Re: Come SOG with me. 112 plant, 2 liter, Hempy SOG

This has been a awesome grow. Very informative. Great attitude 4 dub, u have been a great host letting us into your grow. I hope u reap the rewards of being positive. thanks.

Thank you my friend. May all your nugs be dense.

That was very interesting!!! Right on! Imma try that for sure! :high-five:

Thanks. Give the 2 liters a try!

Lot of old friends in this thread.

420fied brings out the lurkers ;)

It's always good to see you my friend!

Hi there, I just joined these forums today, to follow this grow specifically. Fantastic grow! Looking forward to see how the first batch turns out. Great job!

Cheers,
Past

Thank you. That is flattering. I hope you'll stick around, the more the merrier!

Awsome grow!

Thank you. I hope you'll stop back by.

Well, I'm 6 days away from the first chop friends. I took a sample and it's excellent. I fed the ones I'll be chopping on the 22nd, and I am chopping them on the 29th so they got plain water yesterday, and they'll continue to get plain water through the 26th(Thursday). After the 26th I will stop the flush and let the medium dry for 3 days as it takes 3 days for the medium to be reallllllly dry in the 2 liter pots. I will chop them at day 70, on the 29th. I will certainly be providing a picture update that night. ;)

Good growing everyone.

Re: Come SOG with me. 112 plant, 2 liter, Hempy SOG

nice, it's good to see them in the last stretch. I've almost rounded up enough bottles so after the test round is done I'll be able to go full swing. This method definitely seems much more uniform than having plants of different heights in there, I can tell my smaller plants are suffering a bit from not as much light as the taller plants.

How do you think SLH would do in this style setup? I would probably want to flower them immediately, but due to the stretch I don't know if it would be a good strain to work with. I have an abundance of SLH clones right now, it clones way too easy and fast and kinda makes up for the longer bloom time.

420, nice grow... been following for a while... do not recall how you trimed on the 21 and 45th day

Re: Come SOG with me. 112 plant, 2 liter, Hempy SOG

Ok.. so I've just sat and read through journal start to finish and I must say it is impressive. I have never seen a SOG grow as I just grow large plants in large pots in soil. However this is all about to change.

Unfortunately I cant use this method of grow until I have a couple of mature mothers to take clones so I will be using a wilma system large 8 pot x2 with same media as this. This will be my last from seed grow for foreseeable future. I plan to grow 4 mothers under 2 250w cfls and then start this type of grow from there.

I do have a couple of questions......

I keep reading about calcium deficiencies in hydro grows, i've never came across this in soil. So is that what cal/mag is for? How do I use it and how often? If the drainage holes in the bottles are couple of inches up the side instead of on the bottom does this not mean there will be stagnant liquid sitting in bottom? Forgive me if these are stupid questions but I really am completely new to this. Also have u considered supplementing with co2? I find it makes quite a substantial difference in final weight. Finally I know u have listed your feed schedule several times in this journal but was wondering what the two bottles on right side of picture are? The flora B, floramicro, floragro then the other 2? I have used ionic grow, ionic bloom, hammerhead, accompanied by nitrozyme throughout and used topshooter by house and garden towards the end. could this same feeds be used?

Thanks for the very imformative journal. I really want to start another journal in my next grow, but a little worried as i had a grow under a different name couple years ago and i got busted off the law who decided to take my computer and ended up using it as evidence against me! Nevermind will just have to stay more alert.......

Re: Come SOG with me. 112 plant, 2 liter, Hempy SOG

The other 2 bottles he had were magical(cal/mg) and ph down.. and you can use whatever feed you like. This is a hempy grow not hydro. And the water at the bottom won't last once the roots reach the bottom. He's only watering with 8oz of water so it'll drink that up quite quick.

Sorry for answering his qyestions 420. Feel free to correct anything I could be off with..

Whats up 420, sounds like all is going well and you are getting very close. I took you advise on the defoliation in my grow. Thought I cut off way too much but plants showed no signs of stress and did not skip a beat. Always learning something from you. Very nice and thanks. Bless....

How often would one use the cal/mag? how would a deficiency be displayed?
Let me give this a shot: Commercial water-soluble fertilizer often includes little if any Mg, but usually plenty of Ca as calcium nitrate. Commercial growers know how much Ca & Mg there is in their source water. Unless you RO filter the water or use only rain through a cistern, there is Ca and Mg in it.
Knowing how much, and how much to add is the grower's job. It's not difficult, nor critical. Cannabis is very hearty and tolerant. I haven't measured pH in many months. My bare skin tells me all I know about temperature & humidity. I guess that my feeding strength is approx 1200ppm, but twice as much would work as well. Or half. I don't often measure that, either. My growth in coco coir is very dynamic and forgiving; I don't lose clones or crops.
I believe that 99% of reported 'deficiencies' are actually misdiagnosis.
Fundamental conditions rule, and fancy-named noots drool ;)

Well put. But I do think it is easy to have Ca toxicity depending on your water, nutes, and soil.. I had what was diagnosied by a few growers to be mg def. Which the only explaination is to much ca to lock up mg. I use and r.o. now and add ca/mg and haven't seen the problem since. I believe my water had high ca and then adding ca/mg just added even more ca. Basically I agree 100% its up to the grower to figure out if or how much and when to use ca/mg.

I've never grown SLH but if you go straight to 12/12 you should be OK. Give it a shot!

Thank you. I'm not sure if you're asking IF I defoliated on day 21 and 45 or if you're asking HOW I trimmed them on days 21 and 45. To clarify.... I defoliate all plants on days 21 and 45 of 12/12. I simply remove all of the large fans all the way around and top to bottom.

God 420 fied. that garden just looks like a gooey sticky mess. A bunch of green skyscrapers in a snowstorm!!
Im going to go 12/12 from clone in half gal on my next round through with my shelves so well see how well that works in soil .

Yeah man, The defoliation really allows the colas to stand out. Let me know how your half gallon grow works out. Best of luck!

No problem my friend. Your answers are correct. I have found that in maturity(day 40 of 12/12 on) the plants can go for 3 days without before completely drying out. I've found that if I feed them every day I us 8 ounces of water, Every two days, I use 14-16 ounces, every 3rd day and they'll eat 20-22 ounces of water when they're super dry.

Whats up 420, sounds like all is going well and you are getting very close. I took you advise on the defoliation in my grow. Thought I cut off way too much but plants showed no signs of stress and did not skip a beat. Always learning something from you. Very nice and thanks. Bless....

I'm glad the defoliation worked out for you my friend. Thanks for your kind words. It's always nice to see you here.

Well friends........ tomorrow night is the chop of the first 30 plants(day 70 for the first 16 & day 64 for the next 14). Trichs are roughly 40% amber, 60% cloudy.

I took one plant early so I will have approx 29 plants coming down tomorrow night. I will likely have some sort of harvest every 2-4 weeks going forward.

I appreciate everyones input. Stay tuned friends.

Looking forward to seeing those buds dried out and their weights. Have fun on what should be an easy harvest.

Predictions on dry weight for the first 30? I'll say 1kG even

1kG = 1 kilogram, right?

You're predicting 1000 dry grams off of the first 30? If so, I love your enthusiasm brother.

That means I'd have to average 33 grams per plant. I just don't see it.

I think I'll be closer to 13-15 grams per plant which means I should pull in the neighborhood of 370-450 grams off of the first 30.

I plan on getting started before too long.
