Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed Stock

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

I've been toying with the idea of long term storage in a chest freezer.
I would not have imagined that freezing would work, but some reading has been reigning in my imagination a bit so I'm gonna toss some seeds in the freezer.

tead, I dont think freezing seeds in a freezer are a good idea. Water expands when it expands. you may lose many..:Namaste:

I've been storing mine in a jar in the freezer. I haven't seen any negative effects from it. That's where it's recommended if you are keeping them for more than a year. If you think about it, anywhere there is a winter freeze, naturally sewn seeds will be outside and freeze as part of their life cycle.

If you have had success sprouting frozen seeds, then great!
Most of your African(or any tropical) ACE strains never see freezing in nature :Namaste:

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

But they will germinate. Freezing is the only way to keep them viable for many years. I have a full bottle of seeds in the freezer just in case.

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

Yep freezing is good, freezing is right.

By the way I've put another AUC in the soil, and I can see more sprouting. AUKs are too old on the other hand, so I'm gonna give them a rest. I'm also soaking a seed I found in my Pakistani few years ago, my guess is it was a stray pollen, cause it was only one. It'd be cool to see what's it gonna produce.

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

So I have 9 sprouted seeds in the ground so far, 2 OGKs and 7 AUCs. Ratio is very poor, but some seeds were apparently viable. It's gonna take a while for these to break the ground probably, but I keep germinating. Today I found 3 UDPRs, probably last ones from my pollination in 2015, which just might let me see my own cross if I'm lucky :passitleft:

You're always welcome here, man.

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

Not much to update, but I got one small seedling so far. Looks weak though, so I'll have to wait few days before I can say it made it. I'm popping Green Crack now while waiting for the other ones to break the ground. My Pakistani seed has been tossed and UDPRs look like they're hard to crack, which is exactly what I remember from last year.

Yeah it is a test cross I've made in 2015. I found a killer UD male and I pollinated the only Colombian Punto Rojo I've had from 5 seeds I popped. It was around 30 seeds in total I got by brushing the small branch and the smoke is great something like AK-47 or AK-48 or Super Lemon Haze, very soaring and dreamy. The thing is though I never managed to germinate my own seeds :laughtwo: But I sent 10 most mature ones to lem and he popped them and the only bud I smoked he grew :laughtwo: My last 3 seeds didn't want to germinate, not mature enough with this hard blackish outer layer, well I really picked it too quickly for seeds, cause I decided to go for a smoke in the end, so it'a clone only SoCal strain officially now :laughtwo:

And CPR herself is very strong uplifting smoke that can totally blow you up. I actually sent a stem to Phylos and they've already sequenced it. They found skunk and hemp mixture, which I guess proves that Colombian genes are partly hybridised and it's not that easy to find something pure. But I had a quick pheno, so I'm thinking other ones could lean a different way. I can give you a link if you want to.

About the seeds I finally got 3 seedlings, which look like they might make it after I popped around 30 seeds. Well nothing to do really I just keep popping and I will get there eventually I hope :passitleft:

The UDs have motivated me to do a little germination in my own garden. I really don't dabble in those waters normally... cloning works well in my world. While my plans remain fluid, I think a mix of UD and Crit+ might be interesting in my world and I can't help but wonder what would happen if I crossed it with my odd little version of OGK.
The gumbo pot's a 'burlin and the end product seems like it might be mighty tasty....

Ok, couple of pics. It's really embarrassing so far considering how many seeds I went through to get these 3 poor seedlings, but the table is about to be turned :thumb:

These two are Aurora Ultra Confidential babies

And this is OG Kush

These are really weak, which means they'll grow very slowly and have to be nurtured until they will develop first full set of leaves, but I've done it before so I don't mind waiting a little bit more for killer genetics. It's their 4th day by the way.

And here I've just planted to Aurora Ultra Kushes, first two seeds of this variety that seemed viable after 30 that were tossed.

I've had many problems so far. Seeds that sprouted with no problem, but that had sprouts so weak that they were just melting or breaking in two. Seeds that seemed fine before planting but which never saw the light. I actually did some digging with these 3 above, cause some of these dropped too deep and would never break the surface without the help. I've also had seeds with hardened shells that I scuffed, but which never sprouted, all Green Cracks were tossed for this reason. ATM I'm germinating Ultra Dogs, one White Widow x Big Bud, and few AUKs. I also consider buying some sativas to pop around March/April, I'm thinking about Colombian Gold '72 and Carnival or Nepal Jam or La Niña.

That's it, folks :smokin2::surf:

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

Well done on that marathon sprouting session....at least I know that my AUC's failure to sprout was old age not incompetence. I'm going to try again in the spring and see if I get any joy.

Keep em green :Namaste:
