Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Hey Doc... so my clone is kinda weird... I wanted to train her, tie her down and spread her out... .sounds so beautifully dirty... anyway all the branches are stiff as hell! Like really stiff almost all the way up... the only really flexible parts are the top few inches... any tricks that could soften them up for a short period of time? I used to wait until they were thirsty, then they would bend to your will. But hell... even when she wilted slightly before water she's still to stiff to bend. Also, and this has never happened and I remember you saying the purple petiole thing can be a sign of sluggish soil... the branches are purple almost all the way down to the main stem... most the petiole are purple as well... but she needs fed or watered every 2-3 days is growing great and looks very healthy otherwise... any ideas?

Well, stiff stems are a normal thing in High Brix....purple stems are not, usually.

Is this a "purple" strain? Please post a pic!

I don't do much at all in the way of LST, so I'm not best one to advise you on that.

I'll get a pic up later on after I get home. It's not a purple strain... it's just Wonder Woman... but this strain has always had tons of purple in the petiole... can't get it to go away. So maybe it's just more exaggerated in the HB soil. Hopefully I can get a pic that properly shows the state of purple. I'll
Do my best.

Oh, I remember you said you use a head lamp to help with your pics... pick one up yesterday. The one I chose has a red, green, and white 60 lumen led that can be turned on one at a time. Pretty cool, will be nice to have that green if I need to go in during lights out. And the main LED is 300 lumens... not bad for 15 bucks.

All the advice I have seen says to do training after you water since it will usually make the stems more pliable. I have also seen people say to work the branches back and forth slowly and easily until you can get them to bend as you want. Some times neither of these things work though when your stems are already woody. I would super crop as far down as you can where it is pliable and encourage the growth below it to start moving faster and then after that start tying down all the tips you want.

Weird.....healthy to that in 5 days? Sumpin's up.

Maybe I didn't tell it in 1st post. I transplanted, and decided to give destress afterwards. Dumbass me got in too big of hurry and mixed way too strong. 7 mils with 8 oz of water. They kept looking off yesterday, so I sprayed again, same strength. Then I just happened to look at spray bottle, looked like motor oil. Then too late, already sprayed

This is one that didn't get any or much destress. I haven't used destress, but still knew it was mixed .5 oz to quart

I think it is but the Electric Heating blanket could also be cheaper to run than a space heater,
sometimes I need to raise the temps just a little. So It could be used for dual advantage if/when
needed.

I think if you put the heat blanket between the concrete and the foam you will lose a lot of heat having it heat the concrete instead of above the foam under the floor of the grow room.:Namaste:

Hey Gazoo! I agree with Dynamo. I had low temp issues and can't use my space heater so I used one of those under rug heaters, under the tent but over the rigid insulation, works like a charm!

Edit to add that it doesn't get warm enough to create fumes with the foam.

I might would worry about the fumes given off by the heating of the foam.

I will shut the lid now.

Both very good points, the Foam Insulation has a tin-foil type covering on one side,
if I turn it up so its on top and put the heating blanket on top of that and under the
inner tent material tray it could be workable.

I live outside of the box, been so long I don't even know were I left it

Yes...foliar feeding is 60% more efficient than root feeding....you temporarily gave them indigestion.

Here ya go Doc, and as you can see... the under side of the branches are green... these branches are stiff! Crazy stiff... he’ll the ones in flower now are pretty floppy... anyway here’s some pics!
Oh the pot, according to my IR thermometer says 80... though the top of the soil, has a fan blowing on it, days 70.

Try pruning off all the lower stuff. How long has it been in that pot? What sized pot?

That's a one gallon pot, I transplanted the clone into that pot on 9/24/17. It's still not super root bound yet, but getting a pretty nice root system. And I just topped her off with a bit of fresh HB soil the other day. I'll get some of that lower stuff off there... she just needs to stick it out a few more weeks till my other ladies are done, then she'll go to flower next.

I think by removing some of the lower, less vigorous branches the upper portions will thrive a bit more. At this point, with a large plant like that, I'd drench a tad stronger.
