Critique my new grow room build, please

Alright, three more questions (for now)

What is the best grow medium to use?

What are the best nutrients to use?

What strain is best for a 6' 5" room and two gallon buckets? (taking cost into the equation for everything)

thanks again bros

I'll start with #3 and answer them backwards

3. You should give us a little more information to help you out on this one. Do you prefer Sativa's, which is more of a body high and still leaves you clear minded and functional? Or you prefer an Indica type couch-lock that helps with insomnia & appetite? Judging from your GR dimensions, you might be able to get away with a Sativa Dominant if you do a short VEG. However Sativa's take a lot longer to flower and stretch more. An Indica you're looking at 7-10 weeks usually, a Sativa can be anywhere from 10-18 weeks or even longer depending on genetics.

I personally like Indica's and would recommend you start out with a strain leaning Indica Dominant, and maybe a 50/50 hybrid. Sativa's require more work like lots of Vertical room, and some can't take nutrients too well.

2. Blue Planet Nutrients! There are MANY journals on this site where you can see BPN in action. I purchased it for three reasons
- Sponsor of 420MAG
- Very Inexpensive, bought the whole organic line for the price I would of paid for one or two products elsewhere
- The owner Corey knows his stuff very well, and is an active member on this site. I seem helping out growers in their journals all the time.

This part kind of deals with question 1 & 2

Before you choose your medium, you need to decide what kind of nutrients you are going to use. I don't mean what brand, I mean are you going to go Organic or use Hydroponic synthetic nutrients?

If this is your first grow I would recommend starting with synthetics. All you have to do is mix the proper amount of nutrients, ph your solution, and your good to go.

Organics has a lot more too it. First you need to build a healthy living soil by amending it with lots of products, then you need to colonize your soil with microherds and feed them ACT (Aerated compost Teas). Getting started on organics takes more money, more time, and more work but there ARE some benefits. One downside is Organic Nutrients smell, and you must go FULLY organic. If you use non-organic products it can kill your microherd

3. Since you have two gallon buckets I would start with a hempy grow. To do this you would Drill a 7/16" hole about 2" up from the bottom of the bucket. When you water the excess will run out the hole on the side, leaving a 2" reservoir at the bottom. Your medium will wick up the water from the reservoir feeding your plant for 1-4 days depending on root mass. If you want to learn more about hempy type in Hempy Bucket method on google. Many growers are starting to use hempy's now, especially with 2L bottles for a SOG.

For a medium, If I was doing hempy I would consider Coco, and maybe amending it with some perlite or hydroton. You can buy large dehydrated Coco blocks for cheap, and they hydrate into a lot of coco. I like coco for several reasons
- Cheap
- Hard to overwater
- Provides ample amount of oxygen to the root zone even after watering
- Coco is great for wicking, which is why it is great for Hempy's.

To make things as simple as possible I'd say go soil (look into, happy frog, light warrior, and Fox Farms Ocean Forrest). Soil is most forgiving of mistakes. The1st easy brand of nutes to use that comes to mind are Dyna Grow nutes. No mixing involved, just dillute, PH, and feed. Saw MoslowJJ have an excellent greenhouse grow with those nutes. I agree with Stoned about the species to grow, definitely indica or indica dominate hybrid. Thy stay shorter, flower shorter, and take higher concentrations of nutes from my experience. I'm a fan of purple kush and did very well with it when I first started. It's fairly easy. I had 3' trees, with thick stems and solid purple buds my 1st or 2nd time (not sure which time exactly) growing it. I didn't have a PH or TDS meter and used tap water. Need were great! Anyhow, that's my 2 cents. I dunno what type of access to clones u have but start with clones if u can.
