Deep Water Culture

I think the easiest solution is too make more sub-forums! I think aeroponics, ebb&flow, etc., should all have there own forums. I also think combining the journals is a good idea. Too be honest when I first came over with Roseman and the others, I didn't even know there was a journal section. So I just started mine in the Deep Water Culture forum. I also enjoy doing aeroponics and would love a similiar sub-forum for its discussion and research power. Eventually enough people would assemble and they might call themselves the Airheads! Who cares, we are all here to learn, have fun, and promote awareness of this beautiful plant!!

Grow-method sub-forums are fine. Although I'd stick Deep Water Culture with the rest of the DWC type subjects as a variant. But I'd stick the journals in the grow journals forums.

There have also been a few "journals in spirit if not in name" that I've come across in the review, construction, etc. forums - and I'd stick them where they belong as well.

But that's just me. I'm already in the Cannabis Club. And in the 420Magazine section of that. More clubs than that were destined to be a headache and I wonder how many of those 1000 staff-hours were spent with people shaking (or holding) their heads and muttering, "I told you it was a bad idea from the start."

I figure that's enough as far as clubs go. But if you're going to have a bunch of clubs (be kind of wrong to just have a certain limited number if you're going to (continue to?) allow any), I can think of a few hundred that would be nice.

To be honest, and meaning no disrespect, I was assuming that the Deep Water Culture forum, club, stickers, whatever there is were created as a nod to a sponsor (SH) that was coming on board. But I confess that I'm probably wrong because I've just been ignoring the whole issue on the basis that it wasn't affecting me. And the thought that just passed through my mind that the same strategy didn't much help the Jews is most likely purely coincidental - you all know that I'm not wired correctly, lol

I am happy to announce that we all now agree that all grow journals should be in Journals in Progress, so that is where they will be moved over the next few days. :)

One step at a time, one day at a time, my ultimate goal is to keep all of you here, with a revelation of a manifestation, to make it happen smooth and peacefully. :)

Everyone please keep thinking positive and we will get this all fully worked out soon.

We are ALL family here regardless, just need some analysis and fine tuning until we reach perfection.

We are truly grateful for everyone's patience, understanding and support.

Sending you lots of love, respect and positive energy through the universe.

You are... The captain of this ship. You put your heart and soul into this site. You own it - or maybe it owns you, lol. You created it and you pay for it.

You can do what you wish to do, for you hold title.

And yet you put up with all of our bellyaching - I mean, listen to our helpful (and "helpful") suggestions; and to you, site owner, our words have importance. (Even though it must be stressful at times to do so.)

For that - and for everything else - you have my humble appreciation.

And my REPs.

420, I know you spent much time and deliberation over this. I respect all decisions you make. I love this site and never plan to leave. Thankyou for being you. :peace:

Just 1 technical question, will my subscription links and signature links still work or will I need to re-subscribe to the moved journals and change any moved links in my sig?

Thanks brother!

Subscriptions will remain in tact, signature links will probably forward, but you may want to edit them for long term use.

Thanks for your continued support of our mission to create Cannabis awareness to the world.

I have a bubblponics system from stealth. I have a 3.5 by 3.5 by 6.7 homebox tent on its way and I want to be able to do this correctly this time, my 3 other crops were not that great. I would like to know what kind of ventillation is key to growing and what the optimal temp inside should be. my grow box right now is close to 90 but i also live in az and its hot here. my house stays at 78 most of the time, and i heard heat is not a good thing. any usefull tips for me would be great and i give you props for taking the time to help me

Hey, Bro, this isn't THE Deep Water Culture thread, it is a thread ABOUT the Deep Water Culture.
You need to visit here:

I am happy to announce that we all now agree that all grow journals should be in Journals in Progress, so that is where they will be moved over the next few days. :)

Great stuff - everyone. Wow - this thread was just another example of the positive vibes from both Admin and Members that makes this site unique.

And let me say I'm very excited to know that I won't miss any more great journals and convo with the Deep Water Culture. The whole idea of "clubs" within a site like this is new to me. And as a firm believer in the individual and citizen's rights, I can whole heartedly agree that there's nothing inherently wrong with a club. And I am very glad to see that this convo went in the right direction of inclusion, rather than greater separation.

I, personally would hate to have different forums for every grow method. I like the organization of Journals in one place, then questions about equipment or methods or anything else goes in the category it should be in.

Final piece of input. I have built some very large and complex websites. If there is anything I can do to help with a little coding - please don't hesitate to ask. For example, some 400, 401, 402, 404 redirects at the back end might be a transparent way to solve some site navigation, and would keep all the links search engine compliant. In other words, when you move a journal - it creates a new page as far as Google is concerned. Then Google compares that against other pages on the web, and if it finds duplicates, it will give a higher score to the original, even though the later is the more current. By using redirects, they intercept the page headers, and will re-write the link so that the search engine knows they are the same page and should be considered as such. From the user's standpoint, as well as the site software, the link is the same as the original. This is 100% legal and is the suggested method by Google, Yahoo, etc... A redirect will also catch any outside pointers or bookmarks ensuring that trackbacks and other outside reference to 420 will remain intact.

EDIT: Also you can do all at once. Redirects allow the use of logic in programming, so with one line of code you could automatically re-direct all the journals, without actually needing to move any active ones.

2nd Edit: I didn't realize it would make those links automatically, but since it did... if you click on one you'll get a 404 error and the old 420 site. There should DEFINITELY be a redirect to catch all that kind of stuff and point it automatically to the new site.

Thanks again! This really is a unique site and is really as much a social experiment as a website! And a successful one!
:thanks:

This is the only site I belong to that doesn't actually BLOCK Google's mitts, lol. But the others have nothing to do (for the most part) with cannabis and in this instance I can see where allowing site-searches (and general searches that produce results from this site) would be a good thing. It can let people know that this site exists when they didn't know before, and it can also level the playing field in that (in general searches) it would display results from our site against results from lesser - I mean... other (lol) - sites so that the searcher can draw his/her own conclusions as to which site provides the better value.

+REPs (if I'm able at this time - otherwise I'll throw you a dozen credits).

Thanks, bro - very generous. Yeah, I like that this site is crawled by Googlebot. I think its one more layer of legitimacy that should be there. We are not doing anything that we need to hide from the world. Quite the contrary - this site is such a positive example of so many things - we should be trying to make sure the world can watch.

Reps back at cha!

Hey... I know from past experience that with many web forums (not sure about the type of s/w (etc.) that this site is based on, specifically) that when you move a thread you have the option of leaving a redirect in the original forum that expires in 24 hours, 7 days, whatever you set - or even indefinitely. In such cases, would Google handle the redirects transparently or would it choke?

I can only hope you guys are as supportive when I put up a suggestion as I have been with you. Papa, Tortured, others. :peace:

I need some advice. Now that I am checking more journals, is there an easy way to get back to where I was in the current journals forum after I post in a journal? I keep hitting the current journals link and it takes me back to the top of the current journals page again so I have to scroll down and try and find where I left off at.
