Deege420 Outdoor Garden

re: Deege420 Outdoor Garden

Man that was fast! Seeds showed up today! I got II diavalo Automatic, Bubblicous automatic, Super Automatic Sativa and the two FREE seeds i got were a critical automatic!(so excited for this one!) and a white widow!!!!

I also still have in my inventory a, blue mistic auto, and a northern lights auto.

Im gonna be germinating II diavolo automatic, automatic bubblicous and critical. Then when those are done the other 3 autos will be next.

Oyea they are all fem seeds btw :Namaste:

Also have a question. Since I had some trouble with size on these current autos. Im thinking I need to change something. I used Fox Farm Happy Frog in about 7 gallon pots. Im thinking maybe add some perlite to my FFHF? or maybe use Fox Farm Ocean Forest? Im not sure, can some help me out on this. Im thinking the 7 gallon pot was a bit too big, but then again I have vertigo in a 5 gallon and isn't much bigger. So any ideas on what changes I should make in order to get some Bigger autos?

re: Deege420 Outdoor Garden

Yes I would recommend a smaller container (3-5 gallons), and amending with perlite or hydroton. I like to transplant as little as possible but I feel like the medium stays moist too long depriving the roots of oxygen in such a large container because the root ball isn't established enough to drink up the water fast enough. Amending with perlite will really increase your drainage, try 25% in a few and 50% in a few others and see how it works for you.

Also I'm not too familiar with Fox farms but I see people complaining all the time about one of the potting soils being too hot for young plants, not sure if it is the ocean forest or happy frog. If you start your seedlings in it or transplant into it well they are really young it could stunt them.

Okay so Ill def go smaller.... Should I start the autos in a smaller pot and do just ONE transplant? I know especially with autos we shouldn't transplant but seems like it may actually be beneficial, gonna try some in the 25% and 50% perlite, Maybe switch up the soil? at least for the autos?... Any ideas on good soil for autos that may be at my local hydro store?

Stoned I REALLY appreciate the quick feedback! +reps!!! Im gonna start germing these seeds, and hopefully I can come up with a good list of stuff to get before I go to the hydro store tmmrw.

re: Deege420 Outdoor Garden

thanks for the msg deege, seems my face isnt finished with me yet though, bank holiday here due to the queens jubily so no docs or dentist till wed, so im suffering till then, got strong pain killers off my mom though so should help,

these autos are crazy mate, i didnt expect them to get so big, id say at least go with the 3gallon pot and see what happens, at least if they fill these pots then the next autos you sprout can go in bigger pots, people say dont prune or lst them, well i pruned and i lst my first auto and now its a monster and needs a bigger pot as its pretty much root bound im sure so thats tomorrows job, the other auto i got isnt growing as quick yet, but my first didnt start growing till it went into flower and done lst for 48 hours, now its 1ft high and still growing, and is only just showing white hairs and not proper buds so its got some more to grow yet,

but i would go with the 3gallon, thats what im transplanting these into now, i pruned any leaves that was blocking light as i found autos seem to grow very tight and the nodes are very tight and the leaves at the node above can easily cover all the growth at the node below it, so i just removed the big fan leaves and then these lower nodes went crazy and started growing all over the place, now my auto has got 5 main stems, the lower stems went crazy and caught up with the top stems and now their all growing at the same pace but spreading out wider as well, not sure how big its going to get but its bigger than the plants i vegd for 7 weeks, so it could get pretty big real quick, but my 1st auto is getting on 9 weeks old now and should have been finished a while back, the 2nd is on track from what i can tell, both grown under 20-4 from day 1,

re: Deege420 Outdoor Garden

they always told me the bigger the pot the bigger the plant...look at the outside grow-pots ...if the root ball can't get rid of the water in the pot...add perlite to better drainage...i got soil with no nutes...that way you can controi the feed..on perlite ...you can't add too much growers grow in straight perlite...what i do is take the perlite..put in a pillow-case...tie the end and put it in wash-machine on gentle cycle for about 5 min...thats to get that dust out you don't want to breathe....mix perlite with medium in a 5 gai bucket with as many drain holes you can punch in the bottom...pour the water and note how fast it comes out bottom of pail...too slow...add perlite...i use Foxfarm...big bloom--grow big--and tigerbloom...soil i use is at all grow stores..in the black bags..i got the 3.8 large bale...it has a lot of perlite in it...all that said..you seem to be doing great...i would keep doingit...:thumb::goodjob:

re: Deege420 Outdoor Garden

I think transplanting could be beneficial! Most people say it causes stress but with my personal experience my plants seem to love being transplanted!

The guy Oldtimer who created the original bonsai mom thread noted a 25% increase in yield when transplanting versus starting in the final container. You want it to drain well because the roots will go searching for water when the medium starts to dry out. If you have a high porosity medium then you will have dry periods more frequently = roots searching for water more often.

This is why I also water in a circular pattern around the outside of the pots. I think of it like an animal, if you make it easy on them and water right at the root zone, it will get lazy and start to rely on you rather then go out and search on its own!

It all depends on how much you would like to spend! You can get really good organic soil w/lots of amendments like Vermisoil for $20/ 1.5CF.

A few other options are

Coco, a compressed 2.5CF block of pure coco is $11, you just have to hydrate it. Cut it with 25 or 50% perlite. A benefit of coco is it provides lots of oxygen to the rootzone even when wet so it is hard to overwater.

A sterile medium with no nutrients like Miwa said. Promix HP and Sunshine #4 are both good. About $40-50 for 3.8CF and does have quite a bit of perlite. I'm not sure about sunshine but promix comes with myco fungi amended, but if you do go with the promix make sure you get the HP not the BX

re: Deege420 Outdoor Garden

purple got cut 11 says early :/ found traces of a lil mold starting and didn't want it to spread. Also I figured it would be good to check out what was going on down under with the roots. Like I figured the root ball was tiny.. But anyway she's pulled.... weighs a WHOPPING 25.3 wet lol.... HOPEFULLY a qtr? when dry? well see...
