Exceptionally High FECO Yields

Another great harvest and plants that say "I Love You." It doesn't get any better than that!
It was already posted when I noticed the note from Mrs Maritimer. I got real lucky there bro.

I want to say I am glad to see you on duty. I get anxious about all these great 420 friends, (even you) and how they are all doing in these tough times. Poor @survivorx2 can tell you how I will hound a friend until I know things are OK.

Ahoy 420,
After a plentiful harvest it is my custom (when possible) to spread some of the goodness with the Vets up at Hines VA hospital. I know many of the staff and some blind eye privileges are afforded to me as I come and go visiting folks I have no official business visiting. We Vets will laugh and joke, and sometimes consume RSO under the tongue being always respectfully discreet relating to Federal prohibitions. The entire area is now guarded by police and my access would surely be denied.

Stay safe
yet loving

It won't be long before you'll be back at it Maritimer! They are actually doing the right thing ay? Let's hope for the shortest time before they get you back in.

Ahoy there,
I understand if you skip this photo journey of my layout. But it helped pass some time.

Good to see everything is ship shape below decks. Thanks for the tour I enjoyed it. I like your spaces.
I got real lucky there bro.
:high-five: You did indeed.
So did she, though to be fair. Your visits to Hines kinda mark you as good people even if you weren’t already. Lotta lucky people around you.
And Tennessee too. We think he knows he’s on to something real. (You can’t hide your true face from the all-seeing, all-smelling Dog. I know I spelled that right)

Ahoy 420,
Phone just had an alert.
Weather Advisory for Winter Weather Conditions.
4 to 6 inches of SNOW.
I have tomato seedlings about that tall.
Itching to plant them outside.
They currently live next to the Cali Orange plant in our first bloom room.
Stir-crazy moment...sorry

Dry Sift Hashish Day :)
This will be fun, but I only have one screen so no full melt. so what, bet I smoke it.

Straw Hat notes;
In the course of discussion with fellow gardeners other methods of getting more medicine from our runs have caught my attention. Specifically, the notion of placing the soon to be harvested plant into total darkness and a more devious suggestion that indicates cannabinoid profiles will be improved by directly causing injury to the plant.

With our clone mortality improving, the opportunity potentially exists for additional cannabis studies. I would like a closer look at both these remedies in a control based environment. So with an open mind we will set out to somewhat validate the enhancement practices employing a bit of "Gently Enchanted Science". I personally have some doubts, but I will refrain from advertising my prejudice.

more later...
Hope everyone is safe. :)

The thought occurred to me to try this on my current grow, split the stem or stick a big nail in the base. From what I had read most recommend doing this a week before harvest. I wasn't sure exactly when I was going to harvest as I wanted to wait on trichomes, so I decided against trying this approach this time. Besides one of my quad girls had split down the middle her stem already but that was back in veg stage, I think the purported stimulus to produce more potency is probably more a mid/late stage flowering thing. Anyway, I'll be most interested to hear your's or indeed anyone else's experiences and thoughts on causing a pre harvest injury to increase potency.

Re the dry sift that you showed pressed into a cake yesterday. It looked great and I wondered how you make use of it, added to a joint, or in edibles, infused in oil? I realize it is just the 'bottom grade' to make the sift but how much of the good stuff from that material would you think that you get from shaking or scraping it over that screen thingy, 70 - 80%?

to somewhat validate
To get close to validating the extended darkness/trunk damage theory for trichome boosting, you would need to have excellent macro capabilities, mark your test buds, and shoot them at the exact same angle and lighting before and after applying the variable (or not, for the control subjects, which need to be photographed on the same day as the test buds).

For science!

Please continue identifying control measures (hurdles) as you see them.
I will do the same.
Who know's?

Several 420 gardeners we know (@stoneotter , @Emilya, @Ganjagrandaddy) have/are utilizing the injury method, and you might have a peak at their journals. They are all well respected, and the opinions they garnered have value.

The dry sift was only for fun that time. I did not go for a thorough sifting as I just wanted a bit to smoke. I usually consume it using my bong, laying chunks of hash on a bed of flower. The flower helps slow the hash oil as it melts down into the bowl. I will use alcohol to pull the remainder of the medicine from the shake. My dry sifting gets at best 50% of whats available. Folks smoke the leftover shake I sometimes give away and tell me they still get stoned.

The next crew mustering for inspection. The dark one is pretty rough. We will grab a scope shot after soaking the seeds prior to waterboarding.
We will use our best extract this time. More pics will follow, :bongrip:
I just noticed my scope did not get the time change automatically.
Anyone remember where I put the book? LOL

Ahoy @stoneotter,
This time we are trying the AS extract vs. AS brass we used last. That dark seed promotes memories of an almost black Sativa that went around in the 70's or 80's. Had a bit of diesel smell we blamed on the smugglers running it in the oil tanker holds.

Fingers crossed

Hey I hope you hit the strain you’re after there. I dare say the hold of an oil tanker has a pretty distinctive taste!
40 y.o. beans?!
I’m all ears, Maritimer (I’m a donkey - it’s the story of my life!) I’m having difficulties finding the life in 10 y.o. seeds I really want to get into.
Sorry to ask you to go over this again - what is the AS extract?

Hi Donkey,
I had to go get a tissue and blow my nose I was laughing so hard...your all ears haha That's Classic :bongrip:

The America Sycamore tree is a known producer of ABA especially during periods of drought. In discussion with Professor Pete (really a professor emeritus of Biology) we explored the yet to be elucidated roles of ABA as it relates to seed dormancy. We have the notion the rise and fall of ABA dictates the genetically driven responses observed in the morphology of cannabis thru the plant's entire life cycle. With that said, it must be understood the homeostasis of the organism (GRN) will change the enzymatic synthesis and protein interactions. As a seed we need the ABA to maintain dormancy even as one or more stimulants are satisfied. Like a digital AND gate, the seed needs all the criteria to be met prior to initiating the germination sequencing.

Our thoughts on using ABA to help an old seed along go something like this.
Over time the husk of the seed deteriorates and the molecular binding of many compounds becomes unstable. Our hope is to refresh the level of ABA and recondition the specimen prior to initiating the germination. We had a modest level of success in previous attempts using ABA brass instead of extract. The amount of surface damage on the darker seed made us choose the more alcohol based bath. I will inspect the seeds at 12 hours but plan to bath them for 24 hours. We will grab pics at that point.

WIKI
Abscisic acid (ABA) is a plant hormone. ABA functions in many plant developmental processes, including seed and bud dormancy, the control of organ size and stomatal closure.

:high-five: I’m glad I asked. Thanks for that.
This sounds really promising! I like the idea of hitting every trigger a seed needs to kick start.
I’m all eyes now ;) so I’ll be reading the pixels off the page when you update on that!
Cheers.
