DobeWan's Perpetual Adventure 2.0: The Reboot

Stick with it. Not sure if that's as much lazy as clumsy lol. Either way, like your said, well get ya 4 flowering plants haha

Clumsy is definitely it. It just feels so unnecessary. It’s supposed to be tricky plant needs in flower that give me trouble. Not solo cups!

Interesting news this morning - my Royal Gorilla seedling rooted! I woke up to the cotyledons an inch above the coco with the seed shell still on. Put a couple of droplets of water onto it to help it along and left it alone otherwise.

My seedlings are a motley crew. Violator Kush and Amnesia x OG are fine. White Widow and one of my Liberty Haze are not growing properly - the first set of true leaves grew in fine, but the second and third sets aren’t growing properly - not sure what’s happening there, but I’ll leave them alone and hopefully they’ll recover. The second LH seedling, the one that wouldn’t germ initially, is just not growing - it’s like having the seed shell stuck on initially has stunted it.

So - VK and AxOG are growing nicely. WW and LH are growing but not without issues that I’m hoping it’ll work out. RG is late to the party but has made it.

Resilient plants, these!

Ase, I don’t really have a clear plan for veg. I’ve taken mine to 50ish days so far for a variety of reasons. I’m in no rush, and the slow start might extend my timing, but by the same token, I have no reason to hold these guys up so when they’re ready, I’ll flower them. I could see Violator Kush going in some time in early February at a minimum.

I had one a while back that I had problems with. I had to take my fingers and kinda pull it apart as it almost look like it was growing into itself. I was very gentle and after doing it 2-3 times over 3 days it just took off and turned out being one of my biggest yielder.

Yeah, I'm confident these ladies will bounce back. That Royal Gorilla in an hour had largely shed the seed shell and it took very little for me to help it off. It was a slow starter my first time around too, but was ready to impress in flower when I cut it down. I know it can get there again.

The White Widow is actually the bigger concern now that the RG is rooted, because her second set of true leaves has been stunted.

I think White Widow's issue, and the general issue in my tent is this - low RH. With Christmas and family here I've been busy, and the tent hasn't gotten any additional humidity. With the cold temps I'm running my furnace constantly and the house is super dry. My RH was only showing 10-20% in the tent. I added a humidifier this morning (which I ran on my first plants in veg way back when as well) and expect to get humidity in order in the next couple of days.

Everything is rooted, and I have time, so I have no doubt I'll get these ladies straightened away. I have no other environmental issues - temps sitting around 25c, lots of air flow, a good veg light, good water / feed, good medium - so I know once this is resolved we'll be off to the races.

Low RH would also maybe help explain why my Violator Kush - a strain from the desert - is thriving while others aren't necessarily. VK is used to a dry environment from start to finish, so this is nothing to it!

Looks like you have a good start on things, you will like that White Widow, will be interesting to see how long it flowers for you, CKS listed it as a 8 week flower but in reality it is a 12 week flower for me. It is also slow to develop the flowers but when she starts it gets white & frosty fast. It is a bushy plant so if you can keep the bud sites uncovered you will have a good yield and the rock hard nugs will make you smile when you give them a pinch!:goodjob:

I went and picked up some rolling papers this afternoon and in the shop were some violator kush fem seeds. I almost bought them based on what I have heard/seen lately. I have a fairly dry environment and it would be perfect.

Good news about the royal gorilla, cant wait to see what that looks like

Happy New Year everyone!

Quiet last few days in the journal for me as it was busy IRL. Had my folks end their stay, had my birthday, went to visit my brother's family for NYE. And now, I'm back to work tomorrow and it's all over for another year. It always makes me sad when this time ends. It'll be months before I get to see my extended family again, and although I handle being hunkered down for winter well, I do miss having them around.

Part of my absence was also waiting until the ladies were in better shape for a pic! I "de-blurpled" this pic so the colour looks a little washed out but hopefully OK.

Interesting times in the tent, but all's well that ends well, and I think all 6 of these ladies still have a shot at ending well when the time comes.

I arranged them according to health! Here's a little recap of where everyone is at this point. I'm going to call this 11V even though it's really 9V at best for the 2nd group of seedlings.

Back row is Violator Kush on the left and Amnesia x OG on the right.

Violator Kush has had 1 minor issue - I let her stretch a little too much, keeping the light backed off while the other seedlings were still trying to come up - so I had to support her stalk until it strengthens. But she's growing perfect otherwise!

Amnesia x OG has been a bit of a stunner given my other early issues. She was the last seed to go in, but is only slightly behind Violator Kush and might be ahead in growth / progress if not for VK's head start.

Middle row is Liberty Haze on the left (!) and White Widow on the right.

This is the second Liberty Haze seed I germed. She was germed at the same time as Amnesia x OG and was slower to get going than AxOG but is now only slightly behind. She was slow out of the gate but has started to grow fast, so I think those early days are behind her.

