I've only got one last hope... I ordered a 1000 predator wasp eggs; "Encarsia Formosa Eggs for Whitefly Control" and will see if they can get rid of the flies that always escape my spraying and vacuuming. If they don't work I am going to shut down the whole thing until they are gone. I can't deal anymore, mother nature is smarter then I am. I need to get everything moved to the basement anyway. I think I am going to use this as motivation to finally get it cleared out and ready to grow in. The wasp eggs arrive on the 27th, I will try to get a few pictures of them as they hatch, if it works I'm probably going to need to hatch them every couple months.

I saw the first electric bill since we added the solar panels: $100! You can't imagine my relief, especially since I have 320W more lights to add 12 hours a day.

Can you store the ones you do not use? Do you have to use them all at once?

Just thinking of my situation and if I ever need them.

They are pretty cheap $20 for 1000 on Amazon. I honestly didn’t do a bunch of research so I’m not sure how long you can store them. For me it’s a last ditch effort. But if they work out I’ll start adding them preventatively.

I’ve gotten live ladybugs before and you can keep them in the fridge for a week or two so maybe these eggs can keep longer.
 
Hey Doob, Sup.... I was just talking to a friend about those and he said you can store them similar to Ladybugs.... Also he added that you may start small and work your way up... He is quite sure that if he remembers correctly he started by dumping and ended up with a swarm... He has a big ass 20'x25' grow room... IDK just thought I would mention it... Green Days Buddy
 
What would you say contributed to your plants having this white fly issue. Asking for a friend who lives in SD, who doesn't want to go down that road. :cool: I remember a while back you suggested I not take my plant outside and other than brief moments out of the tent, but still in the garage I have been keeping that suggestion close.
 
I would add that it is also not a good idea to immediately go into your tent after spending time in the backyard around other plants. Bugs will hitch a ride on you too! :eek:
Rose bushes, in particular, tend to be loaded with aphids, thrips, white flies, and mites.

I live right on the canyon I bet they hitched a ride like @FelipeBlu said. I saw them over the winter and there was only ever a couple, I set the yellow sticky traps and thought it would take care of them. Well as it turns out they aren't very active in the cold so they just laid in wait, soon as it warmed up they started breeding like mad. It's totally my fault first one I saw I should have started spraying with neem or something. :(
 
Thanks, I'll be sure to steer clear of as many growing plants outside if I plan to come in an be near my grow. Early on I had issues with what FelipeBlu suggested might be Fungus Gnats and got some course diatomaceous earth. I had tried the strips earlier and just couldn't knock them out. One application of the DE and they were history. Would DE work with the White Flies or do they hatch somewhere besides the media? I still have a whole bunch of the small bag I bought, if you'd like to try.

Thanks for the offer, they live and breed on the leaves, and seem to leave the nugs alone for the most part, they don't really seem to be doing much damage at least unless I stop spraying and vacuuming every day.

I think in pure perlite nothing really lives in the medium except roots, and I've found a couple spiders that like to chill in the dry top inch of perlite and hopefully eat whiteflies.

Morning MaddHacker. Hope your day is going well, mine’s off to a decent start.

I haven’t quite got the balance between the pot size and the bud size I’m going for. The 1 gal pots didn’t produce enough, next time I will try more of them closer together in a sog style. That was the original plan, but once I got the results from the par meter I decided to spread things out a lot more.

Wanting larger nugs, a week or so ago I put three plants in 2.5 gal pots. That’s what I started hempy with and got decent sized nugs but not huge. This time I’m letting two of them veg a lot longer. I did put one (the last 1024 x Unknown OG) into the flowering tent. The clone mother had those male flowers, which although seemingly sterile, I want to keep it somewhat isolated and closely watched. It also matured in 5-6 weeks so it’ll be ready right when the other two really will need the extra space. Or maybe I’ll keep it solo in the 2’x2’ tent.

I also transplanted two Nukehead slow growing clones from the 32oz cups. They weren’t even really root bound, which amazes me cause other strains clones taken at the same time are just about ready for harvest. I don’t really know what to do with them. I would just plant them off in the canyon somewhere, and check on them every couple months, but I’m sure some homeless folk or hikers would quickly claim them. I don’t want to invite problems. I did recently find out I have access to my old outdoor spot. But it’s a 45 minute drive each way and it needs water every couple days.

I’ll get some pictures later today.

I’ve been super busy at work developing an interface between an online store and a point of sale application for dispensaries. I’m sure it’s boring but I’m kind of excited about it since it’s not the same ole casino stuff I usually do.

Anyway just hit the 72 hour mark without a cigarette. I’m sure I’m rambling like a crazy person, boy do I sure feel like one. o_O

My new future job since legalization here is working at a Grow/Dispensary... My BF got a go ahead by State... Gotta be inspected so they can estimate plant production for tax purposes... Next stage in a few months for us will be Remodel of Old Barn, very New England like, to a state of the art Grow Area seperated into Multi room fashion.. He has a really good understanding of New Laws and such, and all the cash... That makes him the boss ish... LLOOLL.... Anyway thats why I came here from a lucrative job in Colorado in the biz.... Part Ownership is gonna be a big boost for my old ass.... Any way Production will start hopefully by end of the year... I'll share more on that as it actually develops...

Good Luck on that, I am still fighting that one... I have had Marked success by cutting back to a couple that I hand roll per day.. Kinda a pain in the arse so if I stick to it I hope to be done smoking anything at all soon.... I am currently not taking any meds to help... Mind over matter....

Stay busy, it helps with quitting the cigarettes. Best thing you could do is quit. I finally quit after a heart attack! Interesting take on the 1gallon vs 2.5gallon. My take away from what you are saying is to get the quantity you desire with 1gallons you need to stack them against each other? The 2.5's produce more individually, but by the square footage do they produce more? Interesting test!
 
Hey Doob.....you can do it....just quit!
I quit about 15 or so yrs ago...as my mom was dying from lung cancer from smoking cigs for over 50 yrs.
She passed away...but said she was so proud of me for finally quitting.....best thing i ever did!
I miss her....

That’s great about the business. Years ago when I quit growing I promised myself that when it became legal I would do some kind of legal business. I guess computer programming for dispensaries is something.

Lol, I roll joints all day I wouldn’t even notice the inconvenience of rolling a cigarette. :rollit:

I’ve been taking my regular smoke breaks with a flower vape pen instead. So I still get the break and a little high to take the edge off. Seems okay so far. At least I haven’t killed anyone that wasn’t a whitefly yet. :D

I think my issue is mostly one of bud size envy then yield envy; the bigger pots produced bigger individual buds. I think four 1gal pots total yield would be about the same as one 2.5 gal pot in the same tent. But the 1gal nugs are tiny. The 1 gal Ob Wan Og’s biggest nug is the size of the smallest nugs on it’s clone mother that was in a larger pot, not sure of the volume, but inbetween the 2.5s and the 1 gal.

Because of the whiteflies and the move to the basement I haven’t taken any new clones. So the other reason I went with the larger pots is just to better fill the space since I didnt have quite enough plants for the sog of 1gal pots.
