Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Hey Noose! Your plants look great! No change in directions, I think the point was that some were not following directions and were not using trans early in veg. I think. Do you have a journal?

:passitleft:

No I do not have a journal at the moment

I took a couple of clones from the Jack and was thinking about running it with Darkscotia's thread that doc is also in

I may start one then
and follow what is done in that thread

:Namaste:

Yes, please alternate drenches throughout the grow. Definitely use Transplant in veg, otherwise the Cat Drench may very well bring trouble.

Going back through my journal i SEE my problem was ALSO not
alternating with TRANSPLANT Before the CAT's. (Only did the 1/4 with
clear H2O)

Just a point of possible confusion
The Name "TRANSPLANT Drench" gives the impression it should
only be used during TRANSPLANT and this could be part of the reason
some miss it

Transplant doesn't need to be used at transplant. Some say use 1/4 transplant...blah blah! Over the years I've never done that and my plants look just about perfect. I always water twice after transplant then use transplant, water twice again, then GE, repeat alternating between trans and ge with 2 waters in between. Ill flip after a GE drench because the two waterings in between usually bring me up to the Cat drench (depending on the strain), which is mostly "transplant" any way.

I may start doing this as well or cut back on the amount of drench I'm using... I've been following the directions, but think my ladies may be light feeders. Only grew these in super soil before so no way I coulda known that really. But they are starting to burn a bit along the edges. Good idea with the two waters between. Do you do 1/4 trans with those two waterings between Cannatard? I'd guess by your wording you never use 1/4 trans...

Never. Most plants dont even need the 1 mil of drench per gallon of soil. The original directions said 1 oz (roughly 30 mils) of drench for 6 plants in 7 gallon pots, so thats 5 mils of drench into 1 7 gallon pot. I usually use about 7 mils of drench in my 10 gallon pots with 3 mils of tea

The original directions were met with a chorus of confusion.....although they made perfect sense to many.....and everyone was making spreadsheets and schedules using mild per quart and stuff like that.....

I follow the original ways but I'm trying to communicate it to the people who prefer mils per gallon of soil instead of ounces per square foot.

Stick around Cannatard! I could use your help. Lots of folks kinda got off track and we need to get them their fake plants.

Quite a challenge all that weight/mass/volume... metric/imperial conversion. I don't envy the task Doc!

I've had a hellava time lately trying to finalise making my own mineralised basic soil mix - all the 'recipes' use cups per cubic feet, but everything I buy is in kg, and we talk (and purchase) soil volume in metres here, except when you buy a bag of soil and it's 25L. It took me until yesterday to work out/discover that 1cubic metre is 35cubic ft (please someone correct me if I'm wrong)! Not to mention the differences btw metric cups and US cups. Broke my brain - and meant I hadn't purchased nearly enough rock dust!

So many different brains... so many different units of measurement... so much room for interpretation or error .. You might end up having to give your ratios in 2-3 different ways to cover more bases for the many ways people can interpret directions - and then still have people get it 'wrong' .. (Maybe you do this already... I haven't looked at the instructions for a while...)

.

I'm with ya Gazoo, I didn't use trans at all during my 1st run, when I gave them cat is when they kinda got wonky. This run I'm using trans lol, veg girls look so much happier

I believe you are correct Amy!
These conversions..... they DO require a bit of head scratching and re-checking don't they?

Why would you not use transplant in veg? In my experience, its the most important part of the kit...brix is a close second. I love hitting them with brix then Trans a couple of days later. 2 days after that they're usually looking pretty damn amazing!

Re: Doc Bud - High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Hey guys, if youre vegging in 1 gallon pots, dont be afraid to pull the plant out of the pot to take a look at the root ball. If it looks like it's close to being bound, transplant by all means. If not, give em another week or so. Your patience will be rewarded. Just make sure to score the ball really well and use plenty of ROOTS in the hole and on the ball...dont be shy with the stuff. Oh, and dont use any nutes for at least 2 waterings after that, no 1/4 trans or any of that malarkey, just plain ol water
