Thank You Stunger considered a compliment my friend :Namaste: Anyone notice my bloodhound snorkeling out that awesome smell in the last picture? :passitleft::green_heart:
Totally missed it before - the dog has good camouflage in the light/dark. A good lookin dog! Love hounds.

Yeah, we rescue dogs too. We currently have seven. Here are two we were given last summer. Two husky-mix, beautiful young dogs. As you say - rescue dogs know when they have found a good home. Bella is the dark female, her brother Roameo (he loves to "roam") is the light colored one. Great dogs! Full of life.

when those pups find out you are sharing their nudes on the net,, you gonna be in for it,,

the much smaller, on-line growing community back in the 90s tried every trick the old timers used and some weird stuff. just some sites like - alt/marijuana - alt/marijuana growing, etc.

off the top of my hazy head

planting/harvesting according to the phases of the moon. not stressful but some swear by it.

twisting the hurd - basically twisting main branches until you feel the pop . this is the branch getting twisted and squeezed .

fire. yep, stress them with flames

nail through the stalk of the plant.

in flower, not watering until the leaves are pointing down and they have a few hours to live. then watering enough to bring back hope to the plants. then drought them again.

music - if calming music helps mello out humans and plants, lets play rock or classical. speaker into the grow room and crank it up.n

keeping in the dark for 24/48 hours or more before harvest.

weird stuff - feeding your plants with urine. outdoors only.

you must apologize to the ladies for this abuse.

more will come to me as i have some coffee. it was such fun when the actual weed forums were created, it was all text before this, and we could then post pictures.
I'm dying but grateful!!
Some of those have become staples like supercropping, though that's typically used more like training to put the stems for the buds where you want them.

Yup yup
Urine is a good source of N. Just need to know the source is "clean" since you don't want a bunch of pharmaceuticals in the mix.

I've heard of the nail thing, but don't know anything about it. Have any background?

@bobrown14 uses the moon phases when sprouting seeds and harvesting if I recall correctly.

Fire?!??!! Yikes. That's seems like it presents all kinds of ways to go bad on you.

The dark thing seems still up for debate, whether it's a couple of days before flipping indoors, or right before harvest.

Interesting list. :goodjob:
Thanks for always adding your thoughts Az!
Well I do the dark thing and because of Krissi starting this , my plant is ready for my liking to take another last drought in the dark for 36 hrs. Probably turn lights out on Sunday

Much love to ya and your awesome plants brother. Glad we could help in any way!
mmmmm lollipops :adore:
Riiiight
very nice.

those leaves are all knarly. was that due to a natural death or did the ferts do some burning? crunchy leaves are to be pulled off and crunched up. feels good.

i'm about to switch to Prescription Blend nutes. looks like they did a good job ffor you. any other additives used?
@Prescription Blend has my green heart!
Apparently this:

Robert Emerson

Pioneer of Photosynthesis Research

Emerson was born in 1903 in New York City, the son of Dr. Haven Emerson, Health Commissioner of New York City, and Grace Parrish Emerson, the sister of Maxfield Parrish. Emerson was the brother of John Haven Emerson the inventor of the iron lung.
Emerson received a master’s degree in 1929 from Harvard, and received his doctorate from the University of Berlin working in the laboratory of Otto Warburg
Thomas Hunt Morgan invited him to join the Biology Division at the California Institute of Technology where he worked from 1930 to 1937, and again for a year in 1941 and 1945. From 1942 to 1945 he worked on producing rubber from the guayule shrub for the American Rubber Company.

What is the Emerson Effect?

The Emerson effect, discovered by Robert Emerson is the increase in the rate of photosynthesis after chloroplasts are exposed to light of wavelength 680 nm (deep red spectrum) and more than 680 nm (far red spectrum).
When simultaneously exposed to light of both wavelengths, the rate of photosynthesis is far higher than the sum of the red light and far red light photosynthesis rates. The effect was early evidence that two photo-systems, processing different wavelengths, cooperate in photosynthesis.

When Emerson exposed green plants to differing wavelengths of light, he noticed that at wavelengths of greater than 680 nm the efficiency of photosynthesis decreased abruptly despite the fact that this is a region of the spectrum where chlorophyll still absorbs light (chlorophyll is the green pigment in plants – it absorbs mainly the red and blue wavelengths from light, leaving the green light to bounce back and hit our eyes). When the plants were exposed to short-wavelength light, (less than 660 nm), the efficiency also decreased. Emerson then exposed the plants to both short and long wavelengths at the same time, causing the efficiency to increase greatly. He concluded that there must be two different photosystems involved in photosynthesis, one driven by short-wavelength light and one driven by long-wavelength (PS1 and PS2). They work together to enhance efficiency and convert the light energy to forms that can be absorbed by the plant.
The light excites the chlorophyll molecules at the reaction centre and causes an increase in energy. As the molecule becomes less excited, its energy is transported through a chain of electron carriers to the next photosystem which does much the same thing and produces energy-carrying organic molecules.
wow!! Gnarly info!!
Still don't understand it, but looks like a positive for the plants.

Something like by adding a deep red spectrum photosynthesis is greatly expanded above what it would be if it weren't included.

