DK'S New Grow 2020

Update!

So I won't be updating randomly like I used to and instead more like a specific day
Still need to work out a schedule to this.
Anyways here is the first one!

So here I have the OG Kush and the Critical jack.

I Am thoroughly excited for these especially the OG Kush which is rated at 24% THC.

Picking out the candidates! So I went with the darkest color of each.

I have been playing with germination methods like the water in the cup/glass and the paper towel inside a sandwich ziploc bag. I liked the ziploc bag but then I started to play with rockwool...

Basically I just drop a seed in rockwool and cut the rockwool to size to fit a shot glass. (Not in that order). So I find after 3 or 4 days it germinates perfectly. This was all done on a window sill with no preparation done for warm dark environment.

Ahh so this was done yesterday and today will be day 2. Hopefully by tomorrow we have our first signs of life. I have watched many videos of DWC and have seen that they explode with growth so this will be exciting.

I have mixed my nutes called Feed For Weed! They recommended grow mix at 10g per 10 L of water and the same with calcium nitrate. No I know to be carfule with the strength so I have a 3 qaurt mix but this will only be available once the plants root well for now there is loads of moisture.

Does anyone have experience with those de-humidfier tubs with those tiny balls in. I am thinking of using that later on in the grow of needed. My batteries died in my hygrometer so for now I'm going to wing it cause it's in veg.

:yummy::rollit:

A huge thanks to everyone stopping by! :circle-of-love:

Very nice post :) I use peat pellets my self and they work great (100 % success for now). Keep posting you are good at it :)

Thank you my good sir. I am using rockwool cause it is for the DWC. I fully agree peat pucks are amazing and work so well!

Still page one? I'll watch this one with you DK.
Cheers
Lerugged!!! Always happy to see you brother! Thank you for tagging along.!

I'll hang around for this one! Critical Jack is a banger, for sure.

OK so now come questions

  1. At 28.5 degrees Celsius. How do I lower temperatures in the grow room? The box fan is on lvl1 and the same with the exhaust. (I added a makeshift ducting for an inlet as those passive ones let in light)
  2. What is the general height of the grow light?
  3. Will I need circulation on top?
  4. Will temptretures be difficult to maintain in winter? Last time I had to add incandescent bulbs for heat in a small box.

Subbed!

1. Temps in the grow room will either be controlled by pulling cooler or warmer air from outside the tent, or with a heater/air conditioner. If the available air outside the tent isn't cooler then you can't cool the tent with just intake fans.
2. Height of the light is often listed by the manufacturer, but if they don't you can either get a lux meter, have faith that lux meter apps for smartphones are close to accurate (most aren't), or start around 32" and lower it until you see unhappy leaves! I find it hard to believe that that LED pulls anything close to 1000w from the wall given its size.
3. If that's where the heat is then you want to pull the top air out, so the exhaust fan goes up high. In winter, warmer air is on top so you would pull that down toward the plants to maintain temps at the soil.
4. That depends on how much heat the light puts out. I use my lights to heat the shed in the winter.

Those are designed for closed areas like closets rather than a place you are constantly pulling fresh air though, so they may not last long. A 5lb bag of white rice might work just as well, and you can dry it in the oven and reuse it :).

Thank you Mr shed!

They draw I don't think is 1000w and all you said makes perfect sense. Thank you for the bag of rice tip. I would never have thought of that. Again you have bestowed wisdom upon me

My DWC is now finally all done and tops are plugged with rockwool and hydrton. Already have one seed germinated and should see something by end of tomorrow maybe. OG KUSH won the race to germinate first.

As for the height I have them about 1m away from the seedlings. The manufacturer says 1m away. Oh well I will do what you said. Based upon the response I gave to smeegs with that pic
How is the autos looking?

Here is some snaps I took today.

There is life there I just forgot to circle it haha.

Both have life and should pop out tomorrow by the looks of it. Right on time with 4 days! Woohoo!

YAY..........for the stitches brother im really excited to see you raising these young misfits cause the flowers are very nice. Rice will do the trick nicely as mr.Shed has mentioned you can also use those linen pads
you slip between damp clothing from checkers or Spar but rice is less expensive...
My very first strain I bought was OGK from dinafem too but neither my brother nor I had much prior knowledge of growing so the flowers were less than spectacular and it was winter outdoors so you can imagine...haha, but I do have an OGK that that I popped this past winter which I revegged and she's doing well outside, she got rather bushy and I need to get into the centre and tidy up a bit but when you haven't seen the centre or an idea where it should be.....haha

Have a blessed day.

Hey brother!

Yeah these stitches are actually growing very fast hey. These seem to be better than the first one I planted. So OGK gets that bushy huh? Wow I'm in for it this time around.

My OG Kush got confused and the tap root was out on top haha I had to take her out and put it back I'm gently. Fuzzy taproot though
The critical does look to be doing things right just slower.

Running at 49% Rh and 25.4°c at 7:30 Am...

Again a huge thanks for sending me these!

@InTheShed I am filling those pots as gradually as you say.

I am not seeing any stretch as of yet so maybe the lights are at an OK distance...

Damn OGK taproot is doing funny things hey... The critical has stuck its head out and now needs to open. Thanks for always helping out!
