DV8 Reg Photo Grow For Science

Struck a bit warmer today so the kids stayed under lights and shelter.

Oddy probably needed a day in sickbay as a precaution. Whatever went down seems to have not spread to any further area, so thinking it was just a careless water in both strength and application.

Topped one looked good, perky and strong, chickened out and took between the 3rd and 4th instead of 2 and 3.

LST kids are fighting me hourly/daily, should have waited, still its nice to watch them defiantly trying to shape upright aggressively. I appreciate the rebel spirit they possess.

The first Blurple arrived today. So did the tinned fish catfood so everyones happy. Cheers.

2nd plant decided to exhibit signs today, again from having them outdoors in the sun.

Not nearly as much, and oddy doesnt seem to have progressed any further...yet. Had a gander at the 420 problem guide, Im guessing a Phosphorus issue, first pic is almost dead on what Im looking at. Probably would explain a lot of the grow though.

Weird its only 2/7. Im miles from any specific shops to pick up a PK though without ditching work for the day.

The 3rd up pot looks great, hopefully no wobbles there till I create a solution.

Its drive gives me hope, especially if its in the face of adversity.

Loved its day excursion outside, as did Oddy and another sibling.

I have 7 and they all seem a bit stunted, but if I name them after the dwarves does that make me Snow White?

Mother farken 3rd one today. I just knew it.

Caught the local garden cetre, had bloom nutes, 0-5-20, not ideal but will have to do.

Still too hot outside for me, not sure whats worse, humidity or heat.

LST on the little ones is starting to take shape. Seeing the 3 up pots so far ahead in size (and they are still smallish) the 4 need to come out, and soon.

Bit of luck things might improve. Im not even half way and feeling obligated.

Mixed up kelp meal, squirt of molasses, pinch of epsom salts and some castings from my backyard wormfarm. Ive always got (not tested of course) good Nitrogen and Potassium inputs from the castings due to low carbon inputs and all the banana peels going in.
Banana skins are the staple diet of the worms in my workfarm. But they do love watermelon rind and mango skins!
They looked great from the moment my morning eyes adjusted but (and keep in mind 7 is probably double my grow number ever) they were Stinky. Just hit me immediately and there was no mistaking it.
Outdoor growing is just once a year, and after that long wait, it is a buzz to pick up the smell of cannabis coming from your plants, it's heartening and uplifting!
Heres a quick side by side of the two types, first pic is the one that looks more pointed and skinny in the foliage, like a hint of sativa trait rather than the more rounded fat others, is it just me or do they seem different to anyone else?
I running 3 pure sativas at the moment and only 1 has thin leaves, the other 2 are on the fatter side, but hey I'll take anything they give me!
Any advice for the topping? Sharp blade, halfway between nodes, any thing Im missing?
I have always 'micro topped', which is done when the growth shoot is even less than an inch, and 'wiggle waggled' back and forth to break it off, done like that they heal super quickly, and to my mind it avoids wasting a lot of the plant's growth only to then cut it off. Previous I used to leave on 2 nodes, usually 2 and 3, but currently I have left the 2nd, 3rd and the 4th node on, to allow a 'hexline' to train out horizontally, however if you don't have a lot of 'veg' time left, then maybe just applied LST is enough so you don't lose too much veg growth before the plant flips to flowering.

Not nearly as much, and oddy doesnt seem to have progressed any further...yet. Had a gander at the 420 problem guide, Im guessing a Phosphorus issue, first pic is almost dead on what Im looking at. Probably would explain a lot of the grow though.
To be honest, I thought it looked good, I couldn't really see the Phosphorus issue. They just look like plants grown in healthy organic soil!

Hey @Stunger thanks for dropping in.

I really did some serious time working through your old(er) journals and current one. Any Sth hemisphere info is great, along with seeing your results from organics.

I was very impressed fella, just didnt want to dig on old threads and clog up your new one or I would have posted up earlier.

Appreciate you taking the time to come in my little corner of the 420 world and post up. Cheers.

Hey you're welcome man. I really like organic soil and adding things that enhance it's growing potential.

@Stunger Was gonna pm but I need 50 posts. But here was what I was going to send.

Hey fella,

The group is on facebook. Its private but searchable. I dont think youll have any trouble joining but if you do, let me know and Ill send an invite.

They will soon have another hunting buddy post, not sure what happened to the old one.

Once you are a member go look at suggested groups. Im not a member of NZ exclusive groups but some have 5k members shouldnt be hard to track someone down.

Season is about done, it was a long one. I only grow and hunt Subs (psilocybin subregionosa) but they wont be back till late autumn early Winter, need a good frost, short days, moisture, and no heat. May is usually kick off.

The page is mostly ID, and aussies, been pan season so most recents will be around that, but if you work through youll find the kiwis, check postings from May until Sept.

Its called Psilosophy, one word, has a pic of a snake in grass with mushrooms.

Let me know how you get on

Hey thanks for that @DV8. I am not currently a Facebook member but I'll see what I can see. If around May is the start of the next shroom bloom then there is still some time to go. Growing them them yourself sounds great too if that it is easy and straightforward. Anyway, you'll soon be up to the required 50 posts so PM me if you hear anything interesting along these lines!

That is a pretty looking plant :)

Up potted Oddy, J always telling me less love more trauma, had barely 2 days to try and dry out so as a kind of bad hack went up a pot size to put some bloom nute solution in. Poor Bugger went full claw post operation. Was reaching nicely this morning, leave it in sick bay today.

