I get excited and a little apprehensive when they go in the dirt, I don't always treat them the best and I've been known to kill a few via neglect. This round I'm going to stay on it! Hoping for the best!

Venom OG sounds serious! Can't wait to see this.

It's supposed to be devastating. Narcotic almost. I'm going to be making a tincture and edibles for my patient with most of it. He really like that rather than the Opiods.

We have liftoff! Sweet bunch of taps there. Hard to believe what those tiny little beans turn into. :Hookah:
Bob ;)

You got that right Dr. Can't wait to see what they grow up to be!

Update time My fellow 420 Magers!

First update is on the Rare Dankness Venom OG. The one that didn't sprout in the water ended up sprouting in the paper towel. I did all this work yesterday 40 hours after they hit the water. 24 hrs in the glass and 16 hrs in the paper towels. I like to get a good tail on them before planting them in the dirt. It's just my way of doing it and I've had the best luck with the procedure below. This is only what works for me but I'm certain anyone can get great results by following this method. Unless none of them sprout LOL!

This is how I prepare my work area This is 1 cubic foot of homemade soil using the following ingredients.

3 parts sphagnum peat moss ( I use Alaska brand)
2 parts perlite
1 part organic earthworm castings ( you could also use compost)

To this dry mix, I add 1.5 gallons of water. This leaves it workable but not drenched.

Next I set up my station and fill the pots. I pack it in there pretty good so there are no air pockets. Air pockets will stunt seedling growth and can cause death lol!

Here are the sprouts. as you can see all 12 sprouted. these were 1.5 years old stored in my fridge in a glass jar with silicon packs to remove moisture in the air. I taped the entire jar with black gorilla tape and put the jar in a brown paper bag. This ensures no light will get to the seeds. I then placed the paper bag on the lowest shelf in the back corner of the fridge. No snoopy snoops will find them lol! These were in the original breeders pack.

Next I start planting. I do this one seed and one pot at a time. I use a 5 ml rubber syringe (Looks like a miniature turkey baster) to apply 2 Tbs of water to center of the pot. I flick away any perlite that could fall in the hole I'm about to make. Then I use a bamboo BBQ skewer to dig a hole about 1.5 inches deep. I ram it in the soil and then use a circular motion to dig the hole in a cone shape. The idea is to have it look like a sugar cone. The top is about 3/8 inch working its way down and getting smaller to the tip of the cone. I then carefully drop the seed in only touching the shell. Some seeds drop right in, others need help. I use the bamboo skewer to gently help it in if it doesn't drop to the bottom. Root down, shell up. I plant deeper than most people. Top of the shell 3/4 of an inch from the top of the hole is the goal here. I find they are much healthier and the shell always gets lost before it reaches the top. Then carefully (not too fast or the seedling will rise) I squirt another Tbs of water in the hole. This should gently cradle the tap root with soil. It should look like this. Before and after pics. See the top of the shell there on the 2nd pic?

20160406_181526.jpg

Then I gently cover the top of the shell by filling the rest of the hole. Give it a couple pats to make sure you get the air out. It should be packed like the rest of the pot.

Then I squirt 3 more Tbs of water on the top of where the seed is planted. I plant the longest rooted seedling first and work my way to the shortest rooted seedling. I mark them 1 through 12 with 1 being the longest rooted and 12 being the shortest rooted. The last pic below is the 12 seedlings in my small veg chamber. I don't use a humidity dome unless it's below 40% RH. They just seem healthier when they don't have to adjust.

20160406_184829.jpg

I give them another 2 or 3 Tbs of water 2x daily until they break the top of the soil. Since I plant them so deep it usually takes between 3 to 5 days. I realize this is more tedious than most growers make it. For me, I just get better results this way. Unless I don't LOL! I'll update as soon as they break the top of soil.

I bough a new fan for the tent. It's a hurricane 16" oscillating floor fan with adjustable height. I realize this takes up floor space, but I never utilize all my space anyways. To me it's more important to be able to get in and do my work in the tent so I don't have to pull them out. My back can't handle it. I'll never be a 1 gram a watt guy for this reason. I try to never let them touch each other.

Here's my seedlings that will go in the tent his weekend. In the corners probably lots of room left despite how the pics look.

