Hello all ! This will be my, I guess you could say first grow.

Some basic info on my plant.

1. Fox farms Ocean forest soil
2. (2) 13 watt CFL's
3. 1.1 QT pot.
4. water every 5-6 days, or when completely dry.
5. 10 days old AS OF 9/11/12:love:

So this is deffany. She hasn't given me any trouble so far(knock on wood) so that's good :) she looks happy, and seems to be growing right on time if not better. Tell me what you think and please don't hold back on the advice.:Namaste:

1. Just making sure your bulbs are 6400 or 6500k spectrum (most bulbs that you find in the store are NOT)

2. since you are using 13 watt cfl you can literally have them like a half an inch from the plant. Even as small as she is. A good way to judge is put your hand by the light. If you can have your hand there and it does not feel hot or semi hot then its ok for the plant. With a 13 watt cfl you could almost touch the bulb before you felt much heat. However to be safe (incase you get huge growth spurts) I would keep them around 2 inches away.

A little b-1, superthrive, seaweed. All or any would help with rooting, which will help with growth. Superthrive isnt cheap, but seaweed and b-1 can be.

Also if you do put the bulbs extra close for faster growth make sure to keep an eye on them just to look for signs of heat stress, like wilting.

Hello to you and your cutie :)

Do you plan to do cfl the whole way? Also what strain? I believe I paid $6 for superthrive and its lasted forever with shared use, definitely worth it. My only advice is read read read, experiment and ask questions. Ive messed around a bit but am going to attempt my first flower soon. Started my first journal here yesterday too :)

Little bit of bad new, my so called partner in growing decided to get greedy, and not let me use any of the nutes we got.
So i will be buying my own nutes. So, what do you think I will need that works great and is at a decent price :)

Swear? Dang the Westside Greenery just took a hit :/ But Let's get the basics, Liquid K, Superthrive, Pure blend? I was already thinking about getting some Superthrive.

Journal update Pictures later tonight.

I am now using 1 23 watt cfl on deffany.

And yes, westblunts Unfortunately we will have to buy a whole new variety of nutes.
I got paid as you know and will be getting paid again this week. so we will do our shopping then.

Put up some pictures of your grow area/setup :thumb:

this week. so we will do our shopping then.
forsure perfect, BluDy is eating more ravagely now (; When I checked today, her pot felt halfway empty and I only watered like 3 days ago :morenutes::morenutes::morenutes::morenutes::morenutes: Also we should research and further our knowledge of organic food too, A friend & I were talking about it today:420:

How close do you think I should have this bright white, 23 watt cfl to my plant ? It gives off more heat then the 13 watt. it's also a bigger bulb. And do you think this bulb will be better for her?

This is now the Cali love thread.

But yeah If I was in your shoes for just one plant I would get some espoma plant mix and some seaweed or azomite for the minerals.

We should be able to find an espoma that has a good NPK ratios for the entire grow. Espoma is a quality organic company that has affordable stuff. Give me a minute and I will give you an exact dry mix that will work for veg and flower.

If you want assurance that this espoma dry mix will work, I personally use their 5-3-3 "Plant-Tone" mix and a quick google search should show you some grows that ONLY used espoma dry nutes and they get pretty killer bud for really cheap.

BRB with an exact nute.

Ok WSG here is the deal.

Basically any Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes and probably a lot of other stores carry SOME Espoma products. If I was in your shoes I would simply find the one that had an NPK ratio closest to something like 2 6 5, or 3 5 5.

In other words find one that is lower nitrogen, higher Phosphorus, and Potasium somewhat equal to the Phosphorus.

I would rather not say "get this exact one" because many stores have different ones.

If you got Holly-Tone from espoma, some seaweed/kelp extract, and some molasses. You could really make some kick ass buds and it would cost ya like 20 bucks for everything and youd have enough for many plants.

Alright, Here are the update photos I promised.
Also have pictures of a different plant, im not really including her in this one but oh well :)

She seems to be doing pretty well. :circle-of-love:

Keep in mind when plants are that small their root structure is not very big. So until its bigger you do not want the first few inches of soil to go completely dry, because that is probably as deep as the roots go. Later as the plant is a bit bigger you can let the top soil get nice and dry (assuming under the first few inches still has a little water) before watering again.

Personally on seedlings like that or new clones I just use a spray bottle and dampen the soil slightly 1-3 times a day as needed. Then every say 4-7 days it will get a good hard soaking. Once the plant is like 2-4 weeks old it should look more like a mini plant with multiple leaves. and by that time its good to just water normally whenever the soils fairly dry.

I took your advice and will be spraying the top soil about 2 times daily.

One question I have would be Do I ride out the burns ? or Should I clip off the first true leaves ( really the only leaves that got burns)

Will do.

I have set up a new grow space for now.
I now have a fan blowing on the bulb
I took away the desk lamp, as I noticed thats basically what made it fry up ( there was no circulation going on the bulb or plant )