Might give a mist with some solution I make for the strawberries this afternoon, along with the others.

2 have slept outside a couple nights, look good. One is shooting for the moon. 3 bigger ones are building nice growth at the node.

Topped one finding its groove, went the up pot.

Out of work early today, thankful, another hot humid one.

Up potted all but 1, training is a bit behind on it, Runt of the litter.

Oddly was looking good, the 2 outside got some leaf stress like Oddy, maybe not as bad, and are praying nicely to the Gods, one of which must be the Moon God, we definitely have a new clubhouse leader.

I think back and reckon I screwed up the ratios for feed, was trying to calculate down from 10L to 1L, then double to 2L and reduce to 1/3 strength. Should have grabbed a calculator, measure twice cut once discipline. I think I actually added 12 mls to 2L, and screwed up. For Northern readers Ill simplify and say the ratio should have been 40:10000 and added 12:2000 which is off the charts wrong. Poor Oddy copped the most.

Anyhow no crying over spilt milk, they are still upright. Might have accidentally kick started them, they are for sure stronger, taller and more vigorous if not a bit burnt.

Second light turned up. Maybe throw a winter tent up in Autumn once Im done and in the new neighbourhood.

I was able to buy a product called Mega Crop. Omg game changer. It is so easy to use, so easy, even I can’t fuck it up. Just went to buy another bag and Au customs say no deal. I still have a good grows worth left, but come next grow I’ll be chasing options.

I hate going to my local hydro shop, 1. He calls me “baby girl”. I’m 49 years old and I ain’t no ones baby girl 2. I alway feel like he’s slyly fucking me in the arse with his “this product is a must…” talk. Last time I went there he sold me this product, and my friend in here said “you know you’ve basically bought super expensive molasses don’t you?” Lollllinggg

Why is it that every nute your local hydro shop insists is a must has a random X or Z in its spelling?

Hey hey bloke :)

Where do you get your seeds?
Yeah its a simple question with a long answer.

These ones are from a mate Ive known 20 years or so. Breeds but only gave these to me as we have bond.

In general though everyone I know has had trouble of late. Da Virus also made things tough. Been multiple stops incoming.

Ive thrown a couple hail Marys over the place, here and abroad, Ive fronted the cash and risk. But there are hands out should they make it. Not the regular run of things but desperate times eh?

Had another guy, about 3 years ago sort me out interstate, a trade, but they all came underdeveloped and fuck all germed.

Gonna wait for the new digs in cpl months, might do things differently, sacrifice yeilds for genetics. We will see.

My local still stocked but owner is mia, no trade since March 2020 went it all went down. Pity was a top bloke.

Thats when I (we) went straight down the organics road and clones. Had to, could still go to Bunnings, but Vic was basically closed for business.

Kids are loving life, a little mist goes a long way. I run a bit of a cocktail of castings, seaweed and some selected greens (lucerne, dandy, nettle etc) diluted into rainwater. Its a bit on the nose straight up but fine if aerated for 12 to 24hrs and weakened up.

If I have a bit of a sick looking plant or growth, or post up pot usually gives them a good kick to growth flush.

Theres one real runt though, and Im not exactly sure why its getting left behind. It was the outdoors one, guess its true that a good start makes a big difference to a good grow. Probably a good candidate for some tinkering, would like to give it a chance without spending too much time on it. Has really not responded to LST.

Maybe an up pot to some stronger inputs, a bit of nudge with nutes, scrap the ties, run some regular foliars and see what happens? Try a frakenHempy pot? Blast a bit of LED on it? Ill figure it out.

Ill get some pics up later, maybe some critique would be good, for the main they seem awful slow but steady, by my estimate its about day 37. I know where Id like them to be, or should be, by 40, and they are pretty far from expectation.

Up pot done on Runtzy, so we are 7 for 7. Root structure looked good. Cant decide on final size pots though. Hard to see big pots on a late grow, and in this grow I wont be keeping the soil.

Going out for a bit of recon into the forest today, caging up for final destination. Calender says inspection at house due in Feb, best be a boy scout and be prepared. Pity as Feb is usually the hot end of the weather, but once they go they will stay put.

Would be nice to have somewhere closer, but nothing ticks the boxes like the forest. The 02/03 outdoor I had there went the full season from Oct (Spring) till April (End of Autumn) unmolested, and those 4 were big enough you wouldnt miss them at 30 feet away. More wide than tall but I failed to keep them under the scrub canopy at 4feet, the stretch was impressive. Above that line they were as obvious as if they were waving.

This time round for sure some will get driven lower, the risk there is the wildlife that sometimes stop at nothing to get at the plants, must be irresistible.

No chance of stray lights, or quick frost, open enough to catch good wind and breezes when the summer and autumn rains come in, and very little to no passer-by risk. Just have to watch the late rains in late flower, have dragged a tarp out before. Good spots are hard to find.

You'll certainly have some challenges ahead, hopefully they will go smoothly and you can get a nice undisturbed harvest when the time comes!

Herbies Seeds bruv.

I just looked at my tracking number and they are here in Queensland!

I bought Barney’s seeds. They are the only seeds I’ve every grown with outside bag seeds, and I’m going to say I’ve had 100% germination, coz the one that didn’t pop was only half a seed. It was obviously defective. I still have plants from my first bought seeds in the Tangerine Dream.

And a funny, I used to get in so much trouble here for swearing. Stick around bloke, they get used to us I promise lollll.

Joke for ya
