DrZiggy's 2nd Journal - ACE Seeds - High Brix - LEDs

Cheers. I just have to work with my missus. She might freak if I try to keep 2 big rubber maids cooking in our room. No problems only solutions I say

Only solutions... even if they're an eyesore. My soil is currently cooking in two 18-gallon plastic totes, which don't take up that much room. They can easily fit in a closet, under the stairs, or used as a makeshift end table. Then again, I only share my room with a dog and she doesn't give two hoots about the feng shui.

Re: The Basics of Doc Bud's High Brix Blend Kit w/ Instructions

KB,
If you decide to go high brix, here is a helpful blog post with feeding schedules and the like: The Basics of Doc Bud's High Brix Blend Kit w/ Instructions - Blogs - 420 Magazine ®

I'm also growing in a small space and so I only mixed up half of the kit, which makes 20-25 gallons of soil. Since I only plan to use two 5-gallon pots at a time and will reuse each pot of soil for 2 or 3 grows, that half-batch of soil will last me roughly a year.

Happy growing! :Namaste:

Unless of course he decides to put them in some real pots....at least 10's.. Haha...I know...I know..me and my big pot thing again...:tokin:Cheers Gang.

I slowly top feed. i have to feed them multiple times with same drench, a couple days in row. pots are so small and no soil is left in them .
root balls..:)

the drenches end up in the SWICK. I use water a few times after a drench.

Thanks! I am currently mixing the drenches with about 6oz of H2O/gallon of soil (so 18oz of liquid for a 3-gallon pot), then I top water each plant until I get about 20% run-off. Since I plan to start the SWICK back up now that I'm in flower, I'll probably continue to top feed the drenches and hope that the moist soil will disperse the good stuff in the drenches. That way I won't have to pull the plants out of the tent when I add drenches.

To note, I mix up my drenches in a Nalgene with graduated markings, then I appropriately distribute the drenches with a siphon using a 4-foot long section of clear 1/4" tubing.

After my drench yesterday I was thinking this might be the preferred way to do it from now on.

Ziggy, I just put in the T8s and it became immediately obvious that there was going to be a challenge with different heights. My instant solution was to stagger the light height so the taller ones were under one light and the shorter ones under a lower one. To level the canopy out I popped spacers under a couple and had to set the run-away JH x A off the SWICK, standing it next to the tray. This makes it necessary to watch for drying out, which might not be such a bad thing during veg. My concern is moving them off the perlite as the roots get in there.

How are you dealing with lankier members of the class?

I bend the tall stems....i pulled a plant off the SWICK 2 and its standing alone....

Oh Ziggy, you brilliant madman! Delicious! Give me three months. :laughtwo::green_heart:

That Golden Tiger looks as deadly as its namesake. Malawi×Thai right? Whhooowee :slide::tokin::woohoo:

From ACE's site..
"..Golden Tiger feminized contains 2 Thai strains (Koh Chang Thai and Hmong Thai), and 2 different Malawi parental plants: the old killer Malawi and the 3rd generation new Malawi killer."

mine were standard seeds...

from site again..
"This feminized version of Golden Tiger has stronger Thai influence, is better yielding and has more refined aromas than the standard version, but the flowering time is slightly longer."

..I think I have a couple more weeks with the Golden Tiger.
The Panama is still filling in :) Huge colas on their sides..

Purple Hazes have a while yet..

I'm thinking My 2 P450s isn't enough for these plants at this stage.

Do you think one 600 panel would work, or something 1000 or higher? I'm trying to figure out what to get next month.

I have a 600 and 450 and a toplight 192? maybe..in the SWICK tent

The ACE tent has 2 x 450..due to size of plants and close proximity to light, the plants down get enough light .. I think 2 600s would be better...im learning as I GrOw :)

At this point I have the Mars Hydro 100x3 over seedlings for the first month, 4 T8 bulbs for veg during the second month (planning on some CFl side lighting here) and my Dorm Grow 450 over the two 7 gallon LOS pots. I'm needing something to finish the trays out, and was thinking a 600 would do it for them. With your experience, do you think I'd be ok with that or should I be considering something stronger? This is going to be my last big investment for a while, and I want to get it right.

Sue, I would contact Mark at Platinum..hes a member here too "PlatinumLED" and ask him. He knows his lights :)
i don't have much experience with these lights yet to give you accurate info. :)

Will do Ziggy. Haha! Never occurred to me. :laughtwo::green_heart:

I just found 2 seedlings, I think one is a Panama(+) and the other possibly a Golden Tiger (+)? in the empty pots that were either male or hermied. :)

I will leave them where they fell and sprouted...hopefully they're females..that will give me 2x 10 gallon pots...I better EWC, Recharge, Roots! and some used soil too, them tuesday :)

the plants show their sex within 3+ weeks when grown from seed 11/13

-I my try growing the Z'ACE seeds or some of them with 10.5/13.5...throw the dice and see what I get..:)

..Doc. I won't have to transplant this time either.

Your cannabis babys look good out there Ziggy.

And so do your hops.

Your babies are looking good.:Namaste:

Anyone interested in receiving a link to learn about HB foliar sprays, please PM me.

from Doc Bud:

"It will be a GREAT email series with tons of information! Please do not post the name of the lab here in the public forum, but please EVERYONE sign up.

Where to get foliar sprays? FROM ME! Same or lower price than the lab....cuz I carry all their stuff.

Here's an excerpt:
Many universities have boldly proclaimed that foliar feeding plants doesn't work. At the same time many farmers and gardeners are saying it does work. Who is right? The answer may surprise you. They both are.

When foliar sprays are poorly formulated or wrongly applied, it is indeed true that they don't work. On the other hand many a smart farmer knows that precise foliar feeding is his or her ace in the hole.

So here is my question for you today. What is your favorite book on foliar feeding plants? Tell me if you can? That's right...there is no such book! Why? The only thing that comes close is a scientific symposium of research papers. Where are the books to help farmers and gardeners foliar feed their crops?

Foliar feeding is the unexplored territory of crop nutrition. Those who truly understand the science are far and few between.
Cutting edge stuff here folks. Sign up and learn!"
