Colombian Gold Grow: Come Learn With Me How To Produce Your Own Seeds!

Morning mr.Beez I've seen you in passing but I get to watch the magic first hand now, I got a #newtygram saying there's a new journal up and cracking...

I received some Swazi gold reg seeds as freebies bout 2 weeks ago from Greensmokeroomzz seeds ...

I've smoked tons of Swazi as that's my native strain here in South Africa but that was in my teens. The Swazi on the street today is so inbred that you don't know what you are actually smoking apart from that it's sativa....

About once a year now since I've been back home, theres a certain lady who peddles her wares at the taxi rank ( not a taxi rank as you would know it ) it's a mix of taxis, buses and vegetable/ live chicken vendors and chaotic.

But anyway she still has some " Rooibaard " or red beard in English which is a pure landrace sativa and very difficult to find these days unless you have a connection but I'm yet to find a seed when I buy....

It's the only time we get sensimillia from her too, normally it's seeded flower predominantly off the streets....

A trick I learnt from a fellow grower ....

When I top a plant I put a aloe plug on top as its natural antiseptic and works like a band aid. Heals over perfectly also no stress incurred whatsoever....

See, this is why I started this journal. I had never heard that before with the aloe. I've used Vaseline in the past, but I have to believe the aloe would be a whole lot better. Thanks for sharing!

Seeds (for me) have taken 5-6 weeks to mature after pollination. I've been told some strains the seeds take longer. What I do is determine how long I anticipate I will flower a plant. Say 9 weeks. I count backwards 6 weeks from the end and that's when I would pollinate that plant. So the seeds are mature on or very near the time the plant is ready to harvest.

Heya Beez,

You got a really clear and clean way of educating, well done! I see why @newty told me this is a must-sub(sounds cool lol).

I'm in:cheer:

Thank you, Newty. I'm pretty sure though it's you who could be teaching me a thing or two.;)

Sounds like a Teach-off!:battingeyelashes: nah you two can probably educate a lot together:high-five:

@Kismet I just read your post on the Stankinator's thread. Just real quick how I pollinate just a few buds. I use the same principle as Stank but a little different. I get hold of a couple of those plastic bags that french bread comes in at the supermarket. I eat the bread. When you're ready to pollinate take one of the bags and slide it over a branch you're wanting to dust with pollen. Do the same with the other bag if you want to pollinate more buds (hit 2 for me) put a bag over a second branch. Put a tie on the opened end and seal it was tight as you can. I always do two branches right next to each other. So the bags are on and sealed. Now take a spray bottle with a mist head on it and mist all the buds around the bags. You don't have to DRENCH them but you do want to make sure they're wet. Hit all the pistils. Now gently shake it so no water drips down on your covered branches when you remove the bags. So take off the bags, use a tiny artists paintbrush and gently apply pollen to the tips of the pistils. I slide the bags back on again, seal them, and lightly spray the uncovered buds again. I wait a few minutes and lightly shake the plant again with the pollinated branches still covered. When the exposed/sprayed buds are looking nice and dry take off the plastic bags and you're done.

Everything above takes about 20 minutes. It's not complicated, and the more careful you are the more contained your pollination will be.

Hope that is helpful!

This way sounds really nice. next time i go for seeds it will be with the first step of eating bread, thnx for the howto:Namaste:

This really cracked me up the first few seconds as i was sure i saw aloe growing out of the top. i like the idea of a fresh aloe cut on the top. wonderfull:goodjob:

Probably let the lowers go longer just to make sure? They ripe.

Are you talking about the male flowers being ripe? You can always move the male inside in a secluded location and just keep a small light on him until you can collect pollen. Once it's collected toss him onto the compost pile.

I'm so thankful Newty has so many friends. My journal was getting to be a very lonely place. She told me I needed to be patient, that in a month or so people would start joining in. A MONTH? So Thank You again Newty for making an old man happy!!:thanks:
