Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Morning Gang! Hope all is well with everyone
I’m getting ready for the first round of cats, Doc I believe I’ve prepped well leading in my feedings went as follow GE W/ Tea, a Half strength TP W/Tea, a strong TP W/tea. Now the cats, I do want to note this may not be conventional however my ladies are drinking every 2 days so they are heavy feeders. My question is should I let the soil dry a bit more before cats
Here’s a head shot of the 4 and a group they are all healthy and loving everything I’m giving them so far. Also I did hit them with snake oil but I didn’t time it a week before cats( I did add that to my notes for next run, Thank you Doc) they did get a strong brix a week ago

I try to let them dry out fairly thoroughly before any watering or feeding in flower. Not to where they go limp, but not to far from it. Cannabis likes the soil on the drier side in my experience.

Yep! The only thing to keep in mind is that when it goes dry, the voltage drops.....which is fine in veg. But not in bloom!

So, never let them too moist, and never let them wilt in bloom. Experience and practice will guide you.

FWIW, I use exactly 1 gallon of water/drench per plant in 7 gallon pots.

That sounds right in line with what I do. I use around 4/5th of a gallon in my 5 gallons.

Good info on the voltage dropping if they wilt in flower. What's the best method if that happens? A heavy trans to get things going again?

OK I find this very interesting.

Is this talking about the same thing ? VOLTAGE DROP

Did a little research and found this article STATING

"
Soil physical properties, such as water content and temperature, influence the mobility of electrical charges in soils. The mobility of electrical charges increases with temperature by Boltzmann’s law (Eq. [16]). From our study of electrical resistivity vs. soil water content relationship in laboratory conditions the mobility of electrical charges exponentially increases with the water content (III.4). Other soil physical properties, such as soil structure, texture, and bulk density, alter the distribution of mobile electrical charges in soils. The relationship between electrical resistivity and soil bulk density is studied in a laboratory experiment and proven to obey the exponential Boltzmann’s law (III.3). Thus, the volume density of mobile electrical changes is related to many soil physical and chemical properties."

Thanks Doc. I've been trying to get 1/5 into my pots each time, but 1/7 makes more sense during bloom. It's good to hear that you're doing it that way.

BTW, that Paki is good weed. :cheesygrinsmiley: Danke. :Namaste:

Thanks guys!
I know dry as feathers in veg, but not in flower I’m good with the watering
Just wasn’t sure if we did anything different for the cats :passitleft: I’ll keep going the way I’m going
1 gallon to 7 gallons is my watering also, when in 10’s I do a gallon in a half
I keep them praying in flower :high-five:

I use 19 cups in 10 gal pots during flower, using a slow top down water over 45 minutes.
Most I can get in the 10 gal pot is approx 1 gal. Using 19 cups in results in 2 cups run off.
This is done every 7 days ?

Seems 1 gal in a 10 gal pot (1/10) is my max amount, maybe I should let them dry more ?

:ganjamon:
Sounds like I have been letting mine go too long between watering. I go 6-7 days in #10's and they take 2 gallons with no run off....a couple times recently I have seen some droop before I water....the pots don't feel light though.
This is great, we learn together how strains can vary, growing conditions etc, hell maybe it’s the 960 wall watts of QB’s I’m running
I even have both of my oscillating fans up top and put a stationary one down bottom near my intake to move lower air thinking that was why they drinking so fast
And your ladies look as though they are loving what your doing
Hell I know is brix misfits sure are :high-five:

Yup...Seedling, u are noticing heavier pots now...thats cuz the plants are getting some weight to them now. Thats why its very important to get to know , just how much water it takes early on to completely saturate our pots. cheers eh.

Preparing for my next grow. Will be growing 4 Fems in 7-10 gallon pots. Looking for recommendations for plastic pots. I have plenty of fabric pots that size but was wanting to try plastic this time. Ones I see look like they might have drainage issues. I have some 3 gallon square pots from hydro farm that I love but they don’t have the larger sizes...not that I can find anyway. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!!!

Most likely the cultivars for this grow will 4 of the following....haven’t quite made a final decision yet....

PuTang from Mass Medical
Pre 98 Bubba Kush from CSI Humboldt
T1000 (Old Family Purple) from CSI Humboldt
Definitely a Boptang from Kitchenhawk
Indiana Bubblegum from Mosca Seeds
Slurricane from In-house

Got some decisions to make. Lol

I use plain old nursery pots and can't see myself using anything else. They are cheap and work just fine. If I was gonna invest in better pots I would check out air pots or the bucket company...but they are pretty expensive for pots.

I can relate with the decision making.....I have been running around in circles trying to pick the strains for my next run for the last month. It would be nice to be able to grow more than 4 plants some day. Looks like you got some great choices there...

I Made my final decision yesterday. Yes, there is just rice in that bag....the two seeds that were in there went straight into water already. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I’ve got that same OGKB v2.1 cross as well. If I had more of them they would be on the list for sure. I’m afraid it will be a keeper and I won’t be able to keep it. Lol. So I tried to pick ones I have full packs of so that I can still run some more one day when I am able to keep cuts.

I’ll be running putang and pre 98 bubba from katsu in a few weeks along with 4 other haze strains :ganjamon: I’m using 7’s for the first time so I can get more flavors. I’m in he same boat MagooI want to pop full packs but need to be able to keep them, I’m going to take a few clones of each of these as I plan to keep all 6

I can't keep anything and probably won't be able to keep anything for a while. No extra space really to work with at this point. I don't plan on running the same strain twice for the foreseeable future. I have too many packs to try as is...it will already take me years to get through what I have and I can't stop buying packs!

I was too curious about the OGKB v2.1 cross.....I want to see what they got in them. I am taking one for the team I guess with that one, so you can see what kind of fire is in them soon enough.

Yup...this is my noobness showing. People always talk about taking cuts and finding keepers. The truth is I probably wouldn't know a keeper if I saw one at this point! They all seem so good!

I have a lot of the Bubba crosses in my collection and still looking to get more....

Are you gonna start a new journal for this grow?