White Widow is an odd one. Her colouring is wrong, and after coming up at the same time as VK, she started to grow strangely in the middle area where the new growth was a mess. It feels like I confused her somehow to think she was flowering - maybe cold water? -
and she threw out odd growth. Well, that's sorting itself out - although it's still an odd clump of growth in the middle, it's gaining structure, and obviously supported by a root structure and the 2 wide fan leaves giving it what it needs. I'll keep an eye on this one - I know some of you guys have had great successes with the freaks! But I have a dozen other WW seeds so regardless of what happens, I will get a good White Widow going at some point.

Front row is Royal Gorilla on the left and Liberty Haze on the right.

Royal Gorilla came up and spread out its first set of leaves against my expectations after her trauma, but has been pretty quiet since. I expect with the stress I gave her, she's taking her time to get some root structure in place after spreading out the initial fans to get the benefit of the light. The cup is drying quickly, so she's clearly consuming some water - I was actually quite surprised to see her ready for a drink this morning since I watered all cups yesterday and thought she'd be last to have the dry look, not first. In any case, I feel like she'll be like White Widow, in that if I give her time, she'll get her growth back on track. So I'll give her time.

The second Liberty Haze is the one that took several days to pop and just seems destined to be a slow grower. But I'll be sticking with her too. Who knows, maybe like the White Widow she needs to find her feet too.

Altogether, we got off to a strange start, but I have a fast growing VK and AxOG, and it looks like I'll have fast growth finally starting from one LH and my WW. Maybe RG and the second LH will have to wait while I flower the other 4.

Thanks for following along everyone!

I'm pretty excited to grow it! Yours looked great and I know you've been happy with the results. In spite of its reputation I didn't get a chance to try it until last summer and I went through that little 5g bag in no time, and knew it was a strain for me. I've come to realize that the euphoric head effect is ideal for me because it counteracts the flashes of paranoia I can sometimes get on some high THC strains. Widow never gave me paranoia whatsoever, quite the opposite, same as Chocolope or LA Confidential. So it'll be a keeper for me!

My Widow is off to an odd start but it's on the comeback trail - will be interesting to see how it turns out in the next few weeks, but I think its worst is behind it. The root structure will prevent me from knocking it out of its cup again at least!

Thanks for the update Dobe.Come on WW I'm rooting for ya girl! Happy growing;)

Old time man, thanks for that description, I'm growing WW for the first time so I took some notes!

OTM's journal shows some of his experience growing his WW last summer - he did coco and RWDC in his grow and had success in both, although I can't remember which he had the WW in. His came out really frosty. He got his from Crop King. I bet you could find some other WW coco grows if you poke around, and I'm sure I'll learn a little as we go with this one.

Mine is starting strangely but coming together, so hopefully I'll have some useful tips eventually other than "don't knock it over and spill the entire cup as a seedling"!

Thanks Urb, me too. Not sure if you remember the one I was growing in the fall, but it was odd to start but then turned it on late in veg. I'll be happy if this one does the same, I just want to see her start spitting out nodes like normal at this point, then I'll know all she needs is time.

I know G2HM is eying VK as well. Effects wise it's pretty much perfect for me. Nice powerhouse physical high that'll settle my stomach. Supposed to stay low and bushy and the one I culled in the fall was set to produce. I think this one will get back there too with the great start she's had.

I'm excited for the dry environment in flower - I couldn't get it down to 40% in the summer, but in March when these ladies are flowering the house should still be dry thanks to the furnace running.

Sound like you had a great holiday Dobe, its always a good time with the food and family! Hope your dad brought his High Times with!:laughtwo:

This current run I let them grow without doing any training, they were all clones except Hayley so they kind of developed their own leaders, they had to re-veg so it was a little over 6 weeks before I flipped them and I think I would do that again from seed...seems like the extra couple weeks in veg helps them establish better.
I cut the Kush clones today/yesterday and was very happy with how they turned out...the Widow is still a couple weeks way but it is bulking up fast, much like the last run so if it appears slow compared to the others just give it time because it will probably end up being the last plant that is ready to harvest this run.:goodjob:

Dad didn’t bring his High Times, but he DID bring his appetite to try my stuff! He has stomach issues as well and was blown away by how well my oil worked. He also loved the tent, setup, and previous results. He and my brother were checking out the Kushy Kush and Chocolope and remarking how good both looked! It’s the first time I’ve been able to show my results to someone else so it’s pretty exciting.

That’s awesome that you have another harvest going. My Widow is looking really funky but no doubt she’s past her initial stress and I’m hoping she’ll straighten herself out. She has at least 3 nodes at this point - maybe she’ll have another when I check at lights on. I’ll likely let her get however many she needs so that I can top the way I like. Usually that’s be 5-6 nodes, cleaning out 1, 2, 5, and 6. I’ll let her get 2 nodes I like, then grow a couple on top of those, then top and clean up the bottom.
