Has anyone thought of root pruning a hydro plant into this state?
What would you say to all those who are super concerned of their root health in relation to the plants health with this proposition?

They would have to wait for the very end to try it and maybe make it. They would have to be a seasoned grower. The last days of life don't make for loss in my experience, even if the drought kills them. It's important to have people who aren't afraid to lose a few grams in the name of science too!

Maybe the idea is crazy too, my morning mind tends to be open.

In the beginning, I think you have to take your cue on the timing, location and breadth of root trim from evergreen bonsai growers. I believe if you studied a bit on their approach you would learn some valuable lessons and techniques if you plan to enhance your skills expertly.

Not at all far fetched. Think of all the things we have lost in the name of science to make our science what it is today. To invent what we have invented, didn't come without catastrophic failures. Even something so simple as I like to watch Forged in Fire. These bladesmiths put just as much work, time, and money into their art as we do with ours. They have ALL experimented and lost in the process but only to become better forgers. Think of all the animals we have lost, living breathing procreating life, to scientific studies over the years. The Wright Brothers lost a lot of aircraft and time and money before they changed the way the world knows travel. We won't win every battle along the way, but it's the war we want to win, inevitably

Very much agreed Charlie!
I found this thread and recalled this product my buddy at the grow store gave me to try. It does the same thing but you just feed it to them and it stresses them out and has similar effects. I’ll see if I can find it

Hey Reave, thanks buddy! Much appreciated and welcome!!! Happy to have some more ears and eyes on this!

Agreed Charlie! But LOS soil is my choice of medium where I drought. I'm throwing ideas out is all.

Ok the product he gave me to try was called Chito Sal, I have not used it because I have not looked into if it is organic or not and I doubt it is. "Chitsal is a plant based amendment specially developed to improve plant vigor. Derived from natural sources of oligochitosan and sallcin two powerful positive plant effectors." All kinds of things are natural, anyway I havent looked into it at all so Im def not suggesting it, but if it works with my organic grow I may do a test of it since he gave me the bottle.

"One application one week before transition to flower, one application every two weeks in flower" He gave me some fact sheet with it too but I recycled it, but im sure you guys can google if you are interested.

This is what i found quick

"
An Organic Way To Maximize Your Plants Full Genetic Potential.

ChitoSal has been carefully formulated to trigger a dramatic response using powerful plant effectors. Because ChitoSal is made up of oligochitsan and salicin, growers are able to trigger two separate plant defense pathways and achieve amazing results with as little as five applications. Our proprietary manufacturing process utilizes a perfect balance of oligochitosan and naturally-derived salicin to increase product quality in any cultivation system.

  • Increased cannabinoid levels
  • Increased trichome development & resin production
  • Enhanced terpene profile
  • Faster transition into flowering
  • TRIGGERS two separate plant defence pathways
  • Proprietary manufacturing process of oligochitosan
  • Increased flowering and bud formation
  • Compatible with all nutrient programs. (synthetic and organic)
  • Compatible for use with any growing media
  • GREAT VALUE only five applications needed
  • Simple to use apply only once every two weeks
  • Promotes tolerance to salt, heat, and drought"

This says organic so maybe I can try it out, but the thing i thought was similar is the stress it causes, this talks about two pathways, I wonder what stress drought causes exactly. Anyway sorry for taking up a bunch of your thread, I will follow along and read back a ways too.

That's new to me Reave. How interesting it is that folks are getting it done in many ways!

natural chitosan sources are oyster shell flour, crustacean meal, insect frass, mealworms
Oh Henry. Can always count on you!

I'm getting a workout getting through your journals @Krissi1982 , training for the marathon...aka Sheds journal
:rofl: my friend, you are so brave taking on the feet of playing catch up with me but Shed...oh man...I'm so far behind I'm afraid I won't ever catch up and then I just get farther behind. I'm in the Shed abyss currently MIA

People please...I have but one journal.
With like 932 followers that all comment. Don't even get me started on if a question is posed...there's 7.25 pgs of conversation just for that 1 question alone. By the time the end of the day is done, I'm 43 pages behind already
