I thought I found the originals you mentioned, NOT. Just bought some on Amzon , they have (barely tolerable) "little sharp plastic barbs" I'll let you know if I find the "oldschool" type!
 
Being a pipe smoker I buy the Dills pipe cleaners for daily cleaning and the bristle type to really ream my

pipes out (no pun

intended). The Dills come in a bright yellow packet and can usually be purchased anywhere cigarettes are

purchased. In my state

you have to ask for them at the tobacco register. The bristle type, which you definitely don't wan,t come in a

dull red and white packet, some retailers carry both and some carry only one type.

A lot of state laws made retailers move their smoking paraphernalia behind the counter so as to keep those dangerous pipe cleaners out

of the hands of the under 18 crowd

That's probably why you don't see them anymore :tokin:
