Well we are waiting on my Blue Dream to be flipped in another week or so. I decided to post up a few more pictures of my last grow. Afghan Kush and White Widow. Give you guys something to look at for now.

Here are four photos from various stages of flowering.

Sorry this Blue Dream grow hasn't been the most exciting so far. Vegging is the boring part!. Hopefully after the flip next week the action will begin!

I have had no more drooping issues under this LED. My temps which were around 80, now sit at 75. The air coming off the light in veg is cool, and the heat is more of a convection heat. Where the entire tent heats up, instead of under the light. Which seems to have lowered and regulated not only the temps, but the humidity. The humidity is sitting at 50 percent, which is perfect for Veg. The power draw is 300W lower in veg as well, and I have not seen the plants slow down. I am extremely pleased with the light thus far. Once I got the mounting issues sorted out, my only complaint is I wish the cord that came with it was 5 feet longer lol.

I tucked what I could, but the plants are growing very bushy. Which is strange as the HSO Blue Dream is a 50 X 50 mix Sativa and Indica. Seems these are way more on the Indica side. I cut off some lower fan leaves twice the size of my hand, and larger than my head.

The plants are already stinking, which is very rare, considering they are just past four weeks in veg. Normally my plants don't begin to stink badly until at least a week or two into Flower. I walked around my house with one of the fan leaves to toss it out, and by the time I was done my entire house stunk.

I am still feeding them 7G Maxibloom, 3 ML Silica blast and 4ML Calmag Plus. I am going to up Silica Blast to 5ML once they reach flower. I may also add some Liquid KoolBloom to the mix after the first couple weeks.

I am going to let them grow straight up for another week before tucking again, and hopefully switch to flower after that. My PPM's on a 0.5 scale are between 950 and 1000 right now. My PH is always set at 5.7 to 5.8 and I calibrate my meter EVERY SINGLE feeding.

I am going to go four days in between feeding, hoping to dry out the medium a bit and force the roots to stretch down into the res. I do not think they hit the res yet, and if it did, just a bit. I am slightly nervous about how much these will explode in flower, but with the LED light being so cool, i am not too worried if the tent gets very full.

SEED

Sept 18 - Planted germinated seeds, put in humidome, and coco/perlite mix solo cup with 100 PPM of Calmag plus @ 5.8 PH

VEGETATIVE STAGE

Week 1
(Day 1) Sept 19 - all sprouted (within 24 hours), BD 1 started slow but caught up by end of day, BD-S thinnest stem thus far, BD 2 first sprout.
(Day 2) Sept 20 - First true leaves started. BD1 and 2 on spame pace, a bit of stretch. BD3 main stem still thin. Fed again with 100 PPM calmag+ @ 5.8 PH, humidome off. Plants lifted about 12" from light to combat stretch, placed ontop of humidome.
(Day 3) Sept 21 - True leaves grew larger, BD3 still small and bent. Still stretching.
(Day 4) Sept 22 - Added more coco to each container. Made sure stems were straight. Fed at 100 PPM of Calmag + at a PH of 5.7 until significant runoff. Rotated BD 1 and BD 3. True leaves going larger. Temp was 79F during day, 74F during night.
(Day 5) Sept 23 - Nothing done, true leaves growing larger.
(Day 6) Sept 24 - 15 PPM of Silica blast, 125 PPM of Calmag +, PH 5.7. Fed until runoff.
(Day 7) Sept 25 - Nothing

Week 2
(Day 8) Sept 26 - 150 PPM combined Calmag and Silica Blast. 1 full ML of Calmag Plus. Everything looks healthy. BD3 still small.
(Day 9) Sept 27 - 600 PPM - 1ML Silica Blast, 2 ML Calmag, 1/4 TSP Maxibloom PH 5.78
(Day 10) Sept 28 - Nothing - fan off, light raised. Hopefully stops leaves from "tacoing"

Here is a bit of an update. Still letting my plants grow up, tucking when I can. They are growing in size quite quickly. The photos above are from the 18th of October, these photos are from the 21st. You can see quite the difference right away.

When thing I would recommend is if anyone is doing a SCROG from seed, keep the holes of the SCROG 2" - 2.5". Mine are over 3" and it's just too large. I have to wait for the plants branches to grow far to much to be able to properly tuck them. Live and learn I guess.

I am going to let them grow all this week. Then do one large tuck and lollipopping Saturday. Once they have recovered I will flip to 12/12 and continue to tuck during the first week of stretch. Hopefully it fills out the entire SCROG, if not I will know the genetics for next round, where things are going to be expanded quite a bit.

Quick update.

Fed the plants the usual 7g Maxibloom, 3ML Silica Blast, 4ML Calmag Plus (all per gallon). This time I added about 1ML Floralicious Plus per gallon, and will continue to do this for the next two weeks. General Hydroponics was nice enough to send me a number of their products to try out on my last grow. I have them sitting around (Florablend, Rapidroot, Floralicious PLus, Koolbloom, Floraklean, etc..) so decided to use one. Koolbloom will be used in flora of course, and FloraKlean will be used when I begin flushing to remove salt build ups.

If anyone is following the grow, you do not need any of the additives. Honestly, all you need is the 7g per gallon of Maxibloom. I add Calmagplus for the little boost of N, and to make sure I have no issues with Cal-mag in coco. Silica Blast is just added to help my plants become more stress resistant, and to help build stronger stems. It is not mandatory.

