Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Do any of you know of a grow in a large container (4'x4'x12") Thinking of making a single large tray for bottom of 4x4 tent. What you all think? Would it work? Looking for thoughts on this.

I am thinking 4 plants. Would it work Doc? What problems do you for see if I attempted it?

I am thinking from the 1 gallon right into the big pot in tent.

Doc has mentioned more than once that raised beds are perfect for HB growing. That sounds like what you are looking for. I would want to know what you are going to do about drainage. You would need a big tray to catch all that water. I think doc is saying no matter what you will probably over grow your tent. You could probably manage it but you may wanna do it in a larger area.

Nevermind all those other strains...grape ape would be my first choice. Wish I could find an original

Me too man! I would love to have his Grape Ape cut over anything he has going on. Sure I would love the Lemon Paki, but the Grape Ape is what I have been looking for for years now.

LOL. I'm trying to retire the Grape Ape....desperately looking for something that doesn't have a fruit in its name.....but look at that shit! How can I get rid of it? I need something more spectacular to replace it.

That Sizzurp may come close to dethroning it in your garden but man, if I were you I would make sure someone I trust has it in their garden so you can get it back when you decide its been gone too long. I have one strain that I gave cuts out to many people thinking they would give it back to me if I ever found myself in need. Well, I found myself in need and found all those people unwilling to give me the cut back. One would only consider it if I took 6 cuts from them.... I only needed one and was not about to pay for 6.

I have seen some 4x4 fabric beds. I was thinking of a nice wooden bed with maybe some pond liner in the bottom to prevent it from leaking.

I may be misinterpreting this, but if you put pond liner in the bottom of the bed I would worry about your plants roots always being wet. Cannabis does not care for wet feet so to speak. If you want to do beds I suggest you look at canna and nismos troughs. They used them one run and it seemed like an awesome idea. You would need actual rooms for it to work out though still.

I have a smaller tent then 4×4.
Here is my setup and it works good.
In veg, I start seeds/cuts in modified solo cups.
Then jump to 1gal fabric pots that have the bottom cut out. They set on saucers.
I do docs method if drench/dry cycling the pots. Roots develops really well.
This stage is in a closet under t5 and blurple led.

My bloom tent is 27"×27"×63".
I run 200w of COB.
I built a wood box out of 1×12 and lined it with pool liner and it's fashioned to the tent rests nicely on top.
Cut out the bottom of the tent and put about 4-5" of perlite in the bottom with a raised plastic grate from the grow store embedded in the perlite. On that is a 20g smart pot with hb soil and a Build a Soils mixed seed cover crop.
I keep the water level in the perlite about an inch below the bottom of the pot. Keeps the 20g constantly moist, but not wet.
This keeps the soil life alive, active and energized.

When the vegged 1gals are properly topped and trained, I just set it on top of the 20g and away she goes. (Little roots sprinkled on the top under where the 1gal will set.)

Do the drenched from the top of the 1g and keep the SIP level constant throughout the bloom cycle till the last week or so where I let it dry out a little, lower the RH somewhat.
All other times all the water in the tent and my enviro controller keeps the VPD about perfect with temps ranging from 79-85 and RH in the 65-75ish range.

At harvest, I just twist off the 1g and put another, ready to go vegged plant on the bare spot, rinse, lather and repeat.

Couple key elements, I do NOT disturb the 20g soil at all.
The cover crop constantly grows, dies, and mulches the topsoil. It's probanly 2 inches thick now.
I also add a hand full of worms from my worm bin to each pot.

I've had 10 runs through this system before trying the HB soil, with 2 through the HB so far.
I don't expect any difference after switching the HB as far as # OF runs.

Every run gets better as the soil and life in it matures and balances out.

Works really really well.

Get a cement mixer instead
:thedoubletake::rofl::rofl::rofl: what a coincidence I mixed up two batches of Docs soil - 2 bales of HP-60 lbs worm castings and amendment today with a mortar mixer (basically a cement mixer), I drug out of the blackberries, hasn't been used in year. both trailer wheels were locked up, but it wasn't a match for my 56 JD Johnny popper crawler. The soil is in bags and are upstairs now, above the garage ready to place on heat mats.:Namaste:
