Colombian Gold Grow: Come Learn With Me How To Produce Your Own Seeds!

There's really no removing the nutes from the plant itself....flushing is highly controversial. And somewhat of a myth IMHO!

You can, with lots of plain water - make the soil void of most nutrients so that plants cannot absorb any more. But in no way possible, can you translocate the nutrients already absorbed by the plant!

You cant necessarily flush a plant, only the soil...even then it takes time for the plant to be "flushed".

So to answer the question, I would say to do exactly that! That soil needs to be void of anything, and since your using water soluble nutrients.....dumping lots of water through it should help remove most of it!

Hope that helps brother!

I joined the no flush movement and this is why :Critical look at Preharvest Flush

I didn’t flush my WW autos that came down. I don’t find them harsh or bad tasting at all.. I fact quite the opposite they haven’t been curing long but from the sample I first smoked they were smooth with hints or fruity, wood and spice notes. This I can only expect to get better with time.

@LaquerHead Let's say today I mix up a batch of 50% strength nutes and feed one of the Colombian gold plants. They suck up what they want/need. At that point don't the plants start to burn up those nutrients turning it into food to help the plants grow? I believe that if about 2 weeks before harvesting (no matter when that is for you) you can effectively reduce the amount of nutrients to some extent in the plants by flushing with pure PH'd water through harvest. You just have to make sure to let the plant run through it's critical final two weeks where it bulks up and produces lots of trichromes and resin. After that has happened I flush when I see the first amber trichrome.

It's important and natural for the plant to cannabilize it's fan leaves during flower. Remember flowers are sinks they don't produce carbs through photosynthesis they get everything they need from the fans and to a lesser extent the sugar leaves. Cutting off nutrients being used by the fans to produce sugars will only hurt the plant. I stopped long flush times a long time ago. If the plants still green you can back off the nutes in late flower but the flowers need the carbohydrates to finish out properly.

I used to hear about people (users of synthetic nutes) doing that all the time. Does that work well? Is it still done?
I was going to flush my last plant for a long period of time but settled at 4 days. I use Maxibloom. Turned out great. I do like my leaves to be nice and faded at harvest.

I rinse out the pots the day of harvest because I recycle my medium.

Now thats interesting! I instand flushed when i started growing... its on the package/nute sheet.. growers all around do it.. and now it makes sense. Ofcourse i understand you cant put them nutes in reverse and flush them out of the plant, but i never tought about the def you might give them while they want to bulk. All i feed is organic so i kinda dont know why i did flush all the time now.

Thanks guys, my brains like this stuff:yahoo:

All the cool kids have!

I want to be cool too. Now I'll have to get the wife to show me how to save a link and where to find it after I save it. o_O

flowers need the carbohydrates to finish out properly.

That's what the molasses does right? Natural, organic and produces carbs.

When I started growing indoors I understood to flush the bathtub method. I would pull the plants out and put 10 gallons of water through a 5 gallon container. on my white widow journal, I had some people ask why I was doing that and to just give them a normal watering, as a flush. I scratched my head and did it.
So now I am finished with 7 weeks of flower and wondering how I am going to finish my current crop. I decided to cut my nutrition back 75%. I like the idea of feeding them till the end but I do not want the plant to take up too much Nutes. I think I will finish my ladies out by feeding them 1/4 Nutes till chop. I have had the hay smell before but I think it was my fault. If you are feeding full strength gh or an nutes and then you just stop and flush, sometimes the plants will not take the water up as fast. I would go from feed/water every other day to my soil staying wet for a week and I would just chop.
I think they were loaded up with nutes and some nitrogen and they stayed in place. My method may be totally wrong but I am going to see how the taper down method will work. Good information that y’all are throwing out and I am all about adapting and learning quality grow techniques.
