Dennise - No Longer The Newest Of Newbies - Not Growing In MG - Perpetual

Dennise, People are always amazed at what pet owners will pay for their companions. We take better care of them sometimes than ourselves. My wife fell one time and landed on Mikie our long hair cat. It broke his hip and the vet went in and cut the head of the bone off, stuffed tendons and muscle into the socket and told us it would heal and act like the regular hip. You can't tell he ever was hurt and still jumps from high places and runs faster than the others. It cost $3,500.00 for the surgery and I had to take out a loan. No regrets at all.
Now there are people who abuse animals and I would have no qualms doing to them the same as they did to the animal. Old testament, eye for an eye.
Great news so far about Paco, best wishes going forward. Dan

Wow... I leave for a day... and all this!
Poor thing. I just can't imagine.
I'm not one to get my animals stoned or anything, if I thought for one moment I could use something to help them, I sure would in an instant.

I can't click "like" to that

Me too

Take good care D. You have some serious issues afoot and I sure like how maturely and realistically you're displaying.
Sending good vibes from the swamp.

I still have no word on Paco so I'm going with no news is good news...:) I do have a few pics of Olivia the Memorial girl... I took some pics while she was in the tent and when I loaded them I could see funny looking stuff on the leaves so I went in and pulled heer out and brought her in the den where there is natural light and I guess it was the LEDs cause I couldn't see anything yucky on them in here... however she was out of the tent and in my hands so I couldn't help myself and I pinched 2 of her leaves off... She popped soil 16 days ago and was potted up into her final home 4 days ago.... she is still under the 96x3w and 4x3w reflectors.... Once the little ones in that tent get bigger I may take those 2 out and put in a Mars II.. I haven't made up my mind yet...:skeptical: there's a couple of pics of the Baby Tut and the other little ones in the tents too.....:circle-of-love:

Gosh I miss having a cat.

It goes without saying but I will say it anyway, your girls are :yahoo:

And I will leave you with a dedication to Tut:

Now, when I die,
Now don't think I'm a nut,
(King Tut)
Don't want no fancy funeral,
Just one like ole king Tut.
(King Tut)
He coulda won a Grammy,
(King Tut)
Buried in his Jammies,
(King Tut)
Born in Arizona, moved to Babylonia,
He was born in Arizona, got a condo made of stone-a,
(King Tut)

I told you it would be OK D!!!!:circle-of-love::cheertwo::peace:

Okay Dennise, PJ and crew.. I still haven't gotten around to organizing those likes that I've given so far into notes. That'll happen this week.

There are a couple things that confuse me atm

When you say:
1 5.0 cu ft bale Klasmann Deilmann K-1 with 15 % perlite by volume
1 3.5 cu ft bale of Sunshine #4 (yellow label)

The compressed bales break down into roughly double the volume so there was ~ 17 cubic feet of base material.

3.0 cu ft Fox Farms Ocean Forest
3.0 cu ft Chunky Perlite
2.5 cu ft Roots premium worm castings
5.0 Gallons Yum-Yum Mix
2.0 qts Crab Meal
4 # Cascade Minerals Basalt
2.5 # Glacial Rock Powder
2.5 # Soft Rock Phosphate
1.0 # Oyster Shell Four
2 cups granulated mixed mycos.

It cost us $210 buy the ingredients to mix the yard of soil. There are 201 gallons in a cubic yard. We also have plenty of rock dust, rock phosphate, etc to make another batch left over from what we purchased last fall. The leftovers will make mixing the next batch less expensive. Having friends to mix dirt with is great if you can do it because it spreads out the cost of buying amendments that are only available in quantities in excess of what the recipe requires.

I can't seem to figure out what the '#' means for 4 # Cascade Minerals, 2.5 # Glacial Rock Powder, and so on..

I also want to know what you think about this:

I'd like to have 6 girls, outside. With the proportions you used for your cubic yard (201 gallons) of soil, do you think I'd be alright if I were to just divide your proportions by 3? I'm pretty sure I wouldn't run out if I only used 3G and 8G pots. I'm not opposed to moving the sizes up, if anyone suggests so.

I know PJ recommended a two-soil system, going from seedling soil to veg/flower soil. I'm trying to sort out the numbers.. What would you recommend size-wise for the seedling & veg/flower pots? I was initially thinking of using a separate pot for each cycle, and doing plastic solo-cups (or similar sized plastic pots) for the seedling mix, ~3G smart pots for veg, and 8G smart pots for flower. Do you think I should use smaller/bigger pots at all?
If I were to have a two-soil system, what sizes do you think would work more in my favor? The Plastic cup to 8G pot, or 3G pot to 8G pot?

PJ, can you send me a link of where to find some 'Klasmann-Deilmann K-1' to purchase? Or can you tell me if it's one of these? The only thing I could find was 'Klassmann-Deilmann TS-1'.

Besides all of that, I'd like to hear your thoughts on Smart Pots or fabric pots.

Appreciate the help SO MUCH.
:thanks:

I can't help you too much but in the US the hashtag symbol (#) stands for pounds. So 4# would be 4 pounds. Dan

To really confuse you, the hash tag can also mean (number). Typically if it is after the number it is for pounds and if before the number it represents (number). So 4# equals 4 pounds and #4 equals number 4. That should twist your head, sorry.

Thanks for giving it a shot, Lobo. As you predicted, I'm still confused :p

I didn't know that the pound sign (DERP) represented an actual pound. I'm not exactly sure why we'd switch from volume to weight, unless being accurate with these mineral powders is just that critical.

That's amazing news Fifi! Having our pecker stop working is any male's worst nightmare, no matter what species. :circle-of-love:
You've had a rough time in the last year with your family; meaning Fella & pets so I'm glad this didn't turn out so bad. Furthermore, it's another example of the benefits of our beloved plant. :thanks:

Hi Lady D. Driving by just to check out my peoples a 420. Glad Fifi is better and hope everthing else is good with you. I know you are keeping it green. Love to you and the whole 420 community.:thumb:
