Coco Scrog - Multiple Strains

Have a quick question. How many plants are you planning on running in that screen just 2?
I think it will be possible to fill it with 2 with the right amount of veg time. Also i'd think of maybe taking like 2-3 inches off the legs of the screen which will allow the plant to hit the screen quicker and allow you to get it to spread out more. I would start off by topping both plants to get 2 main stalks that you can lst to opposite sides of the container then after a little growing top or fim both of those branches along with some selective topping/ fimming of secondary shoots and that should give you a good base of branches to start off with. Also i find it easier to train about an hour or so after watering as it makes it a little easier for them to bend.

Yes I was planning on running 2 under the screen. I think I will take your advice on shortening the screen. I went and measured it the other day and it sits 14 1/2 inches above the root pots, I didn't realize that the 5 gallon root pots are shorter then 5 gallon buckets.

If the clones root in a week or two then that should give me about 3 1/2 months of Veg +/-

I think that should be more then enough time, I'm actually concerned about budrot with that many colas so squeezed together even with my decent ventilation. I won't have control of the flip outdoors so the screen might get overgrown in the months to come!

Thanks for the training tips, much appreciated

Thanks for the cloning lesson. Seen one of these on e-bay but was an 8 site for $50.00. Was wondering how often do you run the pump on the cloner?

You could make one easy for $50, probably even a larger one in a rubbermaid tub. I actually had a C.A.P. fixed cycle timer that ran 1 on / 4 off. For some reason it stopped working so I'll be running it constantly. I've seen many people run it constantly with no negative effects, however I've seen some who have temp problems in their res running it all the time. I had no temp issues with the timer so we will see how it works without. I will add some H202 after a few days just in case and will probably do a res change after a week.

Update: 4/6/12

This is just a quick update.

I wacked a few inches off of the screen, it now sits 11" above the pots.

I also took apart and fixed my cycle timer, I am now running my cloner 1 on/ 4 off

Group B is looking good. They are truckin along slowly but I saw some roots poking out the bottom when I checked up on them today. The pots are drying out so they will get a watering today!

Great clone demo! I'm wondering how difficult it would be to build one of those aeroponic cloners. It would be a wonderful alternative to the conventional cloning method. Great pics by the way! Looking forward to the grand finale!

Thank you! It is not hard at all. A small scale like mine (5 gallon) would cost around $40-50 and you could make a large one out of any size rubbermaid tote for $60-90. I can't post a link because of 420 rules but type in "how to harvest a pound every three weeks" on google. It will give you a PDF on how to build a large tote one, or you can scale it down to a smaller version. If you have any more questions just ask I will be more then happy to try and help.

Update: 4/10/12

Good evening everyone, hope you had a nice Tuesday.:circle-of-love:

Unfortunately I've hit a little bump in the road today that had me a little upset. I have some bad news and some semi/good news.

This part isn't really bad at all just thought I would mention something strange I encountered today if you are up for the read. If not just scroll down to "The Bad":

Before leaving to go riding dirt bikes in the mountains today, I was doing the usual morning routine: Feeding the dogs, letting them outside, eating breakfast, checking if tomatoes, strawberries, and blueberries needed water, then lastly checked on MJ plants before taking my shower. When I opened the door I was shocked to see LA Con #1 completely wilted to the point I thought it was dead. My initial thought was I didn't give her enough water, but after picking up the pot and comparing to others it felt about the same. Yet the others looked fine, I would say they could of lasted another 6-8 hours before watering. I have forgot to water plants before and they wilted similarly however the leaves were crisp to the touch. The leaves on this wilted plant felt extremely soft to the touch, almost like a fabric. After watering and a few hours it perked back up and looks like nothing ever happened. I just thought this was kind of strange since I just witnessed something similar on one of Oldmedman's plant in his journal. I wish I would of took some photos, if it happens again I will be sure to.

The Bad: After returning home from a nice day of riding I opened the door to take a quick peek at the plants and heard a loud grinding noise. The cycle timer that I fixed decided to take a shit on me. I checked the clones in the cloner, and the stems were dry and starting to turn brown :yikes:
I trashed the completely gone ones and tried to salvage what I could. I'm not even going to bother with timers for my cloner anymore.

The Good: If none of these clones show roots, then the mothers should be ready for another batch of clones in another week or so which is not too bad of a delay but I'm still pissed nonetheless. I'll most likely just scrap the remaining ones I tried to salvage because I want the clones to be as healthy as possible.

Also Good: I was getting low on my personal stash so I decided to head to a dispensary for a change. I headed to Natures Green Healing Collective and split my sack between come Cindy 99 and Blue Dream. I'm really glad I have these fine buds to smoke after this incident that happened today, Ahhhh cannabis is such a stress reliever

Here is some bud porn for all you at :420:

Hello Stoned4daze61!!...... very nice journal and plants!.......:goodjob:........ I like your strains, setup and that
your growing them outside. Real good cloning explanation. I like the way the clones look they would produce
nice plants instead of a lot of them I see where the clones look real scraggly, sick and vine like. Do you think your water might be cold? I started using an aquarium heater even inside so at least I know it's right. So I wish you......:goodluck:.....with the rest of your grow..... I know it's going to be a good one!......:smokin:....

:welcome: Goshawk

:thankyou: For all the kind words.

Actually with my cloning set up I run into the exact opposite problem. Since I use a 396gph pump and 5 gallon bucket (only filled with 2-3 gallons) compared to others who use rubbermaid totes, my temps are usually too high which slow down rooting times. Ideally you want your res temps to be 66-68 degrees.

That is why I previously ran a cycle timer. The 1 minute on/ 4 minutes off gave the submersible pump time to cool down in between cycles which kept the temps down. However after the headaches my timer has given me recently I decide to just run it 24/7.

That Cindy99 looks goooooood! My first adult experience was with a Cindy but I guess that for another site all together

I agree, sounds like your experience with her was a lot more pleasurable then mine :cheesygrinsmiley:

This particular cindy was easy on the eyes but the smoke and flavor just didn't live up to my expectations of this strain. The Blue Dream was a lot better in my opinion and I'm not even much of a blue dream fan.
