Duggan Does Desfran: Destroyer X Destroyer!

that desfran is going to be beautiful, duggs. can't wait to see the end product in ~11 weeks.

Hey Boogs...thanks brotha....if I can keep some control of the three of them. The single at the back is getting scary looking. Oh well, I asked for it ,I guess eh.Cheers Boogs.

A sequel to Attack of the 50 ft Woman may be coming, Duggan...

HAHAHA Ziggs....don't laugh....nothing seems to be stopping them....all I wanna do is slow them the f..ck down for another week or so...just til this stupid stretch stops, or at least slows to a normal rate of growth....geesh.Top of the morning to all my gang...brotha's.I'm feelin a bit sorry for not visiting all your journals much these past few days...just been so busy with life ya know. Have a great day all.

Subbed. Was recomended to learn from your super-crop techniques here. Mind having a newbie sitting around here?

Welcome to my journal Groovy Bud, and good morning . Thanks for that Sweetsue. I've been away for the last few days dealing with life and stuff.
Yes Groovy ...Supercropping. I'de like to make something perfectly clear for all you newbies about lst'ing topping and Supercropping. There are different times for properly using these three cultivation techniques. Supercropping is best done when the plants are very small...and is used primarily to encourage the lil side branches to start to grow..that's all. Topping is a way to get the plant to produce four main tops (at least) from one main leader by simply pinching or cutting off the main top a node or two down from the very top.Lst'ing is also best used to shape or cultivate the plant when it's small also...this method also encourages side branching to get going so to speak.
What I like to use is a combination of Sc'ing and lst'ing to shape the plant into it's final shape....and that's with an even canopy of leaders or "mains". Since growing indoors we have limited space up and out usually, so we have to cultivate the plant into the shape which best suits our grow rooms.
With my current grow of these 100% Sativas the SC'ing I'm doing now is being done strictly out of an emergency situation cuz I'm quickly running out of room up top. Not because I need any more leaders or evening out the canopy. If I had a choice i'de really like to let them go at this point but I cannot ,so I continue to "knock" them down just to buy me some more time until the dredded stretch is over.
So ,when you try SC'ing for the first time do it slowly and get the feel for your plant. Rub it and squeeze it a lil, youle feel the internal membrane break ,inside the stalk...this is good....it's what you want. Now after you've broken this membrane the tip will be very easily bent down at an approx. 90 degree angle. Don't be rough with it ...do this gently and only come down a node or two...no more. This will quickly repair itself over the next day or two and will be pointing back up in no time. During this repair time however you'le see those lil side branches have started to grow much faster now. This is do to Growth Hormones being re distributed to those lilbranches. After you do this a few times over a couple weeks youl'e see how highly effective this method is at creating the coveted bush that we seek.. Lst'ing is started at this point as well...tie down any leaders so the side branches can effectively catch up to the main....presto you 've done it...now all the leaders are pretty much equal. Now from time to time the leaders may have to be slowed down a bit...just lighly SC those and youl'e soon get the feel for your girls.....Have a great day Groovy Bud and sorry Gang I've been absent a bunch of days. Will do a photo update soon. Please bare with me...:circle-of-love:

Glad you are back! I was beginning to think you might have jumped ship. :high-five:

Still here Major.....Am very upset with 420 right now as they've turned down my request for contest reinstatement, but still want me to contribute....So...what choice do I have. I really enjoy all the Gang and simply cannot leave in the middle of my journal. I'm still holding out hope they will re consider my request but I highly doubt they will change their minds as they gave me a very long winded reason as to why they cannot. So ,that being said i'l continue to support my journal and anyone who gives a rats ass! Cheers Gang and have a great day.:circle-of-love::Namaste:

hey duggan, you've convinced me to purchase T8's instead of the spendy T'5's out there and I thank you.....any particular bulbs I should use for vegging....thank you for the advice in advance....

Yes ...good goin Shawnee...those pricey t5's. are just NOT needed with our grows and only provide a lil more light....simply not worth it. look at my plants..they were vegged with t8's. and grew just fine for the three weeks or so they were under them. Remember guys we don't want to do all the vegging under the floresc. You should only veg them for a few weeks under them ...that makes the transition to leds' much less stressfull for them. When I move my girls from the flor. to the leds they don't feel it much.
For your Q...try and get the 6500K lamps....basically you want the brightest you can find but those 6500K's. work perfect for me and they will you too bud....cheers and I'm glad you saved some cash. more growers should be doing that ...the expensive t5's. are not needed and the t8's. work great. Cheers eh.:high-five:

thanks, Duggan, 6500's it will be :thumb:

Sry about the contest Duggan, what a load of crap... I hope things clear out so we can see again some of your beautiful contest entries.

I used the SC you talk about, applied the rubbing and squeeze technique and it worked perfectly. Got 5 mains from an automatic plant who started flowering after just 3 weeks. This technique was perfect for them because it can be applied pretty early, I did it after the the third internode :high-five:

Anyway, I will do the same with my newly germinated landrace sativas but I think it will be necessary to LST them too. The closest I have come to LST is SCROG. I´ve been watching yours and GTs LSTing so I think I can manage.
Quick questions. What kind of rope you use to LST them? I´ve seen you use some christmas looking fluffy strings. Dunno what they are or where do you get em.

Thanks for all your help bro. :Namaste:

Excellent Engorage....Glad you tried the SCing. with your auto....ya they will really benefit from early SC'ing for sure.I'm also glad you took the time to do it properly and now you have the feel for it...superb bud. What some growers do ,is they rush it and don't rub and squeeze the stalk to first break the internal membrane...this should be done...it lessens the chance of breaking. Ya ..those strings aren't strings...they're those dollar store pipe cleaners and I've bin using them for many yrs. with great success. I like em cuz the're soft and don't strangle the stalks like reg. string or wire would. If ya need a longer one ...ya just twist a few together..done.I like to just tie them to the pot rim . They can be reused a million times too...they're great and when I run out I hit the pannick button, cuz they work sooo good.Ya the fancy colours I could do without ,but oh well. Cheers eh....thanks for dropping by and chatting.:high-five:

Ya know...either with the kit or without, Duggan and all of us who share the beauty of the cannabis plant are such helpful and just all around great folks! It's such a shame we're federal criminals. So so sad.
I give a rats ass bro... :)

Hey Scrubbs...what to do eh?? Just keep keepin on , i guess. Thanks for the support Scrubbs. Youve got some real beauties over at your place and by the looks of your garden you've got it all figured out. We're all killin Doc's kit...so cool to see us all havin so much fun!
OK then...got a bit of an update here. Took a few pics after work...i went in the wrong GR...must be someone elses???Plants just don't grow this fast. I wanna mention a thing about these Desfrans...they have a common trait in them that i'm trying to get rid of and that's the curling leaf tips. They all do it ..iv'e checked a bunch of other grows and it's a common trait....not so much...Doc. i'm pretty sure our HB soil is so good to them ,they're actually straightening out those tips for me. Not all of em but they're commin along nicely...take a look at some of em....see.
Last night the three of em got water /1/4 trans and about 1.5ml. of tea....that's all . Each pot got 4 gal's. I'm only giving 4 gal's. instead of the six they could easily take cuz i want to water with less but more often which is prefered in bloom phase.Lights have been raised ,almost to the upper limit. Flowers are coming on very fast ,so hopefully the stretch has stopped ,or at least slowed down somewhat.
They also keep getting Brixed once a week ...and that's not easy with these monsters. I've stopped rotating them 180 degrees every day .try to still do it every two to three though.Anyhow gang hope ya like the pics. Cheers and have an awesome night Gang.
