Dennise - No Longer The Newest Of Newbies - Not Growing In MG - Perpetual

Ok Ok Ok... I'm so excited and I just can't hide it...:allgood: I'm watering the Jack Herer and Blue Mataro today with just purified water then the next watering will be with Sledgehammer then we are going 12/12 under my new 144x5w reflector and 2 Mars II 400's in my Gorilla Lite 4' x 4' tent...:yahoo: I will post up some pics of the 2 babies in a bit.... After the heavy defoliation I did a few days ago they look amazing and are filling in very nicely.... I have kept them nice and short and I love the way they are growing.... They are both in Fox Farms mostly Happy Frog but there was a little of the Ocean Forest in the tote but no where near 50%.... They have been given Fox Farm nutes at 1/4 strength and are now up to about 2/3 strength and I will probably not go much higher unless they look like they are lacking in something.... I have also been supplementing cal/mag at 1 tsp per gallon of purified water... I will also post up some pics of the newest baby... the auto NLxBB... She is now under the 96x3w reflector and the 48x3w reflector with only the veg switch on still and is starting her second set of true leaves.... I love my Top Led/Mars-Hydro's and I'm a real person...:yahoo:....:circle-of-love:

Ohh yeah! Flowering time incoming! Let the mouth watering begin!

Just my 2 cents, if you are worried about the stretch, keep lights as close as you can to the canopy. In my previous grow, I kept my Metal Halide for 1 week or so into the Flowering Photoperiod. I read that if you change the lighting schedule to 12/12 (after dark period), but not using pure flowering light spectrum right away, it partiallyy reduces stretching.

I noticed that LEDs nowadays still don't have that perfect light penetration that HID have, and you would do better by spreading your ladies in width rather than height. You can still achieve this by now, preventing a massive stretch when you change the lights. This way you won't have as much "underneath the bush" under developed nugs that would be cause by lack of light on those places.

I don't know if keeping the vegging LED spectrum works the same way as keeping the MH for a week instead of the HPS.
Take some time to do some research on this depending on your interest.

Can't wait to see some bud action! Congratulations

:Namaste:

:passitleft: High Groovey and no I'm not worried about the stretch at all... I am getting ready to post up some pics and I think you will see why.... I train my girls rather heavily and they are very low... I am just waiting on the very middle to finish filling in from the heavy defoliation I did about a week ago... I have never grown under anything but LEDs so don't have any idea about HID lighting and when I flip my girls I don't do a dark period... I cut the timer back an hour a day until I am at 12/12... I also am not worried about how close my girls are to the LED... I am more concerned if they are far enough away to get the full spectrum from the LED but thanks for all the heads up.....:circle-of-love:

Ok... Here we go... The Jack Herer and the Blue Mataro are finishing up veg and will be thrown in the tent for flower in about a week... I think they look amazing this time around and the bud sites are many...:yahoo: They are both in 7 gallon pots and are not very tall at all and have filled their pots so I can't wait to see how they start to bud...:high-five:... and I really can't wait to see how this 144x5w reflector is going to perform....:circle-of-love:

Guys I have a question please... When I make the PJ organic soil mix I use Red Bud Farms compost and worm castings... it is absolutely amazing stuff... kind of pricey but not having to use any additional nutes makes it worth it.... I have a question about the compost and worm castings..... I have gotten a small bag of each this year that will be plenty to mix up a batch but when I looked in the barn I realized I had a bunch of both left from last year when I made up the mix.... my question is will it still be as good as it was after being left in the barn all winter... or will it have gone flat in some way... I will mix up another batch with it if you guys think it will still be good and I actually have a pH pen now so I don't mind using the Promix again... I only had my pH go off once and that was on the girls that are in veg now and when I potted them up from the seedling soil I put them in Fox Farms cause I still didn't have a pH pen..... but that was also soil I had mixed up last year so wondering if the mixed soil would have changed any over the winter being stored in the barn... Thanks for any help.....:circle-of-love:

Denise, the stored soil should be fine. If you want to you can also add to the old soil with the appropriate ratios of new stuff. I took a picture of the plants I have going now. The are 9 weeks old and in five gallon pots of soil that was mixed before you mixed yours by about four months (I think) This soil was mixed a year ago and has about 30% by volume of dirt that was mixed two years ago - when I needed more soil I just mixed new stuff in with the old.

Dude I gotta tell ya... I have finished 3 girls in your soil... Crazy Miss Hyde, Blue Moster Holk and Blue Dream... Love em'... absolutely love em' and it was the easiest stuff I have ever even kinda thought about using once I got it mixed up... Got fella at home... at least for a while so it shouldn't be such a task to get er' done this time.....:circle-of-love:

Rock Phosphate only goes into the flowers soil, not the veg, as an additional source of phosphorous. In a full batch it has about 2 cups of rock phosphate.

That's cool that you find it easy and you had good results. I'm going to move the current plants into 20 gallons of flower soil on or near solstice. These are going to be big plants :cheesygrinsmiley:

lookin great! subbed! :goodjob:

Hello PJ. I messed around & had a nearly perfect grow using the version of Organic Soil Mix you devised for me with the stuff I had on hand. Thanxx a million!

I took some pics of the babies today to show how much they have filled in since their haircuts.... I am going to attempt to post before and after pics... we'll see how that turns out... I think they show without a doubt that defoliation is a good thing...:) Strip em' naked as a Jaybird....:loopy:....:circle-of-love: Babies then.....
