Farside05's Northern Lights Auto - Soilless Mix - LED - Grow Journal 2015

Thanks Spart, but I know I could have done way better and hope to prove it next go round. Things were going great up till Day 30, then I did the rookie thing and got greedy and over fed them. From there on out I was chasing my tail. My biggest plants (height wise) will probably yield me the least. They were the thirstiest and sucked up more of the fertilizer overdose and took the brunt of the damage. The plant that was stunted from having a helmet is the best looking of the 5, although short. She must not have been drinking as much at the time of overfeeding and suffered little to no damage. 2 plants are ready to get chopped tomorrow. The 2 tallest and the runt look like they need more time, maybe another week. I'll post up some pics of the chopped plants tomorrow.

The first two plants got chopped today. Again, production wasn't huge but it looks like what I have is of pretty good quality. Nice aroma of pine and citrus (orange peel).

The other 3 plants were chopped on 12/7. I won't be giving a final weight since the wife started "sampling" the wares after the 1st batch had been dried for about 4 days. Just hope there is enough to hold her over until the next grow is complete. If I were to guess I'd say around 3 oz dried, total, off of 5 plants. After the harvest I went outside to empty the pots and refill them for their next go round. Must say that I was less than impressed with the root ball of all the plants. Only about the top half of my 3 gallon pots had any roots on 3 of the plants, and the other 2 plants had a few fine roots further down. I am thinking that using the jiffy pellets may have something to do with it. I let the seedlings go in them for about a week after they sprouted. The tap root had come out of the bottom of the pellet, and since it was sitting in a plastic tray, had no where to go downward and started to spiral around the bottom side of the pellet. Maybe I should have put the pellet in dirt before the tap root came out the bottom. Anyway, on my next grow the seeds are going straight into my soil-less mix. That way that tap root can work its way deeper into the pot. Live, learn, and grow again. I've already got the next grow started and just before I left for work tonight I poked my head in the tent and saw 3 of the 4 had just barely poked through the ground. I'll start a new journal for it and I'm sure the results will be much better.

I'm sure they will be better too far. Just with your learning experience from this one. Also just wanted to let you know even tho it seems you already figured it out. It is best for autos to go straight into their final pot so that the taproot can go straight down. That being said I'm assuming you put hem straight into your 3 gal pot

Yep, seeds right into soil. Wet the 3 gallon pot with 1 gallon of PH'd water. Made a little hole about 1 cm deep with my pinky, dropped in the seed, covered it back over, then watered it in with a couple ounces of water. Covered the seed area with a plastic bottle I cut in half to make a little greenhouse and keep the top layer of soil from drying out. Watered the seed area under the bottle with a couple ounces daily just to make sure it maintained moisture. So far that looks like it working.

Hope all is well in your world.

Thanks for sharing this grow with us.

Please head over to the 420 Strain Reviews forum and post your smoke report there too.

I’m moving this to Completed Journals now.

You can use the Report Post feature found at the bottom left of every post and we'll move it for you right away.

Sending you lots of love and positive energy.

like to know what your feeding schedule is like with the Dyna-gro. I just began using it myself and I am kind of guessing as best I can.

Everyone's feeding level will be a little different based on the strain they are growing, their environment, and starting PPM of their water. That being said, as a general guideline, on my most recent grow I started at 1/8 tsp per gallon of Foliage Pro and 1/4 tsp of Pro Tekt around day 7-10. That was using tap water that was 140 ppm (.5 scale), 6.2 PH, Pro Mix for soil, 3 gallon fabric pots. Each watering (about every 4-5 days when they were young) I increased the Foliage Pro by 1/8 tsp until I reached 3/4 tsp per gallon, keeping the Pro Tekt constant at 1/4 tsp per gallon. When they hit flowering, I increased the Foliage Pro up to 1 tsp per gallon. At that point they were eating every other day. I just installed a RO water system so my starting water ppm is lower, so I might be able to start off at 1/4 tsp for my 1st feed on my next grow and progress from there. Here's some photos from my recent grow. They blow my 1st grow out of the water.
