ElDoctore's Self Watering Coco - Candy Kush AF - Pineapple Chunk PP - VIVA Sativa PP

It would be interesting if the frequent watering as you stated decreases the need for a bigger pot

A guy here on the forums produced great big buds in a plant growing in hydroton (or was it coco coir?) in a Solo cup buy using automated nutrient feed. It wasn't a full size plant, but it was bigger than you'd guess was possible, and the buds were huge. So you can definitely compensate to some extent. I with I had the photos. They were both comical and inspirational.

Today i topped the Viva Sativa. I realized after topping the pineapple chunk, that my attempt of topping was "Fuck I Missed"
So i tried today with the VIVA Sativa.
I just wanted to make sure that this is the right location for the cut

Whats up alios69! From my knowledge it looks like you took to much off .. Now I believe on the pic of the topping on your hand should have just topped the middle sprouting leaving the 2 outside stems on the plant. Looking great so far.

Retracting statement I zoomed in and its a good top with 3 stems !! My apologies

Hey MrB. Do you think it will have any permanent negative impact on the plant or will I get a split?

No sir you topped it correct my apologies. I zoomed in and realized you had 3 stems. I had 2 branches that I topped that got 3 stems that are doing ok , could be better with more light penetration so my stems got a lil dwindly

Glad to hear that things are going ok with your ladies. For a second I thought I messed up

These girls can take some serious damage..I got really stoned one day and got top Happy on my girls and I slowed them down a little but they completely recovered after a day or so

One thing I was thinking about is when the AF start to bloom. I won't have to do 2 mixes. Just add more bloom to the reservoir and it won't go to waste.

I changed the outflow pump to match the inflow. Used to be 1Gpm vs 1.5 now both 1.5. So it gets to a point where the bucket stays full, so I increased the watering time from 4 to 6 minutes.
I have realized the plants are getting thirstier as the water is depleting quicker everyday. 4 litres a day, now 6.
Maybe need to upgrade to a bigger reservoir soon? Who knows, let's see.
I decided to move all of the plants to 5G at the end of the week. Maybe the PP to a 7 gallon

They indeed do go thirsty.
After the topping the viva sativa just blew up, now short and chubby, just the way i like 'em.
Checked the PPM today, went from 600 to 450, i just added 1 - 2 ml of each nute to the reservoir, took it up to 750. It dropped the pH of the reservoir to 5.1, but nothing a little armor Si cant fix.
Made some over all modifications, put all my electric components in an isolation box, its next to the water and god forbid if something goes wrong, the 2 mix.
Started preparing the Coco, put in some pH'ed water and left it in overnight to soak, about to add the perlite then do the transfer over the weekend. The water in the reservoir that i wanna throw out, i will soak the coco in it before i transfer it to the pots. Recycling is key here.

In comparison to my first grow, the plants are definitely growing alot faster and bushier. Whenever i come i just check the reservoir water level, check the pH, then add the missing water, check ppm and pH and condition.
I change the water every 5 days. On the third day the PPM drops, and i just add 1-2 ml of each nute.

What i really like is the control of environment i have, essentially the pH/ppm in my coco is almost the same as the water in my reservoir, making mistakes such as not controlling the pH and PPM "nute burns/deficiencies" is very hard to do.

I start with an EC of 1, then use that as my control, if i see it increasing, then i just add more water, when i see it going below 0.8, i top up with nutes, and i try to keep it at 1 - 1.2.
The pH fluctuates around 0.2 a day. So from 5.6 to 5.4, sometimes it goes up to 5.8, but always in range.
I increased the watering now to 8 times a day for 8 minutes. After increasing it last time i noticed the plants responded really well with it. So i am gonna increase it gradually till i feel i have got to a plateau and leave it at that.

I definitely see myself needing a bigger reservoir, thinking of upgrading from 25 litres to 50 or 75 "can take upto 80" as they get thirstier.

Wow! Inspired! Great set up!

Got the reservoir set up.
I am beginning to notice large fluctuations in my pH now. Around 0.4 per day. I think this is my sign that I need a larger buffer.
Did some defoliation. Just cutting out the large fan leaves that have new growth under them. In addition to the lower leaves that seem small and sickly.

The reservoir has the pipe coming from below. 4 air stones and 1 return pipe. Bought a small table and drilled a hole through it, gives extra support to the pipe from micro motion.
Padded the table as well to reduce vibrations "gets pretty loud"

Looks neat enough. Will test it out in coming few days.
