Coming along nicely

i like your kitty. i wonder how fast the cure will be on those leaves compared to the buds..

Pretty kitty bro. Mine just ran away =(... Are you adding any flavor to it while you cure? I read that you could throw em in a platsic (grocery type) bag, then in a brown paper bag (to prevent light) with an apple or some fruit or something to flavor it. Just a thought.

i am assuming the cure on the leaves could take just as long, because curing involves a chemical breakdown of larger molecules through a natural process. it doesnt matter... buds or leaf...

and adding fruit will add some smell to the bud but the main purpose of adding fruit is to remoisten the buds and get a good cure going. plus adding fruit to 3 lbs of pot will get expensive and moldy... to really add flavor you can add extracts like vanilla or orange juice concentrate 1-3 hours before harvest and after the buds cure, they will have the smell and a gentle flavor of what you added. if not done properly the buds will have a harsh burnt flavor because the sugars absorbed didnt break down...

Flurple: I'm soo stoked on your training tech. I'm going to have to use it on this batch going in tonight in my system. Suggetions on that tech? In all my years of growwing never done that one. +rep...You just taught me something that I ve never done and I take my hat off to you for that. If i could send you a cola I would. So I'll just have to rool a blunt and smoke it for you..Great job!!+reps

will do BLAZE. depending on where you live and who you know you might bump into some of it :D

BUTCHER!!! you rock man, and it better be a big blunt you smokin for me... i have needs lol. i take it you went through the journal and saw all the pics. they give you some idea of the size stems i worked on.

if you are going to try some of those pie slices... it can get just as messy as snapping and bending branches without the slice. it can also be nice and clean. i have lost a few 1 foot branches from screwing around, oh well... a drop in the bucket, the branches below will fill in :D

for best results...

... make about a 30 degree slice about half way in, i dont do 45 because i want the branch pinching together before its horizontal. that way the weight of the stem holds the cut together and i can massage it into place where i want it.

... for large stems i make a 2nd cut inside the first one a quarter way in to keep pressure from building at the center of the stem and snapping it (which i have had happen lol).

... it seems to work best on branches before they start to get too much of that hard wood feeling. i have done it with stems slightly thicker than a pencil but needed to tie em down while it healed... i dont think i would have been able to bend it otherwise without breaking unless the cut was made.

... large or small i give the stem a pinch to loosten it up some, pinch on either side of the cut, roll your fingers round it if its being stubborn and wont bend enough or cut more.

... strain will also play a role in how they react. my sativa strain will upright if i do small branches but large ones sit right in place and are easy as hell to bend after the cut. indica seems to be better at uprighting itself as the stem gets thicker. im not sure yet but this seems to be the case.

... as the cut closes up and the branch supports itself dont bend it too fast or snap, work it down to desired height.

... also they take a good week or 2 to become stiff and stable to the point where a strong bump wont snap em off. so plants you have to move around a lot or ones taking a fan blast you shouldnt do it to (LST in stead). either one can put enough stress to get that branch to point straight down.

i was really suprized when a few ended up bending when i left the room and next day upward stem and bend down made about 40 degree angle. i thought no way it will survive... big brown spot at the bend... but it has repaired, its not pretty but it repaired.

i know its great to be sterile and clean but plants are more resilient than people... snap my arm off i dont grow another me, change my blood pH by .5 and im dead. no prob for a plant..... we all know one of those girls that like a little abuse. well the plants may not like it but they dont mind too much and benefits can be seen weather the plant knows it or not.

alright i think i covered enough for now... any more ?s let me know. im off to see if you replied to my ? about the liquid light. i have been considering using that stuff since i heard about it a month or 2 ago.

here you go BUTCHER... my somewhat vertical scrog... the red lines just try to show the plane on which the new growth and bends are centered on...

this angle is from the point of view from the light feeding this plant energy... i could just cry... lol

this is actually the plant i put into bud late... she is currently on week 6. i can snap a few photos tonight when they come out but i am a little ashamed. she has picked up the bugs as well and i have taken off quite a few fan leafs. dont expect a close up but ill give you an idea of how she is doing. i think im just going to rip her down early or put her somewhere else because when the whole room goes into 12/12 i dont want contamination.

Looks good flurple. Yours n a couple others are a few I just sit back n enjoy.

Great job flurple...nice training technique too! I don't suggest spraying your buds with anything as it usually fries them...I had a mite problem once and used a organic spray called "BANG" ...sprayed the mothers, clones and evrything up until week 2nd of flowering. Repeated this every 5 days (time it takes babies to hatch) for 2- 3 weeks and this seemed to stop the little f*uckers!

i agree SCUMBRAGGER, and aside from the damage most sprays add a terrible flavor. bug bombs are the way to go or ladybugs for late flower issues.

You continue to daze, and amaze us. You say that plant was 6 weeks into flower? Late bloomer? Just curious. Thanks for the other tips as well.

i just ran out of space as the veg plants got bigger so i needed to throw another into 12/12... so she is about 3 weeks behind the others. no nutrient or light issues made her act funny or bloom slow. she just wasnt put on 12/12 til 3 weeks after the others

Don't think it's a strain thing? No matter, she's just going to take her sweet time. Getting those I-wanna-my-plant-to-finish blues myself.

i have family coming over so im bagging the bud a little early. my grandparents are pretty oldschool so them noticing would not end well. probably a long talk how the whole family needs to start going to church more often, get counseling, and go to rehab. but as long as thats on the hush hush we get along great.

i had the space heater run in the closet for a while with the door cracked so they dried out a bit.

after bagging the stuff it weighed 194g. ill probably loose another 30-40g. my best guess is 7oz. from this lovely gal.
