Cripychakra

High gang! I'm back again with a new grow. This run will be from seeds I made by pollinating a Kalichakra bud with an unknown male. I call it Crippychakra since the male came from a good bagseed and we call good bud down here crippy. I'm not sure if this strain will be a keeper, since the male did auto flower under 18 hours of light. I started the seeds in paper towels, and they germinated in two days. I was out of my soilless mix, but had an unopened bag of FFOF, so that's what the seedlings are in now. I am watering with plain, unPHed water.

This journal is starting with a disaster! My sickly mother plants are gone. The other night I discovered why they were so sick. RED SPIDER MITES!! So, I disposed of the mothers and cleared out the room. Unfortunately, the seedlings were in there too and got infected. I moved them to the empty flower room, and sprayed them with 50/50 rubbing alcohol and water. It's supposed to kill the mites and evaporate away. I started with 4 seedlings and am now down to 3. They also stretched in the veg room, "cause the lights were too high. They now have there own light.

Hopefully I can get this under control! Stay tuned.:peace:

Yo Tricome!

I dig the new strain name you came up with! Good stuff! I hope it's nice and 'crippy'. Since the dad was an auto, do you think that will pass on to the next generation??

Also, Good luck with those mites. I blasted my plants with EcoSense insecticidal soap and it knocked the mites right out. Don't know if it will work on red mites though...probably will.

I'll be following along. Happy growing!!:goodluck::popcorn:

Thanx, ConqueringLOJ! I thought the name had a nice ring to it. Yea, I'm worried about them autoflowering. But it may not be so bad. I do have a 4' limit on plant hight. The guy at the grow store told me that AzaMax works good on spider mites. He said it's practically impossible to kill the eggs, but AzaMax makes them unable to reproduce and make more. Of course they were out of it, but will be getting more tomorrow.

:welcome:Thanx for stopping by and the well wishes, TheCheese!

Hey, KannabisKid! Yea, I was not happy when I discovered them. Thanx for the words of encouragement!

The seedlings are hanging in there. They have true leaves now. Unfortunately, they still have mites. I hit them again with the alcohol solution, but I don't think it's very affective if at all. I'll hit them with the AzaMax when I get it.

I built a getto cloner. Hopefully I'll get to try it soon. Here are some pics.

In the meantime, I've got some Sour Diesel to smoke.;)

Sorry it's been so long, gang. I've been pretty busy with work and family. Also, after working in this BRUTAL HEAT, I'm pretty wiped out when I get home.

Things have finally come around in the garden. I defeated the spider mites a couple of weeks ago:allgood:, and my seedlings have recently recovered. I transplanted them Saturday. I had to bury the stems a little 'cause they were week. One got a little twisted from repeatedly falling out of it's paper clip support, but it's straightening up now. All the stems have strengthened since transplanting. They are all very small considering they are a MONTH OLD. The spider mites really put their growth on hold. They finally continued growing about a week ago.
Here are the pics from Sat.

Tanx, Myzz!

I decided to go with tomato cages. Don't want to mess with strings this time. LOL If you look back in my old journals you'll see what I mean!
I'm trying out my crude homemade cloner on 4 lower branches I removed. They're not very big, so we'll see.
This heat wave is brutal!:phew: Temps range from the high 70s to the high 80s. I wonder how high they'll get when I turn on the HPS, which will be very soon. I might have to run it at night.
I'm still just giving plain unPHed water. When I switch to flower I'll start light feeding and build up.

I guess a second name for this journal would be "Caged Heat":laughtwo:RoorRip

Looking great so far! I can't wait to see them flower!

I would recommend running the hps at night. Especially in the summer. Heat is a big issue with hps...make sure you have plenty ventilation. Try to keep those temps down to the mid-80's max.

GL tricome!

Thanx ConqueringLOJ! I can't wait either! In fact I was considering when to switch. I knew it would be soon. Your comment made me count it up, and they've had 4 weeks of veg growth (not counting the 3 weeks of no growth). I know these jokers are gonna stretch so, tomorrow they will go into a dark period and then the hps and the start of flowering!:yahoo:
you're right, I'll have to run it at night with this heat. Just a little worried about the "ghetto bird". :wood:
:rollit:

Yea, Myzz, I'm running it at night. Temps are staying in the high 70s to high 80s. My grow space is roughly 4.5'w, 2'd, 8'h. There is a shelf at 6', so there is 2' of space at the top. I have an air cooled reflector with passive intake from the room, and 4" duct going to an in line fan and then to a carbon filter for exhaust. The room intake is a 4" duct stuck in an a/c vent. The room has negative pressure when the door and plastic are closed. I know that the intake should be larger than the exhaust, so I'm thinking about getting a 6" duct for the room intake. Will this cool it down more? I think/hope it will. I also have a 8" fan in the room for circulation.
Here are some pics of the setup.

UPDATE
My ghetto cloner worked!!:slide: I got roots in less then a week on one! 3 out of 4 made it. I lost one to slime mold, which was in the res. and on the air stone. Any ideas on how to keep this from happening again? The roots were 4" long when I transplanted them yesterday. I'll be giving these different nutes. I'm trying to use up what I have before buying more. Right now they're getting 1/4 strength GH Flora 3 part.

Oops! Can't read the yard stick. The tall ones are 25". The one in the middle is 23".

I'm a proud papa!:blunt:

Thanx, KannabisKid!
Things are coming along pretty nicely. I think the flowering ladies have stopped stretching, and are starting to bulk up. The tallest one is 34". I have some yellowing on the bottom leaves, which I think is due to the PH being out of whack on the second feeding. I'm keeping better track of it now.;)
In the veg room one is doing great, one is doing good, and one is not so great. The roots of all look healthy, just the weak one doesn't have so much. I know 2 of them are from one plant, and one is from another. I just don't know which is which. :hmmmm:

Hey, all. Here are some updated pics from tonight.

I topped the two on the right yesterday.

The strong one The white under the bubbles is a mass of roots with lots of root hairs.

The other good one
100_08103.JPG

I don't know what's up with the weak one. It looks like it's getting nute burn, but is in the same res. as the others. You can see it's roots aren't that great; no root hairs like the other two. Can different phenotypes of the same cross have different nute requirements?

FLOWER ROOM
Things are going good here. The ladies are starting to put on trichs and the buds are still piling on. The one on the right, that started out with a twisted stem, has some leaf twisting. It's not bad and the others aren't experiencing it. I fed them tonight. I am using Earth Juice+microbeasts+Superthrive, and I PH the solution to around 6 and got runoff PH of 6. They all get fed the same mix and PH. I was wondering; will GH PH Up hurt my microbeasties?
