I took off lower foliage earlier snd finished topping a few weeks ago. I mean remove suckers so your colas are one stem. Images for clarity because I don’t write very well and might not be articulating it properly.

Gotcha haha. That got the point across. Yeah I pick em all off. Anything below that 8" worth of leaf you took off, I'd keep it cleaned right up down there.
