DrZiggy's 1st Journal Featuring High Brix - LEDs & Cool Strains

Gave everyone a nice dose of GE/Transplant and Tea
Lone Purple Malawi is either hermie or male. I may cull if a male and not hermie.
SWICKd plants are doing great. They got the above GE drench too, over the top, and probably into the perlite, not worried.

Ziggy, is there any reason not to set the tiers up right onto the big pot and plant the seed, letting it just grow down through the layers? Is there some reason other than tradition?

Even as I write that I realize that doing so eliminates using Roots! as you up pot. Could the soil on the tiers include the Roots! incorporated in it? Just trying to eliminate those extra steps.

I think there will be more roots formed if I let each pot get root bound, before tiering them onto the bigger pots. The tiering and placing on the pots will go straight down and might not fill the smaller pots as much.

I sure wish you'd use my kit properly the first time......There are far fewer steps than what you're doing now and yet you want to eliminate "extra" steps before you've even finished cooking soil?

Why not follow directions and use it the way it is designed to be used a few times?

Point taken Doc. Would you prefer I do a first run with a single plant before I branch out into tiers on this pot? I'm ok with that. It will give me a good look at how the soil and the kit perform. I was actually considering this already. I have another LOS pot I can play with tiers on.

And Ziggy, good point. Still new to the game. Sometime in the future I want to test that out though. The LOS in particular should develop a strong interconnected community that might play more of a role in root expansion than we realize.

In Theory, there should be no difference between theory and practice. In practice, the difference is made stark.

I have that on a poster. Practical experience is required! I think a single plant in a single 7 to 10 gallon pot will do the trick.

It seems to me if/when you decide to tier the pots, if you stack them all up in advance, you might as just as well plant in a single deeper pot. Restricting lateral root growth with the smaller pots doesn't make sense to me...yet.

Since I won't be planting before I can get another order in I think I'll go ahead and order a 10 gallon for the kit soil.

Wise words indeed Doc.

My poster says "If there is anything better than being loved, it is loving." That's so me it's funny. :laughtwo::green_heart:

Hey Ziggy
Looks like a nice sweet nug there :thumb:
Just wondering how she grew being on that light cycle?
Got a few autos I wouldn't mind doing but my tents 12/12 atm

Sir Budlovski, all my plants are 11/13. The autos were done around 11, 12 weeks after germination give or take a week.

So you're liking the SWICK Ziggy? Any concerns with the soil mix?

Looking stellar, Zig!

sweetsue, so far liking it a lot :).. what soil mix concerns?

My LOS mix has about 30% more aeration components. Doc's mix doesn't, but the high ratio of Promix should handle well. You're my test case Zig.

The pots are small with decent sized and with decent number of holes may play role in benefitting drainage and aeration.

The lighting has changed on them; a P450+ now gives them Life instead of (2) x 192topledlight and they did receive a nice dose of GE/Transplant/Tea same day as light change.

Isn't the HP Promix like 20% perlite? That would put your LOS mix at about half aeration material.
