Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Yeah, you're outrunning your current root capacity in those pots. Heavy Transplant drenches will do more good at this stage, I think. It would be a good idea to get Doc's attention, though - I only have my instincts and mine are leery of Growth drench when they start to fade in the small pots. I always just upcanned, which makes that problem go away. Doc recommends keeping them in small pots until you can't stand it anymore.

But yes, they need more nutrition than the critters are providing. Are you spraying DeStress? That will help goose the herd a little.

As usual, I agree with Graytail. You could give her Heavy TP to green her up a bit, but a nice big pot of soil will fix her best!

Thanks Graytail! I did not yet. I will do a destress today. I really think they are ready for their upcan too. Not sure if I'm more anxious than they are for it!

Seems like the way to go. I think they are hungry and want more soil. Thanks Stoney! A few more grows and I think I won't panic when I see I leaf go pale!

I'll mirror those guys. But, while they look good and healthy, I'd consider a decent pruning to go along with that shot of de-stress before upcanning.

Oh, a quick question for me too: What are your thoughts on giving brix spray during/immediately after the Cat series? I have 2 big plants that got their 2nd cat yesterday, and the whole room is due for their brix regimen today...thoughts?

I know in the past, I've just made my brix strength slightly weaker and hit them on schedule, but I ran a little higher concentration on my Cat this time.

That wouldn't stop me. With a perpetual my plants get brixed at all stages of feeding. I try not to do it the same day as a drench but the day after is no problem.

Look at all the vets jumping in to help LG! I know the pruning thing can be a bit of a debate but many or most around here prune everything from 5 nodes down and right about this time too because that's a lot of plant to be supported by those roots and you want all the energy you can get directed to the canopy, not the smaller stuff down low. either way, your plants really do look amazing! Keep up the great work! :welldone::bravo::high-five:

Thanks very much all!!! Really great feedback. So... I will do a destress, a good TP drench, and some pruning. In a day or two I will upcan or when they don't look stressed out. Here are the root pics.

Doc and HB gang,

Looking for some input on these ladies. Big Bang autos, day 40 from breaking ground. They're growing well, but they just look so raggedly compared to my other strains. Thinking it might be the strain. All five plants look the same. Enviro is solid. Reg. feedings - last was ¼ Transplant (yesterday). Also, note the newer growth-twisted, cork screw like leaves. Been this way for weeks. They seem to straighten out over time.

Nice fine root hairs. They aren't quite ready to flip though. I would up your feedings and do Drench, drench, h2o, drench, drench h20. If you are dunking them, I personally would go 40 ml drench, 4 ml tea to 2.5 gallons of water.

Hi dajerm, the plants aren't drooping at all. Take a look. This I a few minutes ago and they are dry dry dry. You may be right, though. Last grows I tended to over water. This time I swore I would sit on my hands more before I reach for the jug.

It may be from when the humidifier was off for 10 hours and it's just a latent result from it.

They are starting to sprint now too. The top growth has more air/space in between the sets of leaves. I can't push my finger into the soil to check for moisture either. It's all roots now. They look healthy other than the leaves that I have been removing.

Something I noticed

I noticed when I first started using the KIT the plants grow so strong
it seemed like they would NOT WILT in the way I was use to, I was thinking at times
these will be dead before they wilt. So just a heads up I found the wilting was not
a good indicator for me the weight is my indicator now

Yes Gazoo, good call sir. The weight is something i have been suggesting for ever. It's the best way ..oh and get this,...with bigger pots, that may be too heavy to lift, try just tapping on the top , like a drum. with my 26ers., when i tap , and they are dry , it sounds almost hollow like a drum. That's cuz the moisture which was taking up space, is now been replaced with mostly air. Sometimes i'l tap the tops of the pots like this , to see just how dry they are. Crazy eh?.. cheers bud!:passitleft:

I did a good clip, a heavy TP dunk with tea, and up-canned with a good dusting of roots into the 10 gal. I'll see how they respond and if need be, will do a de-stress. in a day or so I'll start some LST. I want to open up the remaining branches. Not sure if I should wait to top once when I flip or do it before. Any thoughts? Here they are...and yes...it's a trash can. I like the handles. I drilled 10 good size holes in the bottom.

Really cool, Duggan!

I love that stuff! I'll have to try that - makes perfect sense.

Cool!

Yes, great choice for a pot...i love it. You got lottsa holes drilled right!! How come you didn't fill it right up...? ..LMAO...Had to ask...it's a sickness i have...:passitleft:About topping...do it now..no need to wait. As she 'grabs' all that soil , i'm gonna be mad if i miss how she takes off for ya. First she will build some roots and repair damage from the 'topping' then you will start to see some growth up top. it will take more than a day or so , OK,...so don't be alarmed if nothing seems to happen for a few days. it will take even more time for her to really get going. That's when you need a good solid plan on just how to LST her with a combination of tying down branches and /or supercropping her while she's still young and it's proper to do so.she is gorgeous Lady! cheers to ya...gonna be fun now!:high-five:

Yes Gray ,..it works like a charm bud. The dryer the soil/pot is , the louder the sound...exactly like a little bass drum.
Lemmy know ..it's gonna bring a smile to that old face of yours. (nice old face:hugs:)
Cheers my friend!:passitleft:

Haha! I think I was overzealous with my pot size...so I didn't top them off! Save myself a tiny bit of weight to lift. When we buy the house, I'll have a room built in the basement for flowering. Then I'll get big ass pots and put them on dollys.

I'll get onto the topping now. I got over the serious haircut I gave them earlier. Reminded me of the time my dad cut our hedge at my last house. I came home and I wanted to cry...I think I actually did. It came in really nice after. He knew what he was doing.

Got a plan...binder clips and have some plant ties to use. A little bondage is just the ticket!o_O

Thanks much all for your input and moral support! Y'all rock!:theband:

Hiya! The lower and some middle leaves are really starting to fade. Is it because they are pretty root bound now or something else? I planned a GE drench tomorrow. Just had a Brix Foliar spray 2 days ago. Highest temps have been in the tent is 78 but only briefly. Norm is 74-76. Here are pics of some of the leaves. Its both plants, but more so on the Tangielope. Lights are still about 17" away. Any thoughts? The newer growth looks ok. Thanks guys! :ciao:

Hi there,

How is your lighting?

Also, at this stage of growth I like to do 2 Drenches in a row, or even 3 when they really bound up before water.