So, the question is, can this be had by a normal bulb we can get at the hardware store, or do you need some fancy led light?
the fancy...
I use a photo red puck , UV puck and deep red puck in addition to my budget 250/3 light in a 2x4 tent . The deep red does the Emerson effect for 20 mins after lights out . The UV comes on for twenty mins halfway thru my daily light cycle and the photo is on full time with the main light . These led's are already in my light , I just supplement them with these extras ! They aren't very pricy , $35 to $40 per puck. These are things I have learned about and applied to my grows from this Wonderfull Forum full of GREAT PEOPLE !:passitleft:JUST LIKE WE'RE DOIN NOW :yummy:
I never heard of a puck. Thanks for this breakdown! Love this forum, too!! Amazing growers!

Guys I'm coming back and handling these in waves just to catch up. Got the autos trimmed and drying before freezing and making some hash with it. G was fine, just jarred her up this morning!

So I'm catching back up is what I'm saying and happy to be coming back to all you wonderful people with all this amazing sharing of information!

I see value in Robert's work in that he explains how we should not overlook the value of the deep and far red, but that is not the experiment that I am doing. My lights all include a good portion of this red light and have this component on whenever the light itself is on in its full spectrum mode, manufactured that way because of Robert's work.
I am doing something differently and have added separate deep and far red to my system that can be controlled independently and instead of a puck I used a manufactured strip of LEDs. This allows me to turn these lights on for specific periods of 20 minutes during light change events, ie before sunrise and after sunset. This gives me the advantage called the Emmerson Effect, practically eliminates "stretch" and allows me to extend the day period beyond 12 hours of light, without affecting the flowering period.
Em! Thanks for coming by and sharing your wealth of information! Happy to have you!
Mine are controlled separately also. The photo red stays on for the daily duration. thanks for adding Emilya :green_heart:
Hey burk, thanks for tagging her in and for handling my question of red pucks lol
I watched a pod cast about this lighting effect on kis organics. One of the guests explains it pretty decent I believe.
Thanks Reave! I want to look for it!
What light schedule are you going with? Rider ran 14/10 in flower in 2018 and grew big flowers in his red puck/RWDC setup with no negative effects back then:
IMG_055264.JPG
Awesome. Just wow. Thanks Shed!
It was my intent when starting bloom to gradually slide up from 12/12 to 14/10 by the end of bloom. The experiment was put on hold for a bit when we realized that we have Omicron and would not be able to manage the grow as tightly as we would like, during a major lighting experiment. We made two adjustments so far with the schedule at the present moment set to 12:40/11:20 with red/far red turned on 20 minutes before and after each light change. So far, I am seeing almost zero stretch and what looks like a shortening of the flowering period of 60 days, maybe shortening the bloom time by a week or so... time will tell. Depending on how the plants look over the next couple of days, I may add more daylight to their day to 13/11.
Thank you again Emilya for sharing this in such great detail!

just cuz

72 hours of drought, in my hempy,, growing at perhaps a slightly slower pace than normal due to some nute issues

but the beginning of the wilt is there, at about the length of time i thot it might. i actually expected the 72 hr point would show more wilt but the nute issue could account

i might suggest that it might be near another 24 hrs to get the max wilt,,

just an experiment to see how long at this point it could drought

i completely see the potential, at this point, because of less water usage later in flower and some kind of manual watering technique that i can replicate to a acceptable degree, a soil drought

Yes!!!
as soon as this plant and it's twin recover a bit from the leaf curl they will go into flower,, my plants always do so much better in my flower room

the fert issue i think is because i use mega crop, and i have so few plants in the system right now, i was mixing small amounts of fert and i think i was adding too many balls and not enuf powder,, the balls are nitrogen and calcium,, so, fewer balls and a bit of cal/mag will bring them round,,

i will that to be so please

:Namaste:
Thank you so much for providing us with this! And a bigger thank you for putting yourself out there to attempt and document it in thr first place!
Oh no, sorry to hear about Coivd and the Hermy. So the hermy pollinated the rest of your grow. That really sucks. I had my outdoor get pollinated by hemp fields, we just turned it into ice cream, I didn't worry about the seeds to much. I have a couple jars left, we will make some other edibles with that stuff. Wife ate the ice-cream and said she was stoned while sleeping. lol.
Ice cream?! Please tell me how!
I am very sorry to hear of the 420 hermie situation and the Covid in the house. We all wish you the best and hope all health problems will be resolved positively soon. We all miss your thoughtful dialog.
I will be on soon now that I am catching up here need to catch up on threads and my own, too. Want to get into a discussion like we had been just on some dynamics that were passed along right before the covid and hermies happened
36 hrs dark with another 7 day drought ! The most stickiest and strong smelling plant I’ve ever grown in my 15 years. Hats off to all who are participating in this test. Once again thanx Krissi !

So thanks again everyone for contributing and discussing and experimenting and tagging and rendering your thoughts and opinions.

I'm curious, how many people have you talked to about droughting since we started talking about it?

Oh did you guys wanna see the droughted and now jarred G?

Salute to making our grows better!

Now that just looks delicious. Incredible, and just...wow.
I'm so excited for her! Government strain #1 genetics, too!

Tomorrow will be 4 days hanging in tent ! Will check them with pics tomorrow night . Wonder if the drought makes them dry quicker ? Did you notice any difference Krissi ? :cheesygrinsmiley:
Hi Burk! I do, actually and that makes sense...I seem to pull around day 5 or 6. I put G into jars at Day 6 but I could have very well dropped her in at day 5. I dry in a 5 tier mesh canopy, generally lower on the humidity side towards 45/50, though and keep that room between 68 and 70.

Ok ,you are close to my environment. I'm excited to see them !
Stellar! I was happy to see G when she was done...and all the other droughters, of course! You will be so happy!