:thumb::bravo::goodjob: and all the other appropriate emojis all your way. That knuckle is pretty amazing!
Bob ;)

I know dr. That thing is nuts. I just noticed it a few days ago. Sometimes these plants just surprise the daylights out of me. :cheertwo:

That's a party right there. :) Loving it my friend. Let the grow show continue! :cheertwo:
Heck yes Carestaker! These days I party with my pants on lol!

Awesome flowers, I love how bushy your Cola is looking, great color and clean tips. Your making it look to easy.

Hey there Doc - looking good brother - love the 12 for 12 cracking beans. I had a feeling that last one was just taking her good ol time. Maybe saving the best for last right there.

I like how you don't let the ladies don't touch each other. That's good counter measures.

Did I hear you mention a new light?? That one I've been drooling on .... drum roll...... ? Ummmph. I'll have to wait I guess..:popcorn:

You're ladies are looking spectacular as always!

Keepin it green buddy :thumb: you're rock'in it!

That's funny you mentioned the foliar. I always filter a quart and spray the ladies when I feed them. They love it! I bout a 100 pack of paint strainers from a local paint store and they work awesome! Still have most of them cause they're reusable...

Green minds grow alike... anyone tuning in that doesn't do foiler spray - this REALLY does work! Results happen while you're are still spraying. 100 pack.. wow... that's a lot of strainers there, you could be a re-seller right here! :420:

Thank you MT, coming from you that means a lot. I haven't had burnt tips since going organic, but I know I'm not getting the max potential out of my grow. I'm starting to read up and plan for going Hi brix. I won't be using the kit though. I like to do things myself. Become self sufficient if that makes sense. I just gave these girls their first shot of red algae which is very hard to source here in the US. Off to study lol.

Lol I know, I've had them for over a year and barely made a dent in the pack hehehe. You're right about foliar. I've been doing it for a while now but your recipe is a step up from what I've been doing. The ladies really love it!

The new light will take 2-4 weeks to get to me. I haven't heard from Paul since I got the good news. He's super busy so I'm not worried. If the light you've been drooling over is the newest 8 panel GOD, then yes that's the one. I'm so stoked. Hope it gets here before the venom goes into the tent, that way I can test the entire grow with it!

red algae $45/lb..is that a good price?
Gigartina Red Marine Algae Powder

Shoot Ziggs, I should have been more specific. I'm talking about Lithothamnium exclusively. It contains about 65% calcium along with some essential minerals. I've been doing a lot of reading today and think I've found all the necessary soil ingredients for high brix. Now on to the foliar lol. I'm going to be able to do this very cheap. These ingredients are pennies per application. I'll have to test it and make sure it works before I share it. I just love all your guys high brix grows. The more I read the more I'm convinced this is the way to go. I'm not going to do the kit because I really like to know everything I feed my girls and I like to be self sufficient.

Thanks so much for the link. This is why you're one of my favorite 420 people. Always helping others!:thanks:

I just love your plants Doc! They always look so healthy. They look good for 23 days as well. Plenty of time left to get some nice fat buds cooking again.

You certainly are consistent.

Great updates & step by step info dr. All this time I thought you were growing the OGR White....had wondered about Connoisseur's. Now I know after your earlier grows.
:Namaste:

Hello strain brother! I think that was my mistake. I bought a pack of each and I think my first post on the last journal I said they were OGR. Fu**ing stoners lol. Sorry about that my friend. I will say that is 22.5% and my patient has been able to minimize his opiod use by supplementing with this exclusively. He likes the LCOG too but more for flavor and something that won't knock him out. A couple of friends don't like The White because it's too powerful lol. I haven't been able to try it yet. I'm in the process of getting off the oxy after the botched surgery and should be opiod free in 6-8 weeks.

How is the prep for your outdoor grow going? Great to hear from you brightlight!

Thanks so much Blaze!

I'm trying over here lol. Nothing like the buds you're growing but we're doing two different styles. I'm pretty sure they'll pack it on towards the end of flowering. The journey into High Brix is going to be very educational for me. I'll try to document the ride. For me it's less about bud porn and more about the journey. I'd like to think I'm helping somebody lol. Have a great day brother! :cheertwo:

Don't sell yourself short brother. Your plants are beautiful, and the buds get plenty BIG!

We have our first volunteer! Venom OG #4 got his/her first look at the world today. I'm pretty stoked. This was a lot faster than I was anticipating. Should have known better as they showed so much vigor during germination.

And here it is, say hello to #4.
