Bic lighters I have a huge supply of and so do my friends seeing we steal eachothers lighters all the time without realizing it so it's no biggie. I only keep track of my lighter if I its one of my tourch ones cause it cost me like 15 bux but otherwise I dont really care.

IVe prolly lost at least a dozen lighters over the years.. but IVe probably found 3-4 lighters that werent mine the next day as well

Since there's no scientific means to determine the difference between a forgetful dolt and a thief, I would suggest holding the lighter in front of the person's face requesting a light and holding your thumb on the flint wheel ready to flick as opposed to handing the person the lighter, protecting yourself from both stupidity and dishonesty at the same time (whichever it may be).
