It's like when I worked at a restaurant and we told the new people to water the plants (they were plastic). But in this case you go into the garden and think someone put fake plants in there. Then you realize they are real, but just perfection. And they are yours.

Doc,

Didn't want to clog your Gavita thread with bloodmeal Q's.
Today is 1 week since flip. Is now a good time for the 4 tbls top dress/bloodmeal?
Along side of my GG#4 is a critical mass. Any idea if indicas like the bloodmeal? Don't want to shock her.

Now would be a fine time to do that. However, don't you want to see what they are like without the blood? I only use it on strains that need it.

Finally harvested my first Hi-Brix...

Want to thank all who stopped by my journal to help and support my grow. :circle-of-love:

I'm putting a clone of her into flower in a couple weeks to see if I can do better, so I'll keep my journal current for one more grow.

770 grams wet, maybe 5 - 5.5 OZ dry.

I'll just leave this here...

Luscious, sticky, clean harvest. I can't wait to hear all about it. Please come by with a smoke report as soon as possible. Well done!

A very good morning to everyone. Yes , i'de like to offer a tip , as far as soil compaction and pots go.
With my last grow of Kosher Kush , what I did with that crop while I was prepping the pots was , I really packed the soil down hard every 6" or so while I was filling the "rootbuilder" pots. They the "rootbuilder' people say to compact the soil down while filling so it gets in all the little dibbitts in the pots....I did this but after having a couple issues with that grow , I now realize it very well could have been that the soil was just too compacted for really good micro bio health. What ya think guys....and gals?
With my present journal I did the opposite this time and did NO pressing down of the soil at all.....bettya these do better because of it! Cheers gang !:circle-of-love:

Duggs I never compact the soil when transplanting. I means you have to be careful when moving the pots because they can shift around a bit an break roots if you are not careful but I have always thought compaction was the enemy. I just loose fill the posts and top dress when it gets a bit lower. Once roots colonize nicely they help avoid more compaction. I think you will like the change!

Ya Shiggs...I normally don't compact it like that....dunno what came over me last grow.....Oh well, I'm still learning eh!:tokin::high-five:

Compaction isn't a huge issue with this soil, but I've never tried to force it down into the pots, either. I just gently dribble about 1/2 gallon down the top at time of transplant, and fill the saucer. It finds its own level, which is usually pretty loose.

I very lightly pack the soil and let the normal compaction from watering do its thing. The soil is nice and loose for new roots, but gets more firm as the roots mature and the plant gets bigger, needing the added support/stability. As it compacts slightly, it leaves me the room I want for some EWC, recharge, or other bloom amendments.

I do same. The settling that takes place makes it easier to add ewc, fresh soil, recharge etc. It always seems to settle to just the right point.

I noticed the same thing! When it's time for the flip, there's always an inch or so of extra room to add the EWC and Recharge.

Amazing thread! So much to learn. Working my way through.