I have also seen many questions on this site and others where people are confused on how to properly set up a drain to waste system so removing the waste is simple. A lot of people use shop-vac's, electronic pumps and various other gadgets to remove runoff water.

What I have done is pretty simple, here are a couple photos.

* Hand Siphon (This one can be bought on amazon for $2.30, home depot, or most other stores)
* two 2X4's and two 2 X 1's
* Wood glue, Nails or whatever you want to use to attach the wood together.
* Half gallon jug from anywhere, can use up to a 5 gallon res.
* Propagation tray

it is pretty straight forward. You make the platform so your buckets or pots rest on top. I use two pieces of 2X1's spaced apart so if I was to use pots with holes, the hole in the middle can drain down without hitting wood. If you only plan on running hempy, you don't need to space them out. I run Hempy, and Coco in pots so I did it like that.

I mix my nutrients in a 5 gallon bucket from Home depot. I then fill up a half gallon jug and feed each plant a half gallon at a time. One end of the siphon goes into the jug, the other I move around and feed the entire medium. You simply pump the red thing on the siphon, and suction does the rest.

Once the res is filled in the hempy, or the medium soaked in Coco, it simply drains down into a propagation tray. Once the plants are fed, I just shut the tent, come back in an hour and empty the tray.

If you use 2X4's for the base, a standard black propagation tray as you see in the photos fits perfectly underneath.

You can also buy better siphons. Some look like they have an airpump for bike tires attached, you give it a coupld pumps and it keeps pressure and suction without you being forced to pump the siphon yourself. These are also at homedepot under the "arnold" name. You could also use a small submersible pump if you are feeding on a larger scale, but I like to use electric only when I have to.

I did some more defoliation and tucking yesterday. I also crushed the stems to promote scar tissue growth and thicken them up. It is a bit more extreme than super cropping, but doesn't change the shape of the plant.

I made the decision to flip them into flower at the end of this coming week. Giving them time to recover and stop producing the hormone that is triggered when damage is done to the plant. Sunday or Monday depending on how things go will be the date they flip. I made the decision for a couple reasons.

I don't know how these genetics play out in flower. I don't know how much they stretch, how much stress they can take, or how well they will respond to my new LED.

Crushing the stems, defoliation, SCORG and a heavy nutrient feeding scheduled; I don't know if these two plants will hermie or not. Since they are both from seed, this is something that I really need to take into account. I can't spend 8 weeks vegging out two hermies.

I am still confident I will pull 9-10oz at the very least from these two plants. With lots of trim/stems for edibles.

They have been under 24 hours of light so far. Today I will be bringing them down to 18/6 then when I flip they will go to 11/13 (as recommended by DJ short, first time for me)

What advantage do you get by lowering the lighting schedule lower than 12/12?? Obviously it works, I saw the results mighty fine results actually. I'm in beginning of 3rd week of 12/12 - I'll give the 11/13 in a few weeks and see if that helps the buds get bigger. I'm worried about stretch right now hopefully at 4 wks that will be finished for me.

The buds only grow and produce thc when the lights are off. So by shortening the light cycle you're giving the plant more time to make it's goodness

I got a blue dream going as well under ;ed 150x3. Plants love the light. Blue dream is less than 1 month old, and probably over 20 inches. I just topped it.

As Sphnx said, it should help the production of trichomes/thc. DJ short and a few others breeders/growers I respect also say it makes the "pheno-typical" characteristics of the plant more evident. By that they mean if it has some blue or purple in it, it will show it a lot more. If it smells of blueberry, or pine, or lemon, it will be much more intense.

It may seem like only an extra hour a night, but in the flowering life of a plant, it adds up to a significant amount of extra dark time.

I got a blue dream going as well under led 150x3. Plants love the light. Blue dream is less than 1 month old, and probably over 20 inches. I just topped it.

Sounds awesome. So far I am liking the LED, but flowering will be the main test for me. I would love to see some pictures of your plant. I checked your journal but it is of other strains (which turned out awesome btw).

The official date of the flip will be Oct 31, this coming Friday. Giving them 6 weeks in veg from seed. They have been topped only once. This week and last week I did more tucking and removing more fan leaves.

I have filled out the last row and the middle of the scrog. The first two rows are still fairly empty, although I have one thick stem over there now, which will produce three colas. Hopefully with the stretch I will be able to fill it out.

I feel if I topped a lot more and gave them an 8 week veg period like most people, I would have EASILY filled out the SCROG. I do expect it to triple in height and size from what I read, if that is the case, the SCROG will end up jam packed as it is.

For the last few feedings them have been getting the following 7G Maxibloom, 3.5 ML Silica Blast, 4ML Calmag plus, 1 ML Floralicious Plus (per gallon).

The first feeding after they flip I will be adding Koolbloom, and possible removing Floralicious Plus. I will remove everything below the screen on Thursday.

Here are some photos, and I will have one more set of photos on Friday prior to the flip. When the action begins happening in flower, I will be updating the journal three times a week, and I will post an updated feeding chart once a week.

I am pretty confidant I will pull 10OZ, but I don't know what the LED is capable of. I may pick up another after this, so I will get a bit more light than a 600w HID. Which I would easily pull a pound with.
