Hard to explain with no visual. But the newest set of leaves when they first come in have 3 shoots the leaves and the node. If you just put a little pressure down and to the side on the node it will pop off leaving the leaves. You have to delicately separate them before you begin. Theory being that the two new nodes have the leaves to feed off and it causes the least amount of stress to create at least two from one.
Not my theory came from someone way smarter with way more grows. If you have ten minutes watch nvclosetmedgrower on YouTube. In his playlists is his how to grow series. I think it is video 2 where he goes through this procedure.
What I can say is that I tried it multiple times throughout my Grow with excellent results. It takes some getting used to and had to end up topping some anyway bc if fucked up a leaf in the process. Once you get the feel fir it super easy. When I topped some and microtopped others at the same time. There was no comparison. No slow down at all come back 10 hours later two new nodes. No stress at all it seems and stems are just as strong.
 
I lost my confidence.. Lol i just not SURE what im doing exactly.. I did a little defoliating and let her be.. It looks like i FITed grooty...bahahahah "fuck i topped".. I suck at life..lol we will see and l.a. structure is lanky and reachy, im getting male vibes not sure why..

I know right .. Think about how hard it is to BE me..hahaha just kidding. i just love her so much i don't to stunt her negatively in any way. But she is getting big. I need to train her but curiosity itself is making me want to let her go bananas. That ,and i keep procrastinating. Im gonna micro top her after i take pics... i think..lol

I know right.. Just been so focused on under/inner growth, other plants sorta got neglected a little. Lol she has been my favorite ...other than basic l.s.t. like 3 times a day i have only FIMed her and defoiliated twice..she is only a month old ,working on week 5. So your thinking no microtoping? Should i make her stretch a little and supercrop her, just skip the microtoping? Both?
