DobeWan's First Grow! LA Confidential & 24K Gold - LED - 3x3 - Coco

Thank you as usual wise ones! :thumb:

Buds didn't appear to have really changed over the last 24 hours so I'll likely go ahead and chop tomorrow night, but I'll wait and see.

LA2's sugar leaves are getting crisped up from my advanced deficiency issue. She was the most susceptible to it by far - she's become pretty ugly in the last couple of weeks. This shouldn't be an issue for much other than looks, right, since I want to get the sugar leaves trimmed anyway to get nicely manicured buds?

I pulled a bunch of dead LA2 leaves off - the top really got hit hard by the end - and the buds look fine. They're small, and I bet they'd have frosted more with a less bumpy ride. They'll be nice when I do a better job in round 2!

I'll post up some pics of everything tonight in fact - final pre-chop LA photos, and the rest of the progress in both tents.

Massive photo update before the LA Confidentials come down! I'll take some photos of the process but probably won't update the remaining plants for a few days.

First off, the veg tent.

Chocolope has been in for 60 days and is about ready to come out. Unfortunately she'll have to wait another week until I pull the 24Ks. Fortunately that should mean nice mature development on the colas.

I'm happy initially with the results of the manifold. I was tempted to leave the interior colas to fill out the middle, but thought I'd be better off training the bottom two colas in the top-down pic further towards the bottom of the pic, to better use the space.

Chocolope was a dream in veg. She grew great initial structure, and bounced back strongly from the manifold topping / pruning. I broke a branch and had to keep using the ties to ensure it didn't fall completely behind. I'm just trying to keep them even now.

I have high hopes for the Chocolope!

Here's a shot of the reveg 24Ks. I took most of the freaky old flower growth off of the 3 better developed plants.
I kept some leaves on the smaller plant, as she's really just getting the new tops going.

First off in the flower tent, Kushy Kush, which is at 6F.

I took a couple of shots to show her structure. She's looking promising so far!

LA Confidential 2 (round 2) is at 6F as well. She's a massive bush, and looks far better positioned to produce in flower than LA2 did in round 1. It'll be interesting to see how differently she'll develop given my ongoing education and experience.

LA Confidential 1 is looking pretty ripe now, she did better than I expected at points of the grow. She has taken on a fantastic smell, a musky mix of spice and wood with a hint of lemon.

flower-20170817-LA1-001-750x1000.jpg

Her top cola ended up nice and fat. That should be nice bud.

The mini canopy underneath has something like the golf balls PW mentioned. They look like theyll be tight, round nugs.

LA Confidential 2 looks fried. From my failed attempt at training her main stem (I learned SO much to prep for manifolding Chocolope though), to accidentally topping her before flower, to the hard hit from my mistakes, she's had a tough time.

flower-20170817-LA2-001-750x1000.jpg

I gave her a haircut in anticipation of tomorrow's chop. What I took was basically just dead anyway.

I thought this bud was a good representation of what might have been. Check out the sugar leaf to the left of the bud and the leaves directly above and below it - that deep purple would look great on a healthy plant. And the purple on the calyxes is very nice. If I can get LA2 to take off in round 2, the colouring I could get will make it look fantastic.

flower-20170817-LA2-003-1000x750.jpg

There's not a ton of bud there, and it doesn't have the lemon background smell LA1 has, but I'm hoping I'll still get decent bud in spite of my mistakes.

24K Gold 1 has really impressed in the last couple of weeks. The swelling of her buds has been noticeably nicer than those of 24K2. I wonder if she'll ultimately surpass 24K2 in yield and quality? Can't wait to find out. The 24Ks are tantalizing given how much more nicely they have developed.

24K Gold 2 has 1 beaten in structure, but will that be enough as 1 starts to form fatter colas? The colouring on 24K2 is better though - check out those red sugar leaves. Next weekend still feels so far away, but I can't wait to get these babies down too.

The end approaches! Thanks again everyone for following along!

I see sticky gloves and fingers in the future Dobe, don't forget to throw those gloves in a ziploc and freeze them to get the fine stuff that breaks off!...your going to need a few pairs as you go!:goodjob:

I bought a box of them, hopefully that'll be enough! I was wondering about the best way to get everything off of the gloves, and that makes sense.

The plan for tonight: give the rec room a quick clean up, lay out my tools, throw something good on TV or stereo in the background, fire up something tasty, and chop down both LA1 and LA2! Get them into paper bags and into the fridge for low and slow.

As for trim, is my best bet to try to dry and cure the trim as well? Or am I better off freezing it fresh? I haven't really decided what I'll do with it yet - either make hash using the ice water / bag method, or make infused oil. Leaning towards oil, and making hash from the 24K Gold trim. I think the LA Confidential would make great hash but I'll have far less trim, and the hash is less useful to me than oil. I could throw flower in too of course to whatever I make.

I have been drying and curing my trim for hash, i just want the best flavor so we'll see how that goes. The LA's have that classic viney OG look to them. You'll be glad you did the low and slow.

Yeah, I figured drying it would mean the best flavour, and probably potency since I wouldn't risk knocking dust off in the freezer.

It'd be nice to make hash since it bet the flavour will be pretty classic hash flavour, but we'll see.

I definitely notice some OG influence now with the smells, that peppery / woody smell, musky I think I said before. Can't wait to try it out.

That looks ideal Suntana. Definitely need to figure out a solution for myself. I spend too much time watering. Of course a chunk of that time is spent staring longingly!

1 down, 3 to go!

flower-20170818-LA2-003-1000x750.jpg

I finished up early today and beat everyone home mid-afternoon to see if I could get a plant done before everyone else got home. I chopped LA2, since she was the plant for which I had lower expectations. Figured I'd get her out of the way first so that any disappointment came with the initial chop and was long gone by the time I finish 4!

flower-20170818-LA2-001-750x1000.jpg

She was the least dank smelling of the 4, but that muskiness is in full swing now. The house stinks!

flower-20170818-LA2-002-1000x750.jpg

I used 2 pairs of gloves, but probably could have gotten through it with 1 if I had more patience. Both the gloves and scissors got annoying to use thanks to resin pretty quickly. Those little leaf clippings stuck to everything.

flower-20170818-LA2-004-1000x750.jpg

I took my time, and it still ended up taking me 2.5-3 hours.

flower-20170818-LA2-005-1000x750.jpg

I bagged up the flower in 3 papers bags and put them in the fridge for the low & slow. Bagged the trim and put it in as well. I ended up with about 27g in trim (low considering how much I had to trash), 1.75g of popcorn I kept aside to quick dry and sample, and I measured 78.9G of wet weight, meaning I'm probably somewhere around 16g dry - not what I was hoping for originally, but I knew the results from LA2 would come in lower than expectations for quite some time. It's hard to be too disappointed, especially considering what I harvested looks nice, and that I expect to pull another LA2 in 8 weeks that will make me forget all about the mistakes I made with this one. I think LA1 will be better anyway, and then the 24Ks will blow both away.

I'm really excited to have harvested my first plant! And LA1 comes down in a few hours!

Thanks Mike! If it's not too late when I'm done I'll aim to get the LA1 numbers posted as well. I'm going to guess 105g wet for LA1, but it'd be nice to go higher!
