I'd say 180W to 250W unit would be the sweet point for a 2'x3' to 3'x4' area. Not to say you can't pull it off with to high quality 90W UFOs. Checkout the 420 sponsors page, there are some excellent sources for LED lights there.

Those are looking nice Endive, how are you liking the PG 140? I am currently using 2 of the PG 250's, just added the second one today. Cant wait to watch along the rest of your grow:popcorn:, looks like they are going to turn out nice.

Keep it green,

It is the current model Pro-Grow 140 Watt LED (Selective Switch).

I initially started out wanting the PG 250, but since I already had an investment in two UFOs, I figured I'd save a few dollars combine them with the 140 instead of replace them with the 250.

If you have a small growing space, I think the PG 140 is an awesome budget starter light (in the less than $300 range), far better than the "UFO" configuration as it has a good coverage and penetration combination (90º lens) and the plants really seem to like the spectrum in both veg & flowering. Priced at $260USD it's a good buy. If it were priced closer to $200 it would be a stellar value. For anything larger than a 3' x 2' grow area, I'd recommend a higher watt light.

Updates... Day 13 of 12/12 (11 weeks total)

The Gotham Hydro UFO is back in the tent for 320W of multi-spectum LED illumination, in addition to 207W of CFL.

Howdy volcoM, Thank you! I can't wait either! :wood:

After a rough start early in the veg cycle, they are doing well now. I keep telling myself "okay now, don't screw this up!", I've tried to live by the adage "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" but I keep thinking "Oh if I add another light here, If I bump up the nutes there..." I'm having a hard time staying away from the tent, to say the least.

Bel, the oldest is also the runt of the pack, about 11" (28cm) tall . Same phenotype as S-3, sweet fruity scent. Trichs coming in nicely.

S-2, Stout, bushy, tight node spacing. Started flowering sooner, but slower than S-3 or Bel, but is catching up fast. Skunky/sweet, getting stickier by the day.

S-3 would have been fairly tall, if not for lots of LST. What was once "stretch" is filling nicely. Glistening trichs and a dare I say it, a bubble gum aroma...

...And my outdoor tomatoes are doing killer this year! :MoreNutes:

Peace!

Re: Endive's "Chance Um!" Bubblelicious, LED Grow - 2010

looking great endive
i just bought the pg 140w light myself (hydroponicshut)just waiting for it to arrive
can i ask u a few questions
what distance would u recommend keeping light from canopy
are you using all the lights on at the same time ?bloom and veg mode

thanks and good luck with yer grow

Re: Endive's "Chance Um!" Bubblelicious, LED Grow - 2010

smokinweedgi - I've only had the pg 140 w for about 2 weeks now, but it is a similar output (per watt) & spectrum as the pg 90w, what I started out with.

Start at the higher side, then adjust them closer as necessary. Early on I got my 90W too close to my seedlings (10" or so), fried them. If the nodes are tight you're fine, if they seem to be stretching, lower the light.

Seedlings/Early Veg: 15" - 20"
Vegetation: 12" - 15"
Flowering: 8" - 12"

The light distance may vary depending on the footprint you'll need (higher = wider footprint, but less intense light). I think the pg 140 W is good for a 2' x 3' area as the sole light source for 2 plants, maybe 3' x 4' with supplemental CFLs.

Currently I'm at 10" - 12", running both spectrums (all the lights). I think additional blue spectrum is beneficial during flowering, as long as you have sufficient red. I think the final week I might switch to just the red, to simulate the diminishing sunlight of late season.

Re: Endive's "Chance Um!" Bubblelicious, LED Grow - 2010

thanks a lot m8

footprint;its only a small space 14" x 20" bit of a micro grow really ,so height will be for penetration rather than footprint

thinking of doing a 1 or 2 plant scrog in a custom made plant pot/basin thats just under total floorspace 13" x 19" roughlly

hoping lights good enough to flower without cfls but they can be added if needed

thanks again and good luck with yer girls
