Thanks King. I am working on it with Sony support right now. What a pain but it has a warranty and they will take it in if it can't be trouble shot over the phone. Just a inconvenience but they will fix it....:thanks:

working on this stupid computer sure is a pain and the crop is keeping me from throwing it out the window... Oops customer service rep says I have to send it in so they are sending a box and shipping label so that so that. I'm stuck with the tablet for next few weeks!!!! Shoot poot darn!!!!!

I checked that out King in case it was easier than sending it back to Sony but the one that is messed up is a window operating system on a Sony VAIO laptop. I will certainly try that app on my tablet though. It is a droid. thanks for the heads up!!...:adore:
 
I hear ya. Started with 3 and dropped my favorite one and busted the hard drive. I replaced that and reprogrammed it then the electric went out and I gave up on that one and started using my big laptop again ( this Sony ) it has always been the best one it is just big but now that I have been using it again I like it being big. So now I have a death screen most likely from a virus. Tech says it looks like someone was trying to hack and get my info. How he knows this I have no idea. I'm not a guru on computers anymore but was at one time but guess they have come a long way since I knew what I was doing..... Any how should be fixed and back home within 2 weeks or so they say. Can't afford to buy another so sure hope this works. I really don't like having to use this tablet for everyday!!!
 
that stinks. usually when my computer is messing up I do a system restore. if it's real bad you need to move your files that you want to keep onto a usb drive and then reformat the computer. I used to do it on my dads computers when they gave us windows discs but now idk how to do it. your screen doesn't even show? oh yeah I also use the windows defender thing, or whatever it's called. the free one on windows.
 
They don't even send back up restore discs with laptops anymore. They give you ONE chance to create your own back up disc using the laptop, if you lose that....you play holy heck trying to do a complete reformat.
Bad viruses have a way of returning even when you have system restore set to save system settings on a daily basis. They have become extremely smart on where to hide files just in case you discover it with a virus detection.
One of the best and absolutely free programs out there to detect trojans/viruses/spyware/tracking cookies etc. is called SuperAntispyware. SUPERAntiSpyware | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!
I have been using this for years to fix others' computers and it is running in the background on my laptop at all times.
Virus programs, however, are only as good as your updates. You HAVE to perform update checks with them or the newer generated viruses will not be known to the program. There are new viruses/trojans/spyware programs created by these idiots every day!
Also, I keep an external hard drive that I save desktop and important files to regularly. Especially photos. That way if the computer just gives out and you can't access anything you at least have your important stuff tucked away safely on the external drive. These can be picked up very cheap these days and some are powered through USB, so no separate power cord needed.
Just some hints Dennise, maybe they help in the future. ;-)
I did computer repair for a few years, and finally decided I needed sleep more than racking my brain on a laptop that someone let their kids download everything on the planet to without fear of viruses. LOL

Oh I have the defender thing and Norton but it does appear I was hacked and somehow my ID has been compromised. Have canceled all my CC's and contacted the bank and have gone in and changed all passwords. They were nice enough to load a Trojan virus when they left my computer. All activity under my ss# has now been flagged. Can't wait to try and get any of my money or credit now. What a pain but it is taken care of now for the most part. Just have to wait for everything to get repaired and CC's reissued. Azz wipes!
Trying the red head I cut on Sat. And she is helping through this process immensely... B-)

I have everything backed up to my USB drive and cloud. Apparently they went straight for my banking and credit info. I have worked on computers for a long time and have even retained most of that knowledge even after being hurt. I run Norton anti virus and windows defender and they are both set to auto update every 24 hours. Ran my company computers for years with sensitive info and was never hacked so dumb azz should have gone after me when there was still something to get! This is nothing more than a time consuming pain in the azz. I just hope Sony can fix her as I really can't afford to buy another right now and I hate this tablet! Well I don't hate it but it is only good for travel or watching TV! Any who. It is what it is. :-\

I caught that FBI virus in Sept. & had to swipe my whole PC clean. I use a cheap Compaq Presario on the free windows system. After reloading most of my stuff I switch from AVG to the free version of Advanced System Care 7 & haven't had a problem since. I stopped piggybacking for a couple of months but I couldn't see giving clear $50 a month when there are so many open networks I can jump on from home. I changed all my passwords. Being hacked might have been the best thing that happened to me as my PC is much faster since switching to Advanced System Care 7 & reloading everything. It has updates nearly every week & sometimes up to 2 a week.

I don't do any banking or anything that connects to my SS# online. I just don't trust the creativity of crooks.

Sorry to hear about that Dennise ! I just dropped in to say hello before we plunge into another polar vortex up here. Winter is getting real old and fast ! :peace:
 
I'm reading about computer woes while waiting for my seed order that was shipped on the 13th. I guess it's only been 6 legal business days since then if I include President's Day (Federal holiday in the States no mail or banks).

I want my seeds, I want my seeds, I want my seeds!!!
