It originated from the Cockney rhyming slang "borasic lint" meaning skint, poor of little means.
Later taking on the revised spelling Brassic, then sometimes used as a slang word to describe very cold
weather in the North of England.
So simply "Poor Brit" doing "poor" mans style.
hmmmm interesting... do you know the genus brassica? they are cold hardy crops (kale, cabbage, broccoli, mustard)..... that makes sense that brassic means that.
