the girls one bit if you turn the lights out during the day period, its only if the dark period is disrupted you will have issues :thumb: another example is if your lights stay on more than 12h it shouldn't affect them either, as long as they are getting at least 12h of darkness ;)

Ahh good point - If there's some fukup with the light when they are in flower then my plan is always just to leave em in the dark until things are sorted rather than mess about in and out of the light :)

Threw my SCROG net last night after some serious defoliating - I have had to defoliate less this time round, bloomed em from smaller and timed it differently, left it almost too weeks after flip

I went in my grow room the other week and realised the lights were still on at 11am and should have gone off at 6am, I quickly shut off my lights and rather than letting them come back on at 6pm I waited till 11pm to switch them back on :thumb: man ive lost count of the amount of times that has happened  just means the next day was really short

Hey feral. Just a quick question on targeting males and identifing them early. How do u do it? I flip then watch but in some of you pix its looking like it's barely 5 weeks and it male. How do u do it?

Hey mate ;) I do it the same old way everyone else does it, wait for the preflowers to come in, you get used to picking up on sex a lot earlier when you go through as many as I do :thumb: 1st rule I think of is the fact males will always show before females, if running multiple plants of the same strain you will notice them first, next thing I look at is the positioning of the preflowers, males will usually show offset to the stipules, sorta off to the side whereas a female will grow calyxes almost directly behind the stipules. I then look at is the shape of the preflowers, if there is any sort of stem its male, any signs the preflower is opening its male, females will have a teardrop shaped calyx. This is how I sex them but is probably not 100% solid, I have not got one wrong yet but usually wont confirm it till its showing full sex ;)
The problem with flipping to find them is once they start flowering and showing sex there is no stopping them, that then means more time revegging to get back to a point it can be used again :thumb: if anything id probably recommend taking a clone from them and throwing that into flower, that way once it shows sex you can dispose of the clone and be ready to work with the bigger plant :)
