Cool new cloning idea, Donkey!
I thought I'd wander through that interdimensional portal in DD's garden and do a little guest post.
And you are more than welcome good sir. Not least because whenever the room starts to shimmer like that and the Doctor Who theme music strikes up it is always a
bit of a worry just who or what is going to step through. We’re all glad it was you.
As some of you know, I was close to not ever being able to grow again.
The Romans probably used donkey sweat as a cure for something. I had buckets of the stuff. A missed marketing opportunity, that’s all.
Actually since donkeys weren’t invented until more recently the ancient Romans would have been using ass sweat. Now that I think of it that’s not a marketing campaign I’m prepared to spearhead.
(good to see you Sy
)
DD currently grows the "Chem 91" (which is a 91 BX, not the clone-only mother), Bubba's Sis (Chem Sis x Bubba Kush) and Sour Bubba (Sour Diesel x Bubba Kush, the former itself a Chem 91 offspring/hybrid).
Bubba’s Sis just to show it’s true:
She’s been putting on weight this last week. Harvest Friday. She’ll be coming on just as the Sour Bubba runs out. I don’t have one of her currently in flower, but have been smoking some just now just to keep things relevant.
It is
good new and different to say the least to have a selection of useful varieties. Thanks again.
It really accentuates this very consistent look inherited from the mother: impossibly pale flowers, with impossibly deep green, shiny leaves amongst them. It's a signature of the 91.
Your shiny leaves look amazing. Waxy, almost. Is that a high brix thing? A high electrical potential in the soil making the leaves shimmer like an inter dimensional portal? That was my first thought. My second thought was that I should have sprayed mine before taking the picture to give her that wet look.
In other words, the 91 seems to reliably pass down look, structure and potency. It is no longer surprising to me that the various Chem BX/crosses etc. have made it to the top of DD's list.
Me and
@Dohc007 will be pheno hunting S1s from the Chem and from the Sour Bubba for years to come.
I'm starting to understand better what people mean by "gassy". It has that effect of petrol, paint thinner etc. where the smell greets you "up front" but also hits you "in the back" of your olfactory senses. So I think I'm winning in the genetic lottery so far.
Good description.
P.S. I have an OG post to share at some point, too, to complement DD's SKOG and OG adventures!
Looking forward to that.
I hope to add the SSH OG to the list in the not too distant.
I've been so busy lately that I haven't kept up on recent posts. Please forgive me Great Donkey
I have looked at the air rooting method before but never tried it.
Really looking forward to your account of the process.
I respect that a man needs to practice his apologies so they ring true when they’re needed and as a friend I’m happy to help. I won’t give you performance notes here but that was a reasonably good one. Unnecessary though. You’re under the hammer mate don’t apologise.
That Chem D is looking mighty fine, Donkey D.
And what an interesting idea for cloning. It looks crazy enough to work!
Crazy enough to work. I like it. That’s what I’m thinking too.
The Chem D btw is the other one. The Chemdog’91, the “sister” Chem Sis (katsu bluebird has a cut), and the Chem D are the clone-onlies that are still running from the original cohort. From
memory (I’ll get in to trouble with Sy for making stuff up) there were seven.
(As an aside the fact that none of these bagseeds were male suggests to me an accidental S1 pollination from nanners.)
Hey DD, just a question or two if I may.
With your new clone when do you expect to seperate her from the existing main connection?
Hey DV8
Good question. I’ll be opening just the top of the pod to check the moisture level and give it a spritz if needed today or tomorrow. I will be flipping her on Friday. I’m really hoping roots will have started by then.
And will it be a straight up cut or will you use some method to cut the transpiration from below the rooting zone?
Whether or not a little root ball forms I anticipate burying the still weeping wound of a cut stem somewhere (¼”?) below the root zone. I’m kind of making this up as I go along. Were l a better/more organised gardener I might dip the end in tar or something, IDK. There probably is a treatment method for this.
Lastly which cloning solution did you use? looks like Clonex, but better to ask.
It’s a local knock-off/repackaging of the clonex gel. Half the price too. In a hardware chain near you across the ditch there. There’s a red one for hard wood cuttings like trees and shrubs, and the purple one we use for soft stems.
This is probably the most exciting experiment Ive seen here on 420, I really want to see how it turns out, it seems borderline genius, using straightforward principles.
I’m excited that you’re excited!
I have been called borderline [many other things]. Thanks for your kind words.
Hey look
More photos
Cured and stored for nine months I turned the last of it into rosin yesterday.
The day count, as usual, is from flipping the light cycle to 12/12.
Cheers everyone
Stay safe.
