Been a while since these hands have been dirty, and this blue blood's eager to get growing! So if your passing by stop in and say G'day, pull up a chair, a cold stubbie and a sausage sanga and tell me what I'm doing wrong and how I can do it better! Updates will be at least weekly and all constructive criticism is welcomed! Looking forward to seeing the communities progress and everyone's gardens with all of our favourite herb, so cheers!

What's in the shed;

Strain: 6 x Feminised, Strawberry Jones Cookies by Connoisseur Genetics (Strawberry Cough x Casey Jones x Girl Scout Cookies) 8-9wk flowering.
Pots: 6 x 28L rocket/air pots on a run to waste system fed by a 200L reservoir by feed rings.
Media: Perlite/Coco (approximately 30/70)
Tent: 5 x 9 Gorilla grow tent.
Lighting: 2 x 650S Led bar lights from OpticLed (adjustable spectrum).
Air/extraction: apart from passive intake there is a 150mm Max fan pro pulling fresh air from out side in. Exhausted by a 1500can-lite carbon filter on a 200mm Max fan pro, onto a silencer and insulated 200mm ducting. 2-3 x 150mm Breezin oscillating clip fans and 2 x Vornado fans for air floor movement.
CO2: 2 x exhale bags.
Nutrients: Mostly BAC line with some PSI (mono silica) GP Cal/mag, Ryzo and a few other bits and pieces during flowering.

03/04
8 Beans were placed into a shot glass for 24 hrs.

04/04
Yesterday all beens had split and were placed on a plate with some paper towel to let the tap root grow a little more.

05/05
Today showing great vigor they were placed into little solo cups and watered in with straight tap water that has been left out for 24hr to de-chlorinate (our tap water pretty much has 0 EC and Approximate PH of 7).

They have been placed in a Seahawk clone tent running a dual 55w fluorescent fixture on a 18/6 light schedule and a 120mm fan blowing air in.

Hopefully they break surface tomorrow. :peace:

I love fresh beans. :thumb:

Not to shabby at all, eight for eight and all looking very similar and as strong as each other. Not sure if the eight will be used in the 5 x 9 more likely just the six in 28L air pots.

These femenised beans have been above ground for five days. Yesterday they were fed the first dose of nutrients (a/b/c and Ryzo) at an EC of 0.2 and a PH of 5.5. Tomorrow they will be fed an EC of 0.4 and every second day until needing daily fertigating. I have been using Blue labs truncheon for EC/PPM readings and think it is an amazing instrument so far.

Today marks approximately 19 days since the surface was broken and everyone looks like happy little Vegemites, but they have definitely out grown their homes.
20210430_220709.jpg

So today they were up potted into 1 litre pots before being up-potted into the 28L rocket pots in a week or so. Great White Mycorrhrizae has been used to help reduce transplant shock.

They are still being fed an EC of 0.4 and a PH of 5.5 and probably increase EC of 0.6. I'm not sure If this is correct but from what I have read a lower PH of 5.5 during vege can help with better nitrogen absorption?
New shoes.

Having only really focussed on LST, me thinks topping would be interesting to try. Looking at three main sets being topped once more into twelve heads. Maybe after a couple days of settling in the removal of the bottom set and maybe some topping.

Thanks mate, will give it a try and see how it works out. Does pinching and cutting have the same affect?
Hope you are well my friend.
Clean razor is best. But if your hands are clean pinching it off is fine.

Putting in the overtime at work has made it really hard to post any updates. But I have taken a few snaps along the way. A little late but as they say, better late than never...

15/05 Day 31 of vege
12 days after settling into their new homes and looking a little under fed, it was time to up pot into their final 28L rocket pots.

Roots definitely showing they need to be up-potted. Using great white aswell to help with the transplant shock.

20210515_211635.jpg

They were still being fed an EC0.6 PH5.6 but could of used alot higher EC.

20/05 Day 36 of vege
Originally this was only going to be a six plant grow but after a change in plans all eight will be flowered out, pending all are female.

After a couple days and a stronger feed of an EC1.0, PH5.6 Everyone is looking alot healthier and greener.

As it is starting to get quite cold in the land down under and only having 2 x 650w LED'S which give off very little heat, two reflectors with 400W MH globes have been added on either side of the tent to give a little added heat. The LED's are only at 40%.
20210520_025007.jpg

Six out of eight have started showing signs of sex with pistils just starting to show.

24/05 Day 40 of vege
It seems that the extra heat from the MH globes has made a noticeable difference in growth. With the humidity sitting around 50% a humidifier has been added and set to 65-70% RH. 15mins before lights on a foliar spray with some BAC pro active, neem oil and spidermite spray was used for preventative IPM measures.
20210523_223409.jpg
20210523_225716.jpg

Today six out of eight were also topped above the sixth set of nodes and the other two above the seventh set as they are more squat.
20210523_225826.jpg
20210523_225912.jpg

Usually try to leave as much stem above the nodes as possible to help support the top nodes as they grow and minimise splitting later on.

Beautiful work. Love it.
Just a little tip. Those air pots usually have a row without holes. It goes on top so you don't have to silicone the holes.

Thanks for dropping by Bill. lol, yes that's right they usually do but these don't, probably what I get for stinging out on some cheap ones. I have some 18L ones that have the rows without the holes for a resovoir on top. For the life of me, I could not find some 28L/7gal ones with the resovoir ring? I have just purchased two more and have not filled the holes in to see if it makes any or much of a difference. Have you used these before?

The ones I get always have a solid row. Must be a cheaper batch like you said.
I have 1 to 7 gallon air pots I just love them. They work great, bigger yield than bags consistently .
Great idea with the silicone. :thumb:
