Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Thus begins the war on bugs. Gonna run a 3x regimen of azamax of like 12-14 days, interspersed with respective brix and diluted destress basically every other morning pre-dawn (ie, they get sprayed every other day, each one, once a week). I've been blastin em so much lately the water spots had me scairt of PM...until i noticed it was on the big top leaves hahah in the light and wind.....everything gives me a coronary in the garden these days...

Hopefully we can keep these buggers goin to day 70 and they'll have a couple weeks to just chill at the end.

Next probably gonna do epsoms, ewc and a og drench or 2...how often u guys use og drench? I got the mix destructions but not sure how many applications how often...

If everything looks good gonna try to run a bunch of plain water at the end and flush em a bit, I dont think I can do it like doc suggested with my giant pots (cant lift em~!) Open to suggestions.

BK, have you tried Sierra Natural Sciences? theyre an excellent company with great products and happen to be sponsors here on 420..

they have FREE sample packs too...you only have to pay S&H..

try it..

I would like to ask a quick question please...
I have 3 kits that have been cooking for 2 and 3 months roughly. They are in a closet that has a linoleum/tile type flooring. I stepped into it the other day and noticed it was cold to the touch. I know to move these to either a carpeted area, or place an insulating barrier between the kits and the floor.
I have them in those yellow totes that are popular, and some of them are stacked. Lastly, I intend to start putting them to use in mid January.

Now for the questions:
1) The totes stacked on top should be fine to start with the 1 gallon pots?
2) Should I do anything to restart or revive the totes on the floor? (outside of moving or insulating them)

:thanks:

I try to use the OG drench no more than twice. The stems soften up like "normal" plants pretty fast with that stuff. Your mitefight is being done right. I don't think you'll have much trouble, especially judging by the looks of the tops.

Mine have calmed down dramatically, since getting mostly first run soil in the room.

The totes that are stacked up off the floor are fine. The one on the cold floor must be insulated and warmed up. A half gallon of warm water with a splash of Tea will do the trick! Warm...not hot. 80 degrees or so.

You could if you wanted to. Hard to say if it would make much difference.

Thanks again,
I thought I recalled a post where you told someone, something along these lines: "Let me guess, you used the soil on top of the tote and then when you got to the soil towards the bottom of the tote on concrete you had problems"

I figured if the lower soil of the tote was more affected than the top half, it might help to mix and blend it in.

I will most likely mix it, unless you thought otherwise.

Yes, I remember saying that. The key is to get the soil off the cold floor. The top half of the tote might be OK....but the lower half won't be. If you get it off the ground and wake it up, you'll be fine.

Hey Doc. Been lurking for awhile and decided to finally jump in. The things you and a few others here have accomplished are amazing. Planning my first real grow due to the end of the prohibition here in Mass. I still have plenty to learn but I've researched enough to know that HB is the way to go. Please tell me you have a kit with my name on it ?!

I bet you get a pm from Doc shortly! What do you plan on growing?

you will get a private message from Doc shortly..

:)

Thanks. Big fan of this site and the vibe from everyone is like one big family. Not sure yet on the strain but I want a 4x4 scrog setup. Maybe some autos first. In the process of saving money for a light and I'm looking towards led, specifically the perfect sun 1000. Any comments are highly welcome.

Hey ND! Welcome to 420 mag! Wise move looking at Doc's kit! Also, the perfect sun which requires a light mover o you may consider the Goliath which does not, same excellent light spectrum. That's what I run in a 4x4. I found that growing is not inexpensive, costs seem to add up but many on here are doing it on a budget, some use only cfls that you can get at any store. I started with a 600w hid mh/HPS dimable that came with hangars and a timer for like $150, got from the zon. Wound up getting 2 of em. Start a journal once you get started and ask as many question as you need to, there are lots of very helpful and knowledgable people here.

Good luck! :passitleft:

Hi ND, welcome!

Not questioning your choice of PS1000, just asking question in general, would a scrog grow really benefit from that much light penetration? I grow with scrog as a way to deal with limited light penetration of my smaller cheaper lights. More light will obviously increase yield, but is there an upper limit or diminishing returns from increasing light in a scrog?

I don't need new lighting, but I like to fantasize about upgrades. Besides, 'need' is relative, right? :)

Heheh, yeah if comments are welcome ...

I agree. I would strongly recommend that you do what Rabbi did and get a cheapo 600 watt hps from the 'zon. That's what I started with too, and it's still a strong choice - best bang for the buck and it grows very nice flowers in a 4x4. Put the extra money into environmental control first. Get your temps and humidity controllable and you'll outdo the growers with the big strong lights.

I grew some of my best weed under a cheapo 600W hps. :thumb: LEDs will be cheaper later too, when you actually know what you want.

all i want for christmas is bulk kit gear, cheer!

Pretty sure that lighting follows the same formula we have developed over on teh snowboarding forums.

The correct amount of lighting is = n + 1

where n = current lighting

Finally the good ol Commonwealth has seen the light :slide: I"m on the same journey as well about to get my tent/lights/filter in by this weekend and now finally looking into Doc's Kit. I'm finding that its a pain in the @ss to try to piece together the individual components of the kit (I can't find organic worm castings with the NKP ration of 1-1-0, mostly finding 1-0-0) etc. Was wondering if I could get a complete kit from Doc as well. Please PM me anyone that can help!

Ok, cool, I didn't know if I had to follow Doc's instructions to a T. I still prefer to get the kit from Doc directly, I PM'd him so hopefully I can get sorted out soon enough. Thanks for the reply!
